More MLAs falling out of YSR Congress line

0

As chief minister and ruling YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is changing the MLAs from one constituency to the other and dropping some of them, there is dissidence brewing in the party. More MLAs are walking out of the party ahead of the 2024 general election giving a rude shock to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It started with Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy who quit the party and MLA post two weeks ago. This was followed by MLA Anna Rambabu from Giddaluru in Prakasam district, who said that he would not contest the coming elections. He said he would speak to the media and his supporters shortly about the injustice done to him in the ruling party.

Darsi sitting MLA Maddisetti Venugopal is not happy with the leadership as Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to field former MLA Buchepalli Sivaprasada Reddy. Venugopal is fuming at the party leadership for the decision. He said he would take a call if the ticket was denied to him. He met the chief minister on Friday evening and had talks.

Rayadurgam MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy had openly spoken against the party leadership. He had already declared that he would contest as an independent. He said that his wife would also contest as an independent from Rayadurgam, while he plans to contest from Kalyanadurgam constituency.

Narasaraopet MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu also met the chief minister on Friday evening. Sources say that the chief minister had asked the MP to shift to Guntur Lok Sabha constituency. The MP did not accept the invitation as he was angry with the chief minister for neglecting Amaravati. He said that the Amaravati farmers would defeat him as the government had done injustice to them.

Though the chief minister insisted upon Srikrishna Devarayalu to contest from Guntur, the MP had told him that he would not move from Narasaraopet and would stay away from the contest if the ticket is denied. It is to be seen what the MP would do if he is not given the party ticket.

There are rumours in the party that the chief minister had asked Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad to move to Jaggaiahpet for which he did not accept. Vasantha is not happy with the chief minister’s decision, and it is to be seen what decision he would take.

Sources also say that the chief minister had asked Devineni Avinash to move to Mylavaram from Vijayawada East Assembly constituency to Mylavaram in the NTR district. Avinash is said to be unhappy with the decision as he had been working in the constituency for the past five years and had set the state for his victory.

There are at least a dozen MLAs in the ruling party who are looking at other parties as they are being denied the party ticket. It is to be seen how many of them would walk out of the party once the chief minister announces the list.

Are YSRCP MLAs, MPs in the cold storage?

1

The MLAs and the MPs of the ruling YSRCP are increasingly feeling that they have no well-defined role. They feel that they are being bypassed in YS Jagan’s scheme of things. Many are unhappy that they have no role to play in governance despite being in the ruling party. They see no scope of getting established politically.

As per YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plans, all the benefits, doles, sops and the welfare schemes are being implemented with the help of the village secretaries. The village secretaries are becoming the most important interface and the people are interacting with them to secure their benefits. What more? The government has set up an interface called Spandana to address the problems of the people. As a result of this, the people are now directly linked to the officials.

In this whole setup, the political leaders, especially the elected people’s representatives are completely bypassed. They literally have no role to perform. Many of the elected public representatives stood by the party during the tough times and have financially supported the party. But, they are now finding themselves completely sidelined.

Every scheme is controlled, monitored and implemented by the Chief Minister himself. He is pressing the button and the people are finding the amounts deposited in their accounts. The MPs and MLAs have no roles whatsoever. Everything is passing through the officials. As a result, the MPs and MLAs are not being seen in the meetings and inaugurations.

Naidu puts YSRC MLA admission into TDP on hold

0

Though chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is eager to admit as many YSR MLAs as possible into TDP, this won’t happen without pain.

TDP leader and former minister Ramsubbareddy is not sure of continuing in Telugu Desam party, if Chandrababu Naidu admits local YSRCP MLA C Adinarayanareddy into party. Sensing trouble in Kapda district, Naidu is said to have put the admission of  YSRCP MLA into TDP on hold.

He has been in the party for decades and locally a very strong leader. But, his confidence in the Telugu Desam party was shaken by the reported decision of his boss Chandrababu Naidu to allow his arch rival C Adinarayana Reddy into party. In Kadapa-type faction politics,it is difficult for two enemies live in the same party.

Ramasubbareddy and Adinarayana Reddy are not ordinary political rivals, who contest the election from different parties and forget the rivalry after the elections: they are faction leaders with blood stained track of history. So, Naidu’s decision to allow Adinarayana Reddy, member of another powerful family in Jammalamadu assembly constituency, into TDP is naturally creating ripples of resentment in the rival group. While Adinarayana Reddy, now YSRC MLA, was a protégé of YSR, Ramasubbareddy remained loyal to Chandrababu Naidu. But, after the demise of YSR, differences cropped up between Narayana Reddy and YS Jaganmohan Reddy, which forced the the former to think of quitting the YSRC and joining  TDP.

He is said to have got clearance from TDP boss, but Naidu has reportedly put the formal joining on hold fearing backlash from Ramasubbareddy’s group, a reliable party leader.

Even though Ramasubbareddywas defeated in 2014 election, he has got his won clout and reemerging is not a big deal for him. But, Naidu, in his eagerness to prove that YSRC MLAs are deserting Jagan, that too from his home district, is ready to admit Adinarayana Reddy, unmindful of the heart burn it causes among the party leaders.

Once Adinarayana Reddy joins the TDP, Ramasubbareddy is bound to quit the party and chart a different course. In all probability he will join YSR Congress, as BJP is not a force in this area.

Talking to media today in Jammalamadugu, Ramasubbareddy said he was still in TDP.
” As of now, I am in TDP. I will sail with TDP. My continuing in the party depends on the future poltical developments. I am not opposed to the TDP. What we are opposing is the entry of YSRC MLA C Adinarayana Reddy,” Ramasubbareddy said.

Schemes ok MLAs are not : TDP Poor Score-card

0

The MLAs of ruling party, who enjoy enormous clout in the day to day administration and influencing the decisions at grass-root level have cut a sorry figure by scoring very poor marks for their performance. It is not known how serious the TDP supremo is about the progress reports he himself got prepared for the 175 MLAs of the party on their role in the implementation of all flagship programs of the government such as pensions, loan waiver, NTR vaidya seva etc. The progress reports have been given to the MLAs concerned in Saturday’s Telugu Desam Party’s extended meeting held in Vijayawada.

Over all, the the people are not happy with the MLAs, the survey conducted by the party president said. Only 33 PC MLAs have got good marks from the people while 23 per cent fared poorly with the people. Another 38 per cent received “not-bad” marks. The survey was conducted to know the people’s perception about the seven flagship programs of TDP government. After that subjects have been asked to reveal about their perception of the participation of the MLAs in the implementation of these programs.

Except Arogya Sri, schemes like loan-waiver to the farmers, and self-help group women did not find favor with the beneficiaries. Schemes-wise, the pension scheme scored well in the implementation by scoring 77 per cent approval while 17 per cent people were expressed their dissatisfaction. 70 per cent people are happy with the way the ration being supplied through the PDS system. Janma Bhumi committees have failed to fare well by getting a score of approval of just 38 per cent.

Much to the chagrin of CM chandrababu Naidu only 27 per cent beneficiaries have expressed satisfaction over the way the loan waiver was implemented. The people who were not happy with the scheme were 29 per cent. Similarly, the loan waiver to DWCRA fared poorly with the beneficiaries. About 34 per cent wowen were not happy with loan waiver while those satisfied with the scheme were a meager 27 per cent. The program touted as revolutionary by the government, the sand mining to SHG groups received miserable score with an approval rate of just 24 per cent. The approval rate of Arogyasri, renamed as NTR vydya seva got highest approval rate of 38 per cent.
It is not yet clear whether there was any column related to the performance of chief minister and other ministers. As the MLAs role is limited to the constituency only, it is important to know the rate of approval of the ministers and chief minister statewide.
