OTT platforms are witnessing massive traffic in India and the number of platforms too reached a remarkable number. Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar, Zee5 and others are delivering desi content after the viewership across the country got increased hugely. At the CII Big Picture Summit 2019 recently, the Secretary of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Amit Khare revealed that the Indian government is not interested to censor the web content that is available on OTT platforms.

This is sure a huge relief for the OTT platforms who had no barriers and limitations. The audience too will enjoy their shows without voice mutes and visual cuts like they have been enjoying now. Amit said that the government is well aware of the OTT model and they believe that this is entirely different from the tv audience. Hence, they are not in a mood to restrict OTT content. Several cases have been filed against some of the shows which are under investigation.
