Former BJP Rajya Sabha Member Tarun Vijay passed a racist remark at South Indians in an attempt to defend the argument that Indian’s are not racist.

Vijay said “If we were racist, why would we have the entire South? Which is you know, completely Tamil, you know Kerala, you know Karnataka and Andhra. Why do we live with them [if we are racist]? We have blacks, black people around us.”

To defend India against the charge of racism after the recent attacks on two Nigerian students, the head of India-Africa parliamentary friendship group Vijay opened up by saying Indians worship black gods and referred to Lord Krishna

The Vijay made these controversial statements when he appeared as a panelist for a debate on Al Jazeera’s show, The Stream, on whether African students can feel safe in India.

Parliamentary Standing Committee member who said “We have blacks…black people around us” took to twitter to defend his remarks.

He even apologized by saying “Mywords perhaps were not enough to convey this.Feel bad, really feel sorry, my apologies to those who feel I said different than what I meant”

Nevertheless, the BJP leader kept defending himself on twitter and tweeted “And, I never , never, even in a slip, termed south India as black. have patience to watch the show before reacting angrily.”

However his work says that he is a familiar face in Tamil Nadu who campaigned in North India about Tamil language and culture. The damage has been done and the former RSS editor is facing sever backlash for his comments.
