Lokesh names Yarlagadda as Gannavaram TDP incharge

0

TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Wednesday announced the name of party leader Yarlagadda Venkatrao as the incharge of the party in Gannavaram Assembly constituency. He made this announcement before leaving the constituency during his Yuva Galam padayatra.

He called upon the rank and file of the party to work in coordination with Venkatrao and defeat sitting MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan in the coming elections. He said Vamsi was elected on the TDP ticket but had defected to the YSR Congress after the 2019 general election.

Stating that Gannavaram had been the TDP constituency for several years, he wanted the party leaders to ensure that the constituency remained with the TDP. He also recalled how Vamsi had insulted his mother and wanted the TDP cadre to take revenge on him.

Earlier in the day, Lokesh admitted several MPPs, former MPPs, ZPTCs and former ZPTCs into the party along with Venkatrao.

Later, Venkatrao asked the party leaders to work with him to see the defeat of Vamsi in the next election. He said that the YSR Congress leaders have insulted him in the last four years. He also alleged that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy did not give audience to him despite he is running around.

Venkatrao said that he would win the Gannavaram Assembly seat in the next election and show his power and that of the party to everyone.

Venkatrao said that the TDP cadre remained with the party despite Vamsi leaving it in 2019. He wanted those committed activists to stay with him.

He also said that he had come to politics only to do politics and not to be an anti-social element. He blamed Vamsi for lowering the image of an MLA by indulging in cheap talk. He called upon the rank and file to defeat Vamsi in the next election and give this seat as a gift to Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh.

Venkatrao declares his candidature from Gannavaram

0

Ruling YSR Congress leader Yarlagadda Venkatrao declared his candidature from the party for the 2024 general election from Gannavaram Assembly constituency in Krishna district. He lost the seat in the 2019 general election to TDP’s Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan.

After the YSR Congress formed the government, Vamsi had become an associate member of the ruling party and distanced himself from the TDP. Though he had been working with the ruling party, he did not build peace with Venkatrao and senior leader Dr Dutta Ramachandra Rao.

These two leaders have been opposing the entry of Vamsi into the party. Though Jagan Mohan Reddy held two rounds of meetings with them and told them to accept Vamsi in the party, things didn’t go well.

There has been a fight between Venkatrao and Vamsi in the constituency and are leading two separate groups of their own with the party supporters. It is said that Vamsi would be the YSR Congress candidate for the 2024 general election as chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is in his favour.

However, Venkatrao, on Monday declared his candidature from the party for the next election. He said he would contest the election from Gannavaram and there was no going back on the proposal. He turned down the rumours of joining the opposition TDP. He said he would stay with the YSR Congress and contest the election.

Venkatrao also said that he would soon meet the chief minister and give his mind. He said he would insist upon his candidature for Gannavaram seat when he meets the chief minister.

To a question whether he would contest as independent, if the YSR Congress denied ticket, Venkatrao said that he would be the candidate for the Gannavaram assembly constituency either from the YSR Congress or as independent.

War of words intensified in Gannavaram

1

The Gannavaram Assembly constituency in Krishna district is turning into a battle field with the ruling party leaders criticising each other openly. The battle is now between MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan who defected from the TDP to the ruling party and Yarlagadda Venkatrao, who lost the 2019 election.

The two leaders have been making strong allegations and hard-hitting statements against each other for the past sometime. They were the rivals in the 2019 elections with Vamsi contesting on TDP and Venkatrao contesting on YSR Congress. Venkatrao lost the seat to Vamsi by a margin of just 990 votes.

However, after Jagan Mohan Reddy formed the government, Vamsi defected to the ruling party from the TDP. Though Venkatrao raised objections, the chief minister subsided the objections and made Vamsi as the in charge of the party in the constituency.

The chief minister appointed Venkatrao as the chairman of Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank, setting aside the differences. However, with the state getting into the election mood the leaders have reopened their rivalry making open criticism of each other.

Meanwhile, there are strong rumours in the state that Venkatrao is making his moves to get into the TDP before the elections. It is also clear that Vamsi would be the sure candidate of the YSR Congress and Venkatrao has no chances. These rumours are believed to have made Venkatrao to open the rivalry with Vamsi and get into news.

It is to be seen whether Jagan Mohan Reddy would resolve the rivalry between Vamsi and Venkatrao or Venkatrao would quit the YSR Congress and join the TDP to be its candidate in the 2024 elections.

Will Jagan suspend Yarlagadda Venkatrao?

1

YSR Congress chief and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had suspended former minister Kothapalli Subbarayudu last week for announcing that he would contest the next election from Narasapur Assembly constituency.

Subbarayudu has been making open statements against sitting MLA Mudunuri Prasada Raju and announced his candidature for the next election without clearance or assurance from the party leadership. Jagan Mohan Reddy reacted sharply to this announcement and suspended Subbarayudu from the party.

Now, a similar announcement had come from party leader Yarlagadda Venkatrao from Gannavaram in Krishna district. He said he would contest the next election though sitting MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi continues in the party.

Vamsi was elected on TDP but defected to the ruling party two years ago. He was made the YSR Congress Gannavaram constituency in-charge by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Before making him in-charge, Jagan had appointed Venkatrao as the chairman of the Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank.

While there is a sitting MLA with the party, though not elected from the party, Venkatrao’s announcement of his candidature for the next election is same as that of Subbarayudu. It is now to be seen whether Jagan Mohan Reddy would also suspend Venkatrao or excuse him.

It is also a big issue in Gannavaram as the leaders are speaking against the sitting legislator and thus confusing the party cadre, ahead of the 2024 general elections.
