Nasscom’s Centre of Excellence on DS&AI to come up in Hyderabad

0

Nasscom, in partnership with the Telangana government, will establish a Centre of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence here, it was announced on Tuesday.

An MoU for this was signed by the state government and The National Association of Software & Services Companies (Nasscom) on Tuesday on the sidelines of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT).

To be established in public-private partnership mode, the CoE is the latest addition to Nasscom’s ‘hub-and-spoke’ network of CoEs across major locations in the country, aimed at evangelizing new and emerging technologies, the computer industry’s apex body said.

With an initial joint investment of Rs 40 crore, the centre will catalyze the growth of the deep tech ecosystem in Telangana, by providing the stimulus for innovation and in-depth research in the areas of data science and artificial intelligence.

Leveraging its partner and member ecosystem, Nasscom will work to enable industry-oriented research, augment citizen-centric solutions, promote data-driven decision making, enhance academic capacities, and support appropriate skills building and talent development through the CoE.

The CoE will serve as a platform for intelligence-sharing and technology collaboration between stakeholders to build collective capabilities for the industry and country in the cutting-edge areas of data science and artificial intelligence.

It will provide high-end technology, field expertise, and curated programs to augment capabilities across academia, enterprises, government, innovators and advanced start-ups.

The MoU was signed by Telangana’s Information Technology Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Nasscom President R. Chandrasekhar in the presence of Telangana IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao.

Jayesh Ranjan said the CoE will be temporarily come up in the campus of International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and will be later shifted to Data Analytics Park to come up at Budvel on the city outskirts.

“The government is keen to create a robust Data Science & Artificial Intelligence ecosystem for the various stakeholders to thrive, by providing support, mentorship, and other capabilities. This CoE is in the direction for developing Telangana and India as global hub for DS & AI in the coming years,” said Rama Rao.

“The vision behind this CoE is to consolidate and streamline efforts in this space by building state-of-the-art infrastructure to amplify the impact that India can indigenously create. With the opportunities that digital technologies present, this CoE-DS&AI is strategically placed to provide data-backed solutions to critical and complex problems across the country and globe,” said Chandrashekhar.

Data science and artificial intelligence technologies allow harnessing complex, high volume, high speed data into insights for decision making, emerging as the one of biggest growth opportunities for India to capitalize on. In recent times, artificial intelligence has found applications across industries including financial services, automotive, healthcare, and retail.

It is expected that the data science and artificial intelligence industry in India will be worth $16 billion by 2025, and is likely to spur an additional employment of 150,000 professionals in the country.

6-year-old girl’s letter stuns KTR!

0

Thanks to the popularity of social media, it has become relatively easy to reach out politicians and express our displeasure over government’s rule. Similarly, citizens also make use of the same social media to bring political attention to the problems they face in their society. A 6-year-old has done the same. In fact, she was appreciated by the Telangana IT Minister KTR himself.

Going into the details, a 6-year-old girl, studying 1st grade in a local school wrote a letter trying to resolve a persisting problem in her locality.

‘Dear KTR Uncle

I am Supriya, 6-years-old studying 1st Class at St. Pious School, Alwal Hills. Kids are begging at Suchitra Junction. I request you to provide food, shelter and education for them in this regard. I would like to donate my Kiddy Bank amount Rs. 2000 by meeting you.
Thanks,

Supriya, Alwal’

A snapshot of the above-written letter was tweeted by the girl’s father to KTR on Twitter. Soon, they received a reply from the official account of KTR, thanking the little girl, and promising that the government would take care of the children, the girl has mentioned. It’s not shocking to know, the tweet has been liked and retweeted thousands of times.

Kodandaram to launch new political party in Telangana today?

0

Kodandaram Political Part, Telangana Today

Kodandaram, chairman of all-party Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (T-JAC), which is formed for fighting for separate Telangana state and currently working as Telangana activist group, made a sensational statement yesterday that . soon the T-JAC organization is transforming into a political party.

Political JAC chairman Kodandaram announced that there is a strong necessity for new political party in the state of Telangana. He also told there will be an announcement this sunday regarding the new political party. Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) is meeting today and will have wide range discussions on the formation of new political party. Though he didn’t clearly mention whether the name of the party will be revealed tomorrow, he clarified that there are several names already considered and that also will be discussed in today’s conference. The meeting will be attended by social workers, social activists, and experts from various fields.

There have been rumors since several months about Kodandaram plunging into politics soon. But there was no clarity on whether he will join opposition party Congress or he will have his own outfit. Probably upcoming announcement from Kodandaram will clarify many such doubts but we will have to see whether he will be able to start a new era in Telangana politics.

Missing Telangana cop traced in Andhra

0

A police officer of Telangana probing two sensational murder cases and who had gone ‘missing’ was on Saturday traced in Andhra Pradesh.

M. Venkateswarlu, circle inspector at II town police station in Nalgonda, was found in Bapatla town of Nalgonda district in the neighbouring state.

Inspector General of Police Stephen Ravindra told the media that the inspector was safe and a police team had left for Bapatla to bring him back.

Venkateswarlu disappeared after leaving his weapon and official mobile phone at the police station on Friday. His personal mobile phone was also switched off and the efforts of senior officials to reach him proved futile.

The police official was probing two sensational cases including murder of the husband of Nalgonda municipal chairperson Boddupally Lakshmi belonging to opposition Congress.

Bodupally Srinivas was murdered by few people near his residence on the night of January 24. He was a close follower of former minister and Congress legislator Komatireddy Venkatreddy.

The town was rocked by another brutal murder on January 29. The decapitated head of a 25-year-old P. Ramesh was found kept on the wall of a roadside religious structure. Police later recovered the torso from another place.

Venkateswarlu had reportedly told his close associates that he was under pressure from his seniors on the one side and politicians on the other.

A senior police official, however, had said that the inspector may be facing some personal problems.

Telangana Congress chief accepts minister’s challenge

0

Accepting the challenge of Telanagana IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao, state Congress chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that he and his wife and sitting legislator Padmavathi Reddy would retire from politics if the Congress did not come to power in next elections.

However, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao must also announce that he, along with his son Rama Rao (Minister), daughter K. Kavitha (MP) and nephew T. Harish Rao (Minister) will retire from politics if Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) loses the elections.

Reddy told reporters that he is unconditionally accepting the challenge posed by Rama Rao. However, he said that the Chief Minister himself should make the announcement of retirement from politics of his entire family if Congress comes to power in Telangana.

He said Rama Rao’s challenge only reflected his arrogance and the power of arrogance has turned TRS leaders blind to the extent that they were not willing to see the sufferings of common people.

No section of the society benefitted from the TRS regime during the last four years, and except for four members of just one family, no one gained from the formation of Telangana State, said Reddy.

He was confident the Congress would win more than 70 seats in next elections, irrespective of whether they are held in December or next year.

Telangana Congress leader terms Jairam Ramesh’s remarks mischievous

0

Congress leader from Telangana M. Shashidhar Reddy said on Tuesday that party leader Jairam Ramesh’s remarks that Rahul Gandhi had become a “full-time politician” post-Gujarat were “mischievous” and asked him not to make remarks that force AICC to issue clarifications.

Referring to Ramesh’s remarks in a recent interview that senior Congress leaders should act as “mentors and not tormentors”, he said it had forced the party’s communications incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala to clarify that those were personal remarks of the former union minister.

Reddy, a former Vice Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority, also referred to Ramesh’s other remarks and said “I suggest Jairam Ramesh should refrain from making such comments repeatedly, necessitating official denial or rebuttal from the AICC.”

He said Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said more than once that his new team would be combination of youth and experience.

Reddy said he had suggested before Rahul Gandhi took over as party chief in December last that there was need for “Kamaraj Plan: Version 2” and all members of Congress Working Committee and office-bearers of All India Congress Committee should submit their resignations to give him a free hand to revamp the party.

Maoists go on rampage in Telangana, 1 killed

0

Maoists went on rampage in Telangana’s Bhadradri Kothagudem district early Saturday, killing one and injuring another former guerrilla member, whom they suspected of being police informers.

The Maoists also set ablaze several vehicles in three separate incidents in the district bordering Chhattisgarh.

The extremists of Communist Party of India (Maoist) struck after midnight.

They shot dead P. Jogaiah, who died on the spot in the attack in Veerapuram village.

Maoists also opened fire on another person at Suryanagar in Bhadrachalam town in the same district. M. Ramesh escaped with bullet injuries on his hand.

Both Jogaiah and Ramesh were former Maoists. Police said they were attacked as Maoists suspected them to be acting as informers for police.

The Maoists also burnt down four trucks, two JCBs and a tractor at Bhupatiraopet in the same district.

They abducted two workers from one of the trucks but later released them.

The attackers left behind a letter saying their action was in protest against the illegal sand mining in the area.

About 40 to 50 Maoists, who had reportedly crossed over from Chhattisgarh, carried out the attacks after forming three teams.

Following the attacks, police sounded an alert in the area and launched combing operations.

Telangana was once the stronghold of Maoists but their activities have been brought under control by sustained police operations.

Police claimed that in 2017, Maoist violence declined by 90 per cent.

Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy said in December 2017, that the police were maintaining the vigil, especially in areas bordering Chhattisgarh to foil any attempt by Maoists to regroup.

Two Telangana cops caught in illicit affair suspended

0

The Telangana government on Tuesday suspended a woman police officer and an Inspector after they were allegedly caught having an extramarital affair.

Home Minister N. Narasimha Reddy ordered the suspension of D. Sunitha Reddy, an Additional Superintendent of Police with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Y. Mallikarjun Reddy, a Circle Inspector.

In a statement, the Minister said since their activities had “brought a bad name to the Police Department”, they have been suspended.

He said action will be taken against police personnel found sullying the department’s image.

Sunitha’s husband Surender Reddy and other relatives allegedly caught her in the act with the Circle Inspector at their house in Kukatpally here early Monday. Surender, his mother and mother-in-law hit Mallikarjuna Reddy, who is also married, with slippers. The video went viral on the social media.

Surender said he suspected his wife’s affair with Mallikarjuna and confirmed it by checking her mobile phone. He said Sunitha did not mend her ways despite warnings.

She met her alleged paramour about two years ago during a case investigation.

On a complaint by Surender, police registered a case of trespass, adultery and criminal intimidation against Mallikarjun, who is posted at Kalwakurthy in Nagarkurnool district.

Why PK’s Yatra is one step forward 100steps backwards?

0

Pawan Kalyan praises KCR in chalo re chalo re chal

Actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan has started his Yatra in a state where a Professor who fought for Statehood was time and again denied permission. Everytime the professor sought a permission, court had to decide on the due course of action. In past three years the chief minister never met this professor who was an associate of Telangana idealogue Professor Jayashankar. On the other hand Jana Sena Chief starts his chalo re chalo re chal campaign from Telangana. Gets all the lime light which no other party could get but ends up showering praises on KCR. He went ahead and said, “KCR united political parties and people believe that Telangana transpired because of KCR”.

This certainly answers the question as to how he got the permission for his Yatra. Pawan Kalyan who otherwise claims that he is an ardent reader, certainly needs better understanding of Telangana agitation. He had the best chance to emerge as alternative force due to the support from youth segment. Kalyan is miles away from reaching out to students of Osmania University which was the Telangana Porugadda. He will be nothing more than a movie star for people of Telangana.

It is evident that he rejected BJP’S invitation but swore allegiance to KCR .

Is it a hint towards third front or is Jana Sena’s ally TDP merging with TRS? While time will answer the question, Kalyan’s tour certainly is not for all people to tell him his problems.

By showering praises on KCR, he has already conveyed the message to people that he will go soft on government and there is no pointing bringing issues to his notice.

T-TDP leaders sending wrong signals??

1

Telangana TDP leaders L.Ramana and Prakash Reddy, made a sort of sensational comments in a recent interview in a TV channel. People in Telangana who still have soft corner towards TDP because of the reforms introduced by late NTR in Telangana find fault with the statements of these two leaders. They made these comments while analyzing the reasons for TDP’s current position in Telangana.

When the moderator of the program asked about TDP joining hands with other parties, they made a comment that, in 2019, without the support of TDP, no party can come to the power. They added, whenever KCR made attempts to stab TDP, in fact congress got strengthened, though TDP was not weakened. TDP leader also analyzed that Revuri Prakash Reddy analyzed that after KCR attempts to make TDP zero in Telangana, Congress became so powerful and now both TRS and Congress will have neck-to-neck fight in 2019 elections. Because of this neck-to-neck fight, it seems none of these two parties can form the government individually and eventually have to depend on TDP to form the government.

Obviously, in an attempt to highlight how crucial TDP “may” become in future in Telangana, they have actually revealed how pathetic the situation is. It is to be recalled that TDP-BJP alliance got 20 seats in Telangana in 2014 elections while Congress party got 21 seats. TDP got 19.5% vote share and BJP got 7% votes, i.e. together they got around 26.5% vote share where as Congress got 25% vote share. Even though “operation akarsh” by KCR has damaged TDP a lot the core vote bank of TDP not damaged to that extent, thanks to strong base for the party in BCs. SO the anchor in the program, who himself is known as strong supporter of TDP asked these two leaders – “What can you do with 3-8% votebank that you have”. For this, these TDP leaders replied that it may increase to 10-15% by the time of elections. SO, it seems even these leaders as well as this anchor forgot that, it is just 3 years back, TDP had 19.5% vote bank.

What people though after watching this program is this – If the leaders are aiming to completely revive the party and spend all their energies to bring back the glory that the party had couple of years back, they at least raise to the level that they will become crucial in the upcoming elections. But if these leaders themselves, aiming to occupy the third slot in the top parties list and hope the parties occupying the first two slots miss the magic figure and then one of those 2 parties will come to this third largest party to reach that magic number to form the government – at best it could be called “wishful thinking”. Party that still has cadre and that still has soft corner from people belonging to different social strata, doesn’t go anywhere with this kind of wishful thinking. What it needs is a vision and energetic leaders that commit to that vision. Operation Akarshas have become common in many states in India. But we have seen it several times, parties who once had zero strength or single digit strength in legislative assemblies have at later point of time got clean majority!!!

KCR wants Centre to devolve more funds to states

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to devolve more funds and powers to the states.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief said he wants the Centre to help states like Telangana which are growing faster as the wealth of the states will ultimately become wealth of the nation.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, also cautioned the Modi government against curtailing fast growing states by disincentivising them, saying this would amount to curtailing the nation’s growth.

Speaking at India Today south conclave here, he said while he appreciate Modi for increasing tax allocation to states from 30 to 42 per cent, he should fully implement slogan of cooperative federalism.

“He should devolve more funds and powers to the state. That should be slogan of the day. Unless you make states powerful, you will not become powerful.

“Wealth of every state should be considered wealth of the nation. Curtailing any state will be curtailing growth of the nation and the nation will not forget it,” KCR added.

On relations with Modi, he said Telangana like any other state was trying to have cordial relations with the Centre. “It’s for Modi to reciprocate,” he remarked.

The TRS chief reiterated the demand that the Centre should allow states to have own reservation policy based on their specific requirements.

He defended the move to provide 12 per cent reservation to minorities and also increase the quota for scheduled tribes from 6 per cent to 10 per cent.

KCR said he met the Prime Minister and explained him that different states have different dimensions and population scenarios.

“It’s for centre to rise and come forward and allow the states to go ahead with their independent reservation policy,” he said.

Pointing out that SCs, STs, backward classes and other weaker sections are 90 per cent of Telangana’s population, he said he can’t satisfy people with 50 per cent reservation.

He announced that TRS will raise the issue in the budget session of Parliament.

KCR also made it clear that he will remain equi-distance from both BJP and Congress. “We don’t see any requirement to go with anybody,” he said but added that anybody can come with the TRS.

He explained that within a short span of three and half years, Telangana had made rapid strides in many sectors and became number one state in the country in terms of own resources.

KCR listed out the steps taken by his government to overcome electricity shortage, revive rural economy, resolve crisis in agriculture and use allotted share of water from Godavari and Krishna rivers to irrigate one crore acre of land by 2020.

He said Telangana was spending Rs 40,000 crore annually, the highest by any state in the country, on welfare schemes. The government this year will be launching a new scheme to provide Rs 8,000 as investment assistance per acre annually to 71 lakh farmers.

Stating that there is no comparison with Andhra Pradesh, he said Telangana was much ahead of the neighbouring state.

He said his government was seeking Rs 20,000 crore loan from a bank in China for various infrastructure projects in Hyderabad. “The city needs an investment of Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore to become truly global city,” he said.

He assured that the government will ensure that Hyderabad infrastructure doesn’t crumble with the rapid growth.

‘Triangle’ groups in Nizamabad politics

0

Triangle groups have been formed in major political parties including TRS, Congress and BJP in Nizamabad and all the groups are targeting party tickets for upcoming elections.

Politics in Nizamabad Urban assembly segment, which born in 2009 delimitation of constituencies, has become hot topic with huge competition between leaders from same party. This assembly segment was a stronghold to Congress party but, it lost it in 2014 elections and the voters elected TRS. While Ganesh Gupta, who defeated D.Srinivas (then Congress leader and joined in TRS later), is sitting MLA from this segment and expecting party ticket for 2019 elections, D. Srinivas has been preparing grounds for introducing his son Sanjay. After the entry of D. Srinivas in TRS, equations in the politics of Nizamabad Urban have been changing day-by-day. The TRS workers split into two groups – DS Group and Ganesh Gupta group. As Sanjay has already started attracting voters with social service like ‘Free Marriages’ for his community (Munnuru Kapu) and health camps across the assembly segment, Ganesh Gupta went into defence and planning to launch Padayatras to reach voters. Besides these two leaders, Mr. Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy who is sitting MLA of Nizamabad Rural also desires in contesting from Urban in 2019.

In congress, three key leaders are eying on Nizamabad Urban ticket. While MLC Akula Lalitha desires to contest from here, leaders of Pradesh Congress Committee Ratnakar and Mahesh Kumar Goud have been visiting high command for tickets in upcoming elections. Congress has hopes on the ticket and wanting getting benefits with the group-war in TRS.

Even in BJP, there is triangle competition for Nizamabad Urban. The Ex-MLA Yendala Laxminarayana, who lost his seat in last elections, is seeking party ticket in 2019 general elections. Similarly, Mr. Baswa Laxminarayana who quit congress and joined BJP desires to contest from here. Suryanarayana, who lost election in 2014, is also seeking ticket from high command for 2019 elections.

BJP gets ‘migrations’ fear!

0

Telangana BJP leaders who have been working hard for strengthening party are in dilemma now over possibilities of migrations of top leaders from the party to TRS and Congress. Following the resignation of ex-MLA and top leader in Janagama district Mr. Kommuri Pratap Reddy, the speculations of few more resignations are choking the party.

Kommuri has already announced that his supporters along with heads of the party at Mandal level would also say goodbye to BJP soon. “I won as ZPTC member and MLA from BJP earlier. There is no discipline in party. I tried my level best in setting all things right. But, I failed. So that I have decided to leave the party and will decide about my future soon,” he said in a press meet. The words delivered by him are threatening the party’s state leaders.

Though the party is in power in central and getting good results in every election in states, the hopes in Telangana are being gotten down day-after-day. State leaders are blaming central ministers and high command for its adverse statements and appreciations to the TRS government. “The party’s key leaders have failed in convincing Mr. Kommuri, who did not get priority in new committees,” a state leader told telugu360.com

Waking up from Kommuri’s resignation, the party’s high command directed state leaders to list out possibilities of more resignations and speculations being spreading over against top leaders. “As per the preliminary list prepared by the state BJP, Mr. Nagam Janardhan Reddy is in disappointment and few leaders visited his residence and tried to convince him. Nagam made it clear that he was fighting against TRS government but, there was no support from state leaders. But, our leaders failed in convincing him. Similarly, few district level and Mandal level leaders on the way to shift to either TRS or Congress. Especially, few leaders are interested in shifting to congress in South Telangana,” the leader said.

Competition over domination in ‘Palamur’ Congress

0

Continuing tradition in undivided Mahbubnagar district in Telngana state, senior leaders of Congress Party still did not leave cold war for domination. The differences between leaders had lead to losing of Congress Party’s stronghold on the district and they did not learn lessons from the previous elections.

All the senior leaders now began their efforts in obtaining party tickets to their group leaders for upcoming general elections in 2019. Especially, the cold is reaching to peak between former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy and ex minister D.K. Aruna groups.

In Devarakadra Assembly Segment, party’s incharge Mr. Dokur Pavan Kumar Reddy is seeking a chance for second time for contesting as MLA while another group is supporting Katam Pradeep Kumar Goud. Another congress leader and advocate Madhusudhan Reddy is also in race for ticket which is leading triangle competition here. So far, D.K. Aruna is dominating this constituency and now, Jaipal Reddy’s group began poking into the politics here. Recently, the Jaipal’s group established cut-outs and banners related to New Year event in which Pradeep Kumar Goud wished the public of the constituency. Another group removed the banners by alleging photographs of their group leaders were disappeared and the matter went to FIR by local police.

Following this incident, all the aspirants have started announcements openly as themselves as candidates for upcoming elections. Besides this, leaders of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee have seriously condemned announcements of local leaders on candidates for few constituencies for coming elections in Amrabad last week. While TPCC Chief announced a senior leader as party’s candidate, local leaders during a public meeting announced another leader which is indicating indiscipline in the party. Similarly, competition over domination in Congress is being continued in Mahbubnagar and Alampur Assembly Constitutions.

Politics over ‘Medaram’

0

As the demands are being raised for the recognition of Asia’s biggest Tribal Fair ‘Medaram’ as ‘National Festival’, few political parties have begun moves to claim its credit if the central government responds positively on the proposal.

The tribal fair is observed once in every two years and more than one crore people visit Medaram during the event from seven states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which did not consider the demand earlier, is focusing on it as the NDA government is about to announce the fair as National Festival. Leaders of BJP from Telangana are frequently visiting union ministers in Delhi on the issue and utilizing every development on the proposal to claim their credit. “We have been visiting ministers and our government will announce the recognition due to our serious efforts,” a leader from BJP said.

TRS is also focusing on the matter and it will claim that the party’s pressure on central lead to the positive announcement. Endowment minister of TS A.Indrakaran Reddy has already called on Union Tribal Welfare Minister Jual Oram and submitted a representation on ‘Medaram’. Soon after the meeting, in the way of claiming credit, the Union Minister along with state BJP leaders held a press conference and informed the media that it would announce Medaram as National Festival soon and said that the fair might get recognition of UNICEF Heritage with the initiations of the central government.

Following the competition between TRS and BJP on ‘credit’ issue, Congress leaders have also started their politics on Medaram Fair. “We are inviting our chief Mr. Rahul Gandhi to the fair. He responded positively on the invitation. He may deliver a speech on tribal issues in the country at the event,” a source from Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee said. The Congress is on the way to attract tribal voters for upcoming 2019 general elections by utilizing the fair as a dais.
