Although TRS has said that it would field candidates for all divisions in GHMC, the minority leaders of the party are a worried lot and the pink party has never sought to allay their apprehensions about the possible secret deal with MIM.
They are worried because the secret deal would govern the TRS candidate selection for the divisions in the Old City.
The minority leaders say as part of the understanding with MIM, the TRS may field weak candidates in a friendly contest against the MIM. Many Muslim youth, who could not find space in MIM, joined the T-movement with the hope that someday they would be fielded in GHMC elections by the TRS leadership. Now, the undeclared alliance is spoiling the chances of TRS Muslim leaders, who ensured the TRS flag fly high in the Old City. Because, TRS is ready to forego them in lieu of the friendship with MIM.
” In many divisions, MIM is sure to influence the TRS leadership in distributing the tickets and suggest weaklings so that the win of the MIM candidate would be a cake walk,” a Old City aspirant expressed his apprehension before telugu360.com.
Many aspirants are trying to interpret the statement of chief minister Chandrasekhar made some time back in different ways to understand the TRS-MIM politics.
While addressing the party meeting Chief Minister KCR asked the party leader to leave the matter to him and he would ensure the victory for the TRS in GHMC polls. This is being seen as a clue to the shape of the thing to come.
” Stop asking questions. I have got the party prospects surveyed in Hyderabad City. Party tickets would go to those candidates, who has worked for the party and earned goodwill,” KCR said in the meeting.
This is exactly real source of worry for TRS old city leaders. Because the so called survey can be used to eliminated long-time aspirants and field the candidates of his choice or MIM’s choice.
According to some Muslim leaders who owe allegiance to the TRS, the understanding between the TRS and MIM is that while TRS ensures that there is no tough fight from TRS for MIM in Old City and in return MIM would ask the Muslim in other parts of the city to vote for TRS. Some Muslim leaders suspect that the delimitation of wards in Old City has also been done keeping in view the interests of MIM. Some even went to the extent of saying that the TRS candidate list for Old City would be vetted by MIM.
