Digital Platforms : The Future of Indian Cinema

The viewers watching digital content saw a huge rise in the country. Digital giants like Netflix and Amazon ventured into several Indian projects and they are taking space across the regional markets too. Going with the numbers, the viewers watching digital content went up by ten times in the past year which is a huge indication that it is going to be the future. Several top actors are keen and are showing interest to feature in web series as they are being made on lavish budgets and standards.

It may be known that Netflix is investing over Rs 100 crores on Baahubali: Before the Beginning. Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar recently announced that he is going to work with Amazon Prime for a project. Speculations are on that Salman Khan too may sign one for the digital giant. Several Tollywood production houses are in the hunt for interesting concepts to lock projects with these digital giants.

With equal scope along with cinema, top actors are now showing interest and are taking hefty pay cheques for web series which is made in seasons. Top actor Mahesh Babu is producing one which is in pre-production stages. Director Maruthi already supervised a couple of projects which are ready to hit the digital platforms. Over ten top Tollywood production houses rented office spaces especially for producing web content which is going to be the other face of entertainment. Reliance Jio, Viu, Zee5 and many others are slowly producing content based web series on reasonable budgets. Netflix is in talks to team up with talented directors to produce Indian films too.

This may give stiff competition for films in the coming days. Digital content is slowly turning the future of Indian cinema.

Netflix acquires ‘Baahubali’ for a mind blowing price

Indian cinema’s hit franchise Baahubali, which broke several box office worldwide with its two parts, is continuing to explore different avenues to fetch more profits for its producers.

In a mind boggling deal, the online streaming rights of the SS Rajamouli visual extravaganza( Baahubali 1,2)have been bagged by Netflix, one of the leading streaming service video apps at present, for 4 Million Dollars which turns out to 25.5 Crores ( approx in Rs). Netflix is slowly making its presence felt in India and this deal is viewed as a game changer for the company in terms of viewership. The video streaming gaint is looking to open its office in India very soon.

Baahubali producers are quite happy with the deal and said that the collaboration with Netflix will facilitate the film reach audience in all 192 countries effortlessly.

The second part of the period drama, Baahubali 2, has completed 100 days recently.
