YSR Congress has decided to field candidates in all the 150 divisions in the ensuing GHMC polls. The party is hopeful that the tangible works done by YS Rajasekhar Reddy for the development of Hyderabad, when he was chief minister, will yield good results for the Party.

Also, the party has decided to rope in Sharmila, daughter of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, to campaign extensively in GHMC polls. And of course, party president Jaganmohan Reddy will also address number of public meetings in the city. Even though both Sharmila and Jagan had toured widely areas in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the name of Odarpu, Hyderabad is the only city the have not touched yet. By showcasing the contribution of YS Rajasekhar Reddi, which is evident everywhere in the city, the party expects to gain in the GHMC polls.

Party sources said, the party wants to highlight the subject of Muslim reservations as well in the GHMC polls.
” No party in India is able to implement the reservation to Muslim. It was YSR’s determination to help poorer Muslims, quota for Muslims was made possible. Even though it was struck down by the courts, in the brief period the quota system was in force, it benefited thousands of youth among the community,” party sources said. Even though TRS promised 12 per cent quota in 2014, the ruling party backed out on the promise.

‘We have decided to contest in all the 150 divisions in the upcoming GHMC elections and we will emerge as a force in the Corporation elections,’ Telangana Party General Secretary K Shiva Kumar said on Saturday.

It was YSR who had completed the Shamshabad international airport in a record time, and created other infrastructure facilities like the Outer Ring Road, PV Narasimha Rao Express Highway and had developed the Greater Hyderabad and his work is there to be seen everywhere, he said. “Others have only claims but YSR work is visible and it was he who started the Metro Rail project which did not take shape even now after his death,” Shiva Kumar added.
