Domestic Weekend Report : Saamy & Nannu Dochukunduvate are Disasters

It has been a poor weekend at the domestic box-office with both the notable releases Saamy & Nannu Dochukundhuvate failing big time.

Saamy : After a Below Par Opening the film fell badly on Saturday & couldn’t show any growth on Sunday instead went down in some centres. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 2 crores in it’s opening weekend against the valued rights of 8 crores. DISASTER !

Nannu Dochukundhuvate : After a poor opening the film couldn’t show much growth on Saturday & Sunday even with better reports resulting it to be a big Disaster. It has collected a distributor share of 1 crores in it’s opening weekend against the valued rights of 5 crores. DISASTER !

Shailaja Reddy Alludu : The film has collected an estimated distributor share of more than 1.10 Cr in it’s second weekend taking 11 days total to over 15.70 Cr. Theatrical rights of the film are valued at 21 cr which means a recovery of approx 75 percent. Flop !

U-Tunn The film has collected an estimated distributor share of 50 lakhs in it’s second weekend taking cumulative total to 4.50 Crore against the valued theatricals of 7.50 Crores. With a mere recovery of 60 percent so far, the film isn’t going anywhere. DISASTER !

Geetha Govindam : The film in it’s sixth weekend has continued to feed some theatres. Cummulative share of the film has gone past 56 Crores. BLOCKBUSTER !

Vikram’s ‘Saamy’ bombs big time!

It’s been a while that the super talented actor Chiyaan Vikram has scored a proper hit. Despite teaming up with top directors in the past, he could not manage to be on the success line. So he preferred to do his favourite genre i.e, cop drama.

Accordingly Vikram has collaborated with director Hari for ‘Saamy.’ Although the trailer and songs have garnered a good response, the film which had hit the screens yesterday did not live up to the expectations. As the film has ended up as a disaster, Vikram has bagged one more flop.

Well, there no doubts that Vikram is a gifted actor but he needs to change the way he is selecting the script as audience are now looking for contemporary subjects even without commercial elements.

‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ is the next project of Vikram. Being directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film has been in production stages for quite some time now. May be the film will have its release by the end of this year.

Hopefully ‘Dhurva Natachathiram’ will bring back Vikram to success streak!

Saamy trailer : ‘Singam’ Hari mark commercial fare

Saamy Trailer

Tamil director Hari is known for churning out masala entertainers. He is popular with the ‘Singam’ franchise starring Suriya as a powerful cop. Now, he is coming up with one more cop drama titled as Saamy Square which is the sequel to his 2003 film Saamy.

The Telugu version of Saamy Square is titled as Saamy and the theatrical trailer has been unveiled this Saturday. The trailer presents Vikram as an irreverent and no-nonsense cop Parasurama Swamy who singlehandedly punches criminals into air with disdain.

The trailer is laden with action elements and hints that the film is going to be another commercial fare in Singam Hari’s trademark style. Keerthi Suresh gets a fun-loving and effervescent girl’s role. Going by the visuals in the two minute trailer, audience to witness another fast-paced typical cop drama with plenty of mass elements.

The music score is done by Devi Sri Prasad.
