National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) is sending a team to look into the charges of victims of the Call Money next week. The NHRC has also slapped notices on state government and Police DGP to send a report on the Call Money racket. NHRC took these steps following a complaint lodged by APCC chief N Raghuvira Reddy today.

Accompanied party Rajya Sabha members and union ministers Jayram Ramesh, J D Seelam, senior MPs T Subbarami Reddy and KVP Ramachandra Rao today Raghuvira met secretary of NHRC to lodge the complaint. He also brought to the notice of the NHRC the news about Vijayawada Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang going on leave for ten days. Raghuvira said the call money racketeers had operated from a place which was closer to the office of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chadrababu Naidu in Vijayawada. He said many TDP MLAs, MLCs and Minister also had involved in the racket which is closely linked to the sexual harassment of the women, who took loans from these money lenders.

Talking to media later, in New Delhi, Raghuvira alleged that CM Naidu was solely to be blamed for the operation of call money ring in Vijayawada and he should be held as A-1 in the case. “It was Telugu Desam government’s failure to come to the rescue of small time entrepreneurs among women that forced these women to approach the private money lenders, who levied exorbitant rates of interest. When failed to repay these interests, they exploited the women sexually. Hundreds of women silently bore the predicament. some lost entire property,” he said. He sought NHRC intervention into whole issue, to protect the women from these money lender, backed by ruling party politicians.
