Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy appeared before the Special Court for Public Representatives at Nampally on Saturday in connection with multiple criminal cases registered against him during the previous BRS government’s tenure.
The cases date back to the period when Revanth Reddy was serving as the state Congress president. They relate to incidents registered at Osmania University, Tirumalagiri police station, and Mattampally police station. One of the cases, registered in 2016, pertains to allegations that he organised a public meeting under the banner of Nirudyogula Jana Jagarana at Osmania University without obtaining the required permissions. The other two cases involve alleged violations linked to attending and conducting public meetings.
During the hearing, the Chief Minister was examined by the court under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure. He denied all allegations and maintained that the cases were politically motivated. Revanth Reddy told the court that the complaints were filed under pressure from the previous BRS regime and had no factual basis.
After completing the hearing in all three cases, the Special Court for Public Representatives adjourned the matter to February 4. The court is expected to take up further arguments or pronounce its orders on the next date.
The appearance of the sitting Chief Minister has once again brought focus to cases filed against opposition leaders during the previous government, with Revanth Reddy reiterating that he will pursue legal remedies to clear his name.
