Former member of parliament and lady superstar Vijayashanthi has been politically inactive for last 4 years. She was not seen even during Rahul Gandhi Telangana visit. Congress party high command has been keen on roping her for campaigning of 2019 elections but it seems she is expecting assurance on Rajya Sabha seat for her from the party, if reports are to be believed.
Vijayashanthi floated a party of her own during Telangana movement but later merged it with TRS and got MP ticket from TRS. She became Medak MP from TRS but before 2014 elections she left the party after the party supremo denied to accommodate all her aspirations. She joined Congress and contested elections in 2014 but lost.
Now as per grapevine, she doesn’t want to contest in 2019 elections but only wants to campaign for the party. But the condition is, she will campaign only if the party high command gives assurance of Rajya Sabha ticket for her. Congress High Command who is keen on roping star campaigners for 2019 elections is yet to respond on this.
