The Opposition YSR Congress today demanded an all party meeting on the just announced retail trade policy. The policy was released yesterday in partnership summit held at Vizag by chief minister Naidu who said it was aimed at attracting Rs 20,000 crore investment.

Reacting on the Retail Trade Policy of the government, the YSR Congress said the decision affecting the lives of the people should not be left to be taken unilaterally by the government alone.

‘TDP abstained from voting in Parliament when the FDI in retail sector Bill was tabled and now its policy is clearly slanted towards inviting private players in the retail segment. Such important decisions are being taken unilaterally,’ party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said.

Though the Centre has given the option of rejecting the FDI in retail sector, Chandrababu Naidu would be in the forefront, when it comes to inviting foreign capital at the cost of local retailers and we oppose the policy tooth and nail, she said.

‘We demand the State to convene an All Party Meeting on the retail trade policy of the State,’ she said. The opposition party expressed shock at APSRTC vying with private bus operators in collecting huge fare during festival season.

Notwithstanding the fact that Chandrababu Naidu hiked the bus fares abnormally, the RTC is collecting floating rates and is competing with private operators to cash on the heavy festival rush, Padma said.
She said the YSR Congress opposes the anti-people move of the RTC and demands to stop exploiting the festival occasions.
