Rahul-Raghuveera-Chandy meeting on 25th on TDP-Cong alliance in AP

0

Should TDP continue the alliance with Congress in AP too? Or as the alliance didn’t give expected result, should that alliance be discarded? This is the debate going on in congress circles, of late. Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi, in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Oommen Chandy and AP PCC President Raghuvira Reddy will be meeting on 25th December to discuss this issue.

There are 2 different opinions in the party on allying with TDP in AP. While some section of leaders say, Congress has vote bank and cadres though leaders left the party and allying with TDP definitely will be a win-win combination. However, other section of leaders are arguing that people will not accept such alliance at ground level and that is evident from Telangana election results. Congress leadership took opinion of cadres from all the 175 constituencies on whether to ally with TDP or not -and the response is mixed. Oomen Chandy and Raghuveera will take forward these opinions to Rahul Gandhi during the meeting, that will be held on 25th of this month.

Meanwhile, TDP leaders also ar saying- no decision taken by TDP leadership yet on extending the alliance to AP. However, the alliance may materialize keeping in mind national political equations, some TDP leaders say. But, in TDP too, there are mixed opinions regarding this. We will have to wait and see whether this alliance will materialize or not in AP.

GAD clarification on Abheeshta appointment

0

Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday issued clarification on the appointment of Sitapati Abheeshta as Officer On Special Duty (OSD) in the office of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu (CMO). Raising the secrecy surrounding the appointment of  Abheeshta, APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy asked the government to explain as to how a non-qualified person  had been appointed in CMO with crucial responsibilities. Raghuvira also alleged that Abheeshta had been appointed just because he was friend of Nara Lokesh, son of chief minister Naidu, and  Lokesh was  gaining access to  the government  information  through Abheestha.

In the backdrop General Administration Department has issued a clarification this evening with referring to the name of Raghuvira Reddy. The following is the full text of the rejoinder:

***      ***

A news item is published on 28-10-2015, to the effect that Sri S.Abheeshta, who has been working in the Chief Minister’s office, has not been officially appointed. The said news item is false, totally baseless and concealing the facts.

It is informed that the proposal for appointment of Sri Abheeshta as OSD to Chief Minister was dealt with in file C.NO.4/OP.II/2014. Based on the request received from the Chief Minister’s office orders were issued in O.O Rt.No.25 GA (OP.II) Department dated 16-6-2014, appointing him as Officer on Special Duty to Hon’ble Chief Minister coterminous with the tenure of Chief Minister. It was indicated therein that the terms & conditions of appointment will be issued separately. The terms & conditions of appointment were issued in OO Rt.No.370 GA (OP.II0 Dept., dated 21-8-2014 with the concurrence of Finance Department vide their UO No.5335/79/A3/HR.I/2014 Dated 5-8-2014 and after obtaining the orders of Chief Minister through Minister for Finance.

The above clearly shows that Sri Abheeshta is working as OSD to Chief Minister on the strength of the above orders issued. Therefore there is no truth in the allegations made that he is working as OSD to CM without any orders from GAD.

It is further informed that temporary appointments are made in Government as and when Government wishes to appoint experts in certain posts. There are precedent cases where Government have appointed outsiders. The outside experts will be appointed with a specific rank. Some will be appointed with cabinet status and others with fixed remuneration. Therefore the Government is within its powers to appoint Sri Abheeshta as OSD to Chief Minister.

APCC chief arrested while campaigning against Modi

0

Andhra Pradesh PCC president  N Raghuvira Reddy and  many other senior leaders have been arrested at Secunderabad railway station today when they were requesting the Bihar passenger travelling home to vote against BJP led NDA in ongoing Bihar elections.

Raghuvira arrived in the railway station along with senior leaders to meet Bihar passengers on platform number 1. APCC took up  the “Defeat BJP in Bihar” program as a protest against Prime Minister Modi’s  what it called indifference towards  fulfilling the assurances made to Andhra Pradesh by the union government  at the time of  passage of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. 2014. The demands of PCC include special category status to Andhra Pradesh, special package to seven backward districts in Rayalaseema and North-coastal Andhra etc. The PCC team met many passengers in Secunderabad-Patna train and asked them not to trust Modi and his assurances. They said even the so-called Rs.2.25 crore Bihar-package was also a fraud and it was announced only to appease the Bihari People with an eye on elections.  They reminded the Bihari people in the train how Modi  assured special category status to Andhra Pradesh during 2014 elections and backed out after winning the elections.

PCC general secretaries Janga Gowtham,  T J Sudhakar Babu, official spokespersons Ganga Bhavani, Dr N Tulasi Reddy, SC cell chairman Korivi Vinay Kumar, Minarty cell chairman Ali Khan, Ranga Redd DCC president K Mallesh  participated in the program . They distributed the pamphlets calling for defeat of Modi’s leadership in Bihar. They also fastened the banners to the banners to railway compartments.

He explained that Modi’s Bihar package of Rs 1.65 lakh crores was  nothing but re-packing of all the Central funds due to the state from the Centre. “When we were cheated on promises made right on the floor of Parliament, it is certain that you will also be cheated as Modi has the habit of announcing packages  when elections are approaching. He won in AP and cheated us. If he wins in Bihar, he will surely cheat you”, Raghuveera Reddy explained the people of Bihar in train.

While they were campaigning the station, Police arrested them stating the campaign was not allowed in Railway station. Later, Raghuvira team was released on bail. Talking to media after his release, the PCC president said he was going to Bihar along with  senior leaders C Ramachandraiah, J D Seelam, KVP Ramachandra Rao and Pallam Raju to Bihar to participate in the campaign .  He said the AP Congress team would tell the Bihar people who the Andhras were cheated by Prime Minister Modi and caution them not to be fooled by the  packages and other tricks being played by  BJP and Prime Minister Modi.

How to defeat BJP in Bihar from Andhra Pradesh ?

0

Andhra Pradesh Congress, which of late practicing non-conventional political campaigns, is all set to to work to the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar elections sitting in Hyderabad. The decision stems from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to announce the special category state status which Modi himself assured during the 2014 election campaign in Andhra Pradesh.  Entire Telugu population of Andhra Pradesh expected that Modi would announce something- if not a Bihar-like package, to the state of Andhr Pradesh during his participation in the foundation laying ceremony of new capital Amaravati on October 22, 2015.  But the Congress said the PM had disappointed. So, the Andhra Pradesh Congress led by PCC president N Raghuvira Reddy took a pledge today to work to defeat the BJP in Bihar.

The party chose a novel method of campaign against BJP in Bihar. According to APCC general secretary Janga Gawtham,  PCC President  N.Raghuveera Reddy & other senior congress leaders will appeal to the Bihar bound commuters travelling by trains from and through Secunderabad to Patna to vote against BJP & N.D.A in third phase of elections.

” This is  in protest for not according special status to Andhra Pradesh  by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All available Senior Congress Leaders will go to Secunderabad railway station on Sunday  and meet the passengers in Bihar bound trains from 9 am to 10 am at Secunderabad railway station on platform no 10,” Gautham told telugu 360.com.

“Thousands of Bihar  migrants are living in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Many of them travel to their home state every day.  So, we want to tell them how untrustworthy the Prime Minister is . We also tell how he promised special category status to Andhra Pradesh in the campain in 2014 and ditched the people after getting votes. Our leaders will enlighten the  Bihari people on the wicked character of BJP,” Gawtham said.

AP Cong regaining the lost ground?

0

Andhra Pradesh Congress, after successfully conducting a campaign against the NDA and TDP governments for special category status (SCS), is now concentrating on broad-basing the party in the state. The state leadership is also successful in making the people forget and look forward for better future by taking up the campaign on how the NDA government backed out on the compensatory assurance of SCS, the UPA government announced to make up for the loss of AP following the bifurcation. The elusive SCS has become raison d’être for Congress to become a stree-smart party. Now, with the good will generated by its campaigns on SCS, farmers suicide, forcible land acquisition, non-completion of Rayalaseema projects etc, the party is on the path to regain the lost ground among various sections of society especially weaker section. If public turn out any indication for the influence a party enjoys among the people, the Rythu Garjana, APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy organized in Jaganreddy Gudem is super hit. Acknowledging the efforts Raghuvira putting to keep the party back on tracks, the AICC deputed AICC general secretary Thirunavukkarasu to rytu garjana held in J.Gudem. For a party which earned the wrath of the people for its decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and which drew blank in 2014 election, the response it is getting to its meeting is amazing. Now, the party wants to take up the cause of backward classes in Andhra Pradesh. It came up for the discussion in the general body meeting held in Vijawada on Sunday. Tirunavukkarasu the huge response” we are getting to our programs shows how vexed are the people with anti-people policies of the TDP government and who knows what might happen in the next three and a half years.”

He and other Congress party leaders attending the meeting took objection to recent comments of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat regarding reservations and said that reservations in the present form should continue, as the main objective of those reservations – a level playing field for all – has not yet been achieved. They wanted the TDP, which is BJP’s ally in the state, and the main opposition party YSRC to make their stance clear on the subject of reservations.

APCC president Raghuveera Reddy said state government had failed the BCs if one goes by the track record of the government in the last one and a half year. ” It has not implemented even a single promise of the 120 poll promises TDP president Chandrababu Naidu made to the BCs in its election manifesto,” Raghuvira said.

According to Raguvira the broken promises are :

* BC Commission is yet see the light of the day.

* Much touted BC sub-plan is yet to take a proper shape, budgetary

* Did not deliver on the promised 100 seats.

* No special package for artisanal communities especially weaver.

The APCC took objection to recent comments of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat with regard to reservations. The party said, ” The reservations in the present form should continue, as the main objective of the reservations is to provide a level playing field for those who are socially, culturally backward sections, which has not been achieved yet. It is high time that ruling TDP, BJP, it’s ally in the state, and the main opposition party YSRC announced their stand in unequivocal terms on reservations.”

AP Cong to implead itself in farmers’ suicide cases

0

The Andhra Pradesh Congress will implead itself in the cases related farmers’ suicides in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana which are now being heard by d Hyderabad High Court. APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy said the High Court had snubbed the two governments in the cases and directed them to submit detailed reports on the reasons behind the crisis in the farm sector.

Stating that the two governments were trying to dilute the seriousness of the situation and were covering up facts Raghuvira revealed that Congress would implead itself in the cases to present the facts and figures before the Court. “The lack of seriousness on the Andhra Pradesh government was evident from the manner in which chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has put the death toll at 46 while 70 farmers committed suicide in September alone. Over 100 people committed suicide in Anantapur district alone. Farmers of commercial crops like tobacco, sugarcane and palm have are in deep crisis and suicides are being reported from the areas these crops” he said.

The APCC chief said the TDP government had failed to implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee despite promising to do so and present crisis was the result of chief minster’s basic attitude towards agriculture.

Raghuvira makes Congress street-smart

0

Andhra Pradesh Congress on Monday launched a novel protest against the injustice done to the state by NDA and TDP governments at the centre and state respectively, by filing cheating cases against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union minister Venkaiah Naidu and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
He also lead a rasta roko demanding arrest of the Modi and two Naidus’ in the case and wanted the police file an FIR. Later he was arrested along with many Congress leaders.

The program, launched by APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy, attracted thousands of people and party workers. Accompanied by party workers Raghuvira Reddy filed cheating cases against Modi, Venkaiaha and Chandrababu in Madakasira police station. It’s a three-day program and will continue tomorrow and day after tomorrow also.

The cases will be booked at every police station in the state. Reddy (he is not a Reddy by community but a Yadava from Anantapur district) by taking recourse to novel protests breathed a new lease of life into the Congress party, which faced rout in 2014 election. At a time when many leaders are quitting the party giving an impression that Congress would not get revived in the state, Raghuvira with his unique style made Congress a vibrant opposition party. Even though the party could not enter the assembly, Raghuvira succeeded in making the Congress street-smart by taking the organization to the streets and door steps of the people.

Earlier, he launched a crore-signature campaign on same issue of special status which brought all the Congress leader together. The campaign, authored by Raghuvira Reddy himself, had given the party to recover from the shock it received during 2014 election and to touch nearly half of the house-holds in the state. According to party sources, the success of this campaign compelled AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi to visit Anantapur district and interact with the families of the farmers who chose suicide as deliverance from the indebtedness. In fact, Rahul patted the Congress for its efforts to revive the organization and assured that he was ready to fight for the special status. It was Rahul’s announcement that “special status is Andhra’s right” that made the issue a political slogan in Andhra Pradesh.

Today’s filing of cases, though a symbolic one, helped Congress educate the people that Modi, Venkaiah Naidu and Chandrababu Naidu were responsible for the denial of special status.

According to Raghuvira, these three leaders literally cheated the people of Andhra Pradesh by backing out on the special status for their own personal political reasons.” We have submitted a video CD which shows the election assurances of these leaders on special status, documentary evidence in the form poll agenda, posters, newspaper clippings etc,” he said.

In Kurnool, former minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy filed cases against Modi and two Naidus. APCC vice president Devineni Nehru filed a complaint in Machavaram police station in Vijayawada.

Congress is exploiting a situation where the recognized opposition YSRC party has reservations in attacking centre and Modi directly. While YSRCP puts the blame solely on TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu, AP Congress, on the other hand, is telling the people that both state and centre are culprits, which is seen by people as dispassionate and objective. Evidence for this is the response Raghuvira is getting for his calls.

“Jagan trying to score brownie points with Modi”

0

Jagan came under heavy fire from Congress for his anti-Rahul remarks from Jantar Mantar. Though entered late into the fray, Jagan, with his big presence in the Assembly and outside, wants to grab attention in Andhra Pradesh. In fact, Jagan gave the call for  New Delhi dharna only after Rahul Gandhi questioned from Anantapur district and announced  that he would come to any place in Andhra Pradesh and anytime to fight to get special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

The self-immolation of  its worker Munikoti in Tirupati on Saturday, chanting, Jai Congress and Jai Sonia, has given Congress new lease of life. Now, Jagan wants to hijack the issue from Congress. He mobilized two train-loads of people to New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar for a dharna and a march to parliament. Congress sees Jagan’s visit to Munikoti’s house on Tuesday is also a  part of the larger strategy.

Andhra Pradesh Congress president N Rahuvira Reddy accused Jagan of trying to sabotage the movement. He said attacking Rahul, who was genuinely fighting for special status, was tantamount to sabotaging the movement and split it.

He said Jagan had courage to criticize PM Modi, who was primarily responsible for denying the special status.

“In stead of joining our movement, you are criticizing Rahul. What would be the motive other than creating a split and earn kudos from Prime Minister Modi,” Raghuvira asked. By talking too much, Jagan was exposing his immaturity of politics, the PCC president said.

He reiterated the party stand that Congress would file cases against Prime Minister Modi, urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu and  chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for openly betraying the people of the state in all  1200 police station across Andhra Pradesh.

In Delhi, Rajya Sabha member J D Seelam also launched a scathing attack on Jagan.

“For fifteen months you have never raised the issue. It is the Congress which has been consistently demanding special status. You took up the matter and  gave a call for Dharna only after Rahul Gandhi declared his support and launched a campaign for achieving Special Status, ”  former union minister and Congress Rajya Sabha member JD Seelam said.

Pointing to Jagan’s remarks against Rahul, he said, the remarks were meant to earn some brownie points from Prime Minister Modi.

“Everybody knows you have moved closer to Modi to save your skin from the court cases. You want to reassure Modi that your don’t  have soft corner for the AICC vice-president,” he alleged.

Seelam reminded Jagan that it was Rahul who coined the slogan, ” Special status -Andhra’s right” which had become a mantra on tongues of every Telugu person.

Farm CM and Foreign CM : Telugus’ Cause of Worry

0

Telugu states were thrown into chaos and crisis looming in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana because of foreign-chief minister and farm-chief minister, said Andhra Pradesh Congress.

APCC president N Raghuvira Reddy assailed the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for their penchant for absenteeism in capital.

“One sits in form house in Prgngapur and wants to rule Telangana state and while AP CM loves foreign jaunts and likes a remote-rule from the comforts there,” Raghuvira said accompanied by senior Congress leaders such as former minister Sailajanath, Rudraraju Padma Raju and  N Tulasi Reddy.

” Monsoon are playing truant. There is no water in reservoirs. Loan waiver has not benefited farmers and input subsidy is still not available. In stead of addressing these immdiate issues, Andhra Pradesh chief minister finds himself always in one country or the other, T-chief minister operates from his safe haven farm-house,” he said. Raguvira demanded immediate help for farmers and added that Congress would be forced to launch agitation soon.

Rs 1000 cr Coal Scam in Andhra Pradesh

0

“A ‘Coalgate” surfaced in Andhra Pradesh in which Andhra Pradesh government has imported huge quantity of coal from unknown countries at the higher rates fixed in 2013 when prices were on higher side. Even though the coal prices have fallen from $ 70 to $ 50 because of lack of demand globally. TDP government continued coal imports at the old rates causing huge loss to exchequer. In the process, about Rs 1000 crore have been pocketed by the Big Boss and Small Boss of Telugu Desam party.”

This is the charge leveled by Andhra Pradesh PCC president N Raghuvira Reddy on Sunday. According to Reddy, the coal was imported through two companies- Adani Group and Maheswari. Adani Groups is most favored company of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.

Revealing the details of Coal Scam to media, Raghuvira Reddy said in 2013, to meet the demand of VTPS, KTPS and Rayalaseema Thermal plant, the then Congress government imported 12 lakh MTs of coal. As per the norms, the government can import 20 per cent more coal over and above the quantity specified in the contract. But, the TDP government continued the same old suppliers and old rates by renewing their contracts five times unmindful of the fall in the prices. Reddy, said the state government procured 20.25 lakh MTs that is 200 per cent more coal than that of specified in the contract. Even though the charges for the transportation of the coal to the sites of power plants was also included in the contract, TDP government had paid transport charges to tune of Rs 100 crore to these companies , he said

Raghuvira Reddy’s charges against the TDP government are:

  1. State government paid $72 per ton when the prevailing price is just $ 50
  2. Instead of inviting fresh bids for the supply of coal in changed global prices, TDP government renewed the old contracts with old rates which were signed when the prices were on higher side.
  3. Contracts were renewed because Adanis are involved in the supply of coal. The groups is owned by a businessman close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  4. The principal beneficiaries of ‘Andhra Coalgate’ are chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and his party.
  5. Tender norms have been modified to suit Adani Group.
  6. This is all happened under the nose of chief minister Naidu, who is also the power minister.

The APCC president said government should place all the records related to the procurement of coal from abroad before a meeting of all parties. He said his party would launch a movement against the brazen corruption of TDP government in the state.
