At a time demonetisation fever gripped the country, even cricketers could not control to make comments on the currency ban. Indian cricket test captain Virat kohli too hailed Narendra Modi for the decision to demonitise the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. He said that the move is the greatest in the country’s political history.

He was interacting with the media persons ahead of the second test with England. Stating that he could not believe it, Kohli said that he is impressed with the present initiative by the government.

“I was suppose to pay my hotel bill in Rajkot and I was taking out the old money. I forgot that the notes are not for any use. I could have actually signed on it and given it to people. It is that useless now,” he smiled and all the scribes too broke into laughter. “For me it is the greatest move in the Indian politics,” said Kohli.

After draw in the first test match at Rajkot, host India and the visitors England are looking for a crucial win in the second test which will start from Thursday at Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA cricket stadium.

Opener KL Rahul has made a comeback after hamstring injury and will play the second test.
