Union Home Ministry has issued orders cancelling the citizenship of Vemulawada TRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh. Centre has sent a letter in this regard to the legislator. Ramesh will most likely challenge this decision.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court on August28 directed the Centre to investigate into the dual-citizenship of Ramesh following a petition filed by Congress leader Adi Srinivas who contested against him in 2014 assembly elections. The court gave six weeks for the home ministry to probe into the matter.
Ramesh who is the son of veteran communist leader Ch Rajeshwar Rao, reportedly possessed citizenship of Germany. Following Supreme Court’s instructions, Centre conducted an inquiry on Tuesday and the final decision was disclosed.
