‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ first poster becomes a talking point

0

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s name is synonymous with controversies. He often indulges in controversies with his statements and movies. After raising the hackles of Vangaveeti’s family and fans by portraying the negative side of Vangaveeti Radha and Ranga with his recent outing, Ram Gopal Varma is now looking to rankle TDP supporters by directing a biopic on the late legendary actor and politician NTR.

RGV has ruffled the feathers of NTR family by giving the film’s title as Lakshmi’s NTR. As seen from the title, RGV is likely to project the biopic more as from the angle on how Lakshmi Parvathy, NTR’s second wife, influenced him and his actions in politics during the last days. RGV already clarified that the film will be based on real happenings that led to the downfall of NTR’s regime.

Today, he has unveiled the first poster of this controversial film in which an anonymous woman is seen entering the house of a man who is setting in a chair dressed like NTR.

We have to wait and see how Nandamuri family and TDP supporters react on this poster.

Court orders police to arrest Ram Gopal Varma

0

The Vijayawada court directed the police to arrest controversial director Ram Gopal Varma and producer Dasari Kiran Kumar related to the Vangaveeti movie case.

Vangaveeti Radha Krishna raised objections regarding the biopic of his father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga who was killed in gang wars of Vijayawada during 1988.

Even though Varma met Radha Krishna and his mother ahead of the release but the discussions did not go off well. Nonetheless, the maverick ignored their objections and allegedly distorted the facts in the film ultimately insulting Vangaveeti family.

Radha Krishna knocked the doors of the court as they alleged that the movie is filled with half-truths and does not depict the actual character of Mohana Ranga.

The court ordered the police to register FIR and arrest director Varma and producer Kiran Kumar.

RGV’s sensational statements on NTR biopic

0

It’s known news that Nandamuri Bala Krishna is planning to make a movie on legendary NTR’s biopic. Though the name of the director hasn’t been officially announced yet, there have been rumors that mega phone might be given to RGV or Puri or Deva Katta. Also there were rumors that Deva Katta of Prasthanam fame was associated with script development process of this movie. Later director Ram Gopal Varma announced that he will be doing a movie based on NTR’s biopic. But there was some confusion as hero Bala Krishna never confirmed the name of director for this movie. Also, NTR fans worried about RGV wielding megaphone, thanks to his recent track record.

However, today RGV shocked everyone with his facebook post. He announced that his movie based on NTR’s biopic will be titled as Lakshmi’s NTR and this movie will be narrated from the perspective of Lakshmi Parvathi. He also announced that movie will have the episodes related to viceroy hotel, NTR being back stabbed by his son-in-law Chandra Babu.

But Lakshmi Parvathi confirmed that she was not been approached by RGV yet. But she told she will welcome the movie if she likes the script. There are also some doubts among the people that Bala Krishna might have refused to give opportunity to RGV for his movie and that’s why RGV is trying to blackmail the makers of NTR biopic by announcing counter movie for this biopic from Lakshmi Parvathi’s perspective. Let’s wait and see what happens finally to these proposed movies!!!

How Varma was Finalized to Direct NTR’s Biopic?

A project in the combination of Ram Gopal Varma and Balakrishna Nandamuri was least expected until an official announcement was made the other day. Telugu film lovers and Nandamuri fans may be wondering how come Balayya finalized Varma for the highly prestigious ‘NTR’s Biopic’ despite having a clear idea of the maverick director’s recent track record. Well, the decision wasn’t made in a day.

Our reliable sources have informed that Varma has been in talks with Balayya for three months to helm NTR’s biopic. The duo have been frequently meeting since the past three months and discussing this sensational project, which can create innumerable controversies if not dealt with carefully.

In fact, Balayya has been in possession of the bound script of NTR’s biopic for a long time. Actor-cum-politician Murali Mohan’s son-in-law Vishnu Induri has been longing to enter film industry with the biopic of NTR. For that, he has prepared a script by assembling the exciting and intricate parts of NTR’s life after a thorough research. He took the help of director Deva Katta in penning this script. He even made efforts to make this film in the direction of Deva Katta, but the proposal was dropped feeling that the director was not a big brand enough to direct NTR’s biopic.

At one point, Balayya seriously contemplated on directing this project. However, he finally decided not to take any risk and rope in an experienced director instead. After several senior as well as established directors refrained from touching NTR’s life story, fearing backlash from certain sections, the fearless Varma was finally approached.

It is heard that Puri Jagannath, a devoted disciple of Varma, played a crucial role in the process of NTR’s biopic landing in his Guru’s lap. It is known that Puri is currently directing Balayya in ‘Paisa Vasool’. The senior actor used to have meetings with Varma on the sets of Puri’s film only.

With a controversial director like Varma on board to film the ‘Complex’ life story of NTR, we need to see how much sensation the biopic creates.

RGV Quits Twitter!! Publicity Stunt for ‘Guns & Thighs’?

Genius yet controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who is infamous as the ‘Twitter King’, has shocked his ardent followers as well as detractors by quitting the micro-blogging site on Saturday.

For the past few years, Varma has been using Twitter platform as a weapon to create controversies, troll celebrities and take digs at whatever the issue or whoever the person that can land him on the front pages. So, his act of bidding adieu to the platform has naturally come as a shocker to everyone.

First, Varma said that he would announce an unpleasant news on 8 this evening. A few moments later, citing that he couldn’t wait, Varma declared his decision of quitting twitter. He said ‘No Thanks’ to followers for following him all these years.

“My pleasantly unpleasant surprise is I am getting out of Twitter…To all my followers, no thanks for following me all these years,” he tweeted.

Varma joined twitter on 27th May 2009 and has been entertaining twitterati ever since with controversies, jibes and trolls. His infamous twitter handle @RGVzoomin got deactivated on 27th May, 2017, exactly eight years later.

In his last tweet, Varma wrote, “This my last tweet before my tweet death..but I will not RIP nd seriously work from now on @RGVzoomin Birth:27/5/2009 Death:27/5/2017 (sic).”

RGV however said that he will stay in touch with fans on photo and video sharing platform Instagram. “I decided to speak only through pictures and videos on Instagram from now on,” he wrote in his penultimate tweet.

Varma’s action of quitting twitter is being seen as a new publicity stunt to promote his debut web series ‘Guns & Thighs’, which looked as a rehash of his gangster films with loads of vulgarity, violence and nudity.

Maverick director’s next a biopic on Nathuram Godse

In his latest interview to a leading news daily, RGV revealed that he has already started working on the script for his next project. He said that the film will be a biopic based on Nathuram Godse, the Mahatma Gandhi assassin.

Through out his career, RGV has largely dabbled with the stories of many controversial issues and personalities. ‘Sarkar 3’: Ram Gopal Varma returns to form, thanks to Mr. Bachchan

Sarkar 3 Review

It is easy to see the third instalment of Ram Gopal Varma’s “Sarkar” franchise as an unnecessary carryover of a saga that has lost its relevance and sheen. But “Sarkar 3” rises far above the wasteland of a stagnant crime-drama to give us an insight into a life of outlawry that is richly layered with blood and drama.

Bal Thackeray is dead. Long live Bal Thackeray. In Amitabh Bachchan’s persona –steely, gritty, imperturbable, granite-hard and yet malleable and vulnerable — the Thackeray doppelganger is uncanny. The walk, the talk and the ability to walk that talk to places where the dialogue writer would never have imagined. Take a bow, Mr B. They don’t make em like you anymore.

It takes courage to build one more plot around that formidable and imposing figure from Maharashtra’s politics who rewrote the rules of politics and who gave political arrogance a sexy edge. The last Sarkar film came 9 years ago. And the figure of Subhash Nagre is now threatened with obsolescence, if not complete irrelevance.

And yet here lies Varma’s triumph. He manufactures a compelling if somewhat cramped and at times campy yarn of a wizened but still-spirited political outlaw who has no appetite for betrayal and disloyalty.

“In order to understand politics you first need to get a hang of the politics in the family. It’s called Palace politics,” says Subhash Nagre, slurping tea out of the plate while, please note, the grandson Shivaji (Amit Sadh in engaging form) also slurps over his cuppa.

Lineage, continuity and perpetuity are big in “Sarkar 3”. Outsiders are seen as traitors and marauders. In fact the film makes a pitch for nepotism in crime and politics arguing that absolute loyalty can only be traced in the bloodline. In blueprinting this genealogical fact of clannish life, the narrative stretches the tendons of its muscular drama into scenes that are constructed robustly and at times with enrapturing vividness.

There are some terrific shootouts in this film reminiscent of episodes from Ram Gopal Varma’s best gangster films in the past. Parking lots are a favourite haunt for violence in this film. Ram Gopal Varma seems to tell us there’s more to cars than Rohit Shetty. Indeed “Sarkar 3” marks the return to form for the long-disoriented filmmaker. He cuts and shoots the scenes in long shots and breathless pauseless frames that cover the dramatic tension without toppling over into overstatements.

Manoj Bajpai joins the gang-war somewhere in the preamble and opts out too soon. He has some of the best lines on the criminalization of politics. Sadly the script doesn’t listen to Bajpai’s harangue, busy as it is hero-worshipping the outlawed aging hero. Bajpai’s one sequence with Mr. Bachchan where Bajpai’s character Govind Deshpande mocks Mr. Bachchan’s Nagre from a public podium for subverting Gandhian ideals is worth its weight in gold.

Of course Varma being Varma he does like shooting his actors from odd angles, like Yami Gautam, who has never looked more seductive, captured from inside the handle of a teacup. Tea-hee.

The women, Gautam, Supriya Pathak and Rohini Hattangadi get little space in this predominantly masculine war of supremacy. And that one scene where Hattangadi blows a kiss at her screen son would have you whistling in excitement.

The background score didn’t have to be persuasive, though. We get the point without the over-punctuation.

Strangely very few people get killed in the course of the storytelling although the body count seems a lot higher. And when archvillain Jackie Shroff, swimming and sexing in Dubai, dies at the end “that’s not a spoiler, it’s nemesis”, we feel a surge of empathy for the Nagre family that has lost a lot of blood, but never in vain.

Watch “Sarkar 3” for the way Varma frames the familial feud in flames of fury. The performances are largely effective specially those by Ronit Roy and Amit Sadh. The latter comes into his own as Mr Bachchan’s uncontrollable grandson. But above all, this is one more triumphant celluloid outing for Amitabh Bachchan who invests his role of the aging tiger-neta with a kind of cosmic resonance that goes way beyond that famous baritone.

Yup, they don’t make star-actors like Amitabh Bachchan any more. Ram Gopal Varma reminds us of the Bachchan charisma in ways that are deeply nostalgic and exceedingly provocative.

Film: “Sarkar 3”;
Director: Ram Gopal Varma;
Starring: Amitabh Bachchan, Amit Sadh, Manoj Bajpai, Ronit Roy, Yami Gautam;

RGV charged of Plagiarism: Gets Slammed by Bombay High Court

0

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma pinned all his hopes on Sarkar 3 which is all set for a massive release on May 12th. There have been allegations that the ace director denied giving the credits for the script of the film which has been penned by Nilesh Girkar. Nilesh approached Bombay High Court early this year and the court redirected Varma to give the credits for Nilesh and settle the pending dues of Rs 6.40 lakhs before the court.

Bombay High Court gave five weeks time for RGV’s team to submit their arguments and with no one approaching, Sarkar 3 will have the title cards ‘Based on a story written by Nilesh Girkar’. Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam and Ronit Roy played the lead roles in Sarkar 3. Ram Gopal Varma remained away to make a comment on this.

RGV fined 10 lakhs for remaking iconic hit

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakhs by the Delhi high court for remaking the 1975 iconic hit Sholay and violating the copyrights held by Ramesh Sippy who is the director of the original version. Few months ago, a lawsuit was filed by the grandson of the Sholay’s producers alleging that RGV has viloated the exclusive copyright vested with the Sholay Media and Entertainment Ltd.

After taking a due consideration into the copyrights ,the court has directed the concerned authorities to issue the order to RGV and his production house and restrained them from using any character from Sholay in future as well. Nisha Kothari Speaks About Bullet Rani

In Bullet Rani, Nisha Kothari, a police officer faces problems from a high command of a political party. There is no hero but there are four songs and five action sequences in this out and out commercial masala film. Nisha Kothari gets hit by six bullets and she emerges unscathed, continues to fight and earns the sobriquet Bullet Rani. Director Sajid Qureshi says he selected Nisha Kothari as he was looking for  someone with a bold image and she fit the bill perfectly. A chat with the sultry item babe, heroine who dons a cop’s uniform and a lathi to teach the erring politicians and rowdies a lesson.

Is this your first action film?

Yes, I love being a cop and enjoyed the shoot. This is a rare opportunity and I wanted to seize it. I am a tough person from within so it came naturally to me to play a police officer and moreover it is a beautiful role and it is always nice to do something different. When you get into the character, when you wear the costumes and lines are given to you, you are supposed to be believe what your director says. I did just that. Courage, dignity are qualities that appeal to me a lot and are inherent in me, this is a thorough commercial and an entertaining film. Bullet Rani goes out to take action on those criminals and when someone doesn’t listen to her she uses a bullet. When you deal with village rowdies you can’t talk to them, you make sense but they don’t – so in such situations this works.

How have you grown as an actor?

My film released in 2005 and it is ten years since I have been here. As a person you get to learn a lot. I always tell my friends that I live and die as Nisha but when you get into movies you experience many characters, get an insight which makes you grow as a person. I heard a quote of Osho..the luckiest person is one who gets to do something related to arts, it makes them grow spiritually. I met people, traveled, got fame and money and recognition and made some beautiful friends. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Are you happy with your career?

I am extremely thankful to RGV, he has been very kind in giving me a break. When you are actor and you are an outsider you don’t dictate. You choose from what best is given to you. We all have dreams but everything doesn’t turn around according to our choice. I feel we should move on, when things are right, time is right..everything will fall in place. For ten years I have been a part of movies. I just wanted to be an actor, it was a dream, When I got my first film I thought that was enough and my dream was fulfilled but I have been going on for ten years. Am I not lucky?

How did you hang on for ten years?

Now a days competition is too high. Years back, becoming an actor wasn’t appealing to all as family members didn’t support. Now it is different, there is exposure, there is value , money and respect. The girls these days have no patience and are taking short cut. If  you are attached to the actor tag, take your status too personally and let the ego get to you it gets difficult to handle it. Depression takes over when expectations are too high. If you do something now and you want the result tomorrow, it doesn’t work and it is not the right attitude either. A tree doesn’t grow in one day. I follow yoga and meditation, that helps a lot. If we adopt a correct regimen, it helps. Bad life style, drugs, suicide, no parental support and time, lack of love in life also affects. I am a student of this universe, I am not an actor first. Tomorrow I find something better as a career I will take it up. Last month in USA I did a workshop, spoke everyday on yoga and meditation, motivational activity. My life is open, no key. I keep my future open.
