At a recent press meet, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reflected on his previous tenure and development work in Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that KCR and Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was responsible for developing Hyderabad and criticized Chandrababu Naidu for leaving the IT industry at ₹5,600 crore, while now it has grown to ₹2 lakh crore. Ironically, Jagan conveniently ignored the strong groundwork laid by Naidu that enabled this growth.
Jagan proudly spoke about projects under his former government, like Bhogapuram Airport, Srikakulam government port, and several medical colleges. He emphasized that land acquisition and 30 percent of construction were completed during his tenure. Yet, the reality is that the current TDP-led government has taken these projects forward, completing approvals, construction, and investments with proper planning and speed.
The most striking example was the Google Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. YSRCP dismissed this project as impractical, citing a lack of power, water, and infrastructure in Vizag. Now, Jagan presents it as a success of his administration, conveniently rewriting history to claim credit.
From criticising past governments to claiming credit for projects his own administration struggled to execute fully, Jagan has made political convenience an art form. Meanwhile, the current TDP government is steadily building on existing foundations and ensuring real progress for Andhra Pradesh.
