Telangana BJP to sever its ties with TDP, moves towards TRS

The BJP has finally said to be decided to sever its ties with TDP in Telangana and move towards the ruling TRS, so that to increase it numerical strength in Assembly and Lok Sabha. This seems to be the essence of deliberations at its two-day state Executive Committee meetings held in Bhadrachalam.

Now, party leaders realised that their association with TDP reached the `point of no return’ in the state, as the latter is moving towards reaching tactical understanding with Congress so that to give a `united fight’ to TRS in 2019 polls. Despite their alliance continuing in Andhra Pradesh and also at the Centre, BJP leaders felt TDP is losing its relevance in the newly formed state.

TDP leaders are openly admitting that they can no longer sail with BJP mostly due its recent “hobnobbing with the ruling party in the state.” BJP leaders too felt that sailing along with the TDP would not give BJP any advantage as the yellow party’s base is gradually eroding in the state.

In recently held state assembly winter session too both Congress and TDP were seen together in attacking the government on several issues, but BJP turned to be adopting philosophical and advisory role. Though the BJP leadership is now unhappy with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s move for 12 per cent Muslim reservation, they are aware that on their own they can’t win even a single seat in the state.

According to sources, the party has formulated a strategy so that they should continue to undertake agitations on their own against the TRS government in order to strengthen their party’s base in the state. BJP leaders felt that this would increase their bargaining power with TRS by the time of polls.
