BRS working president KT Rama Rao gave an open warning to IAS and IPS officers in Telangana, saying some officers have been behaving like Congress leaders. Expressing confidence that, BRS will come back to power in two and half years from now, he vowed to settle scores with IAS and IPS officers, who are going overboard, in supporting CM Revanth Reddy Sarkar.
“We are noting down names of officers who are acting subservient to CM Revanth Reddy. We will settle Hisab Kitab of IAS and IPS officers, after coming back to power,” warned firebrand KTR in filmy style, addressing BRS workers at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday.
While KT Rama Rao’s statement has hit headlines, it also highlights the double standards of our politicians. It is laughable that this statement came from KTR, whose party and Government were known for running Telangana state as their fiefdom, and treating IAS and IPS officers as their party workers.
The memory of then IAS officer and now BRS leader Venkatrama Reddy touching the feet of then CM KCR, while serving as Siddipet Collector, is still fresh in people’s minds.
There have been several instances during BRS rule, when IAS and IPS officers close to Kalvakuntla family, were given special treatment and privileges, while shunting out those, who did not obey the illegal and immoral orders of BRS top leadership.
Former IAS officers like Akunuri Murali have openly criticised the overt favoritism shown by BRS Govt towards officers like Smita Sabharwal.
What’s atrocious is, while KCR conducted elaborate farewell meetings for officers close to him on their retirement, did not care to share even a courteous message, for those he disliked.
Many-a-time several sincere IAS and IPS officers have expressed disappointment over BRS bosses’ conduct with officers in private conversations. But as KCR was extremely powerful, no one dared to question or express their disappointment openly. But as power changed hands, even the fate of IAS and IPS officers has changed now.
KTR might be grudging behavior of some IAS and IPS officers and dreaming to teach them a lesson. But he has to wait for atleast three years and get back to power to settle scores. But for now, IAS and IPS officers, who felt mistreated during BRS rule, are settling KTR and team’s Hisab Kitab.
