Top director Shankar has been struggling to deliver a decent hit. The debacles of Indian 2 and Game Changer brought huge criticism for his work. Shankar is yet to complete the pending portions of Indian 3 and there are a lot of speculations going on. Lyca Productions made it clear that they are not ready to assign more budget for Indian 3 and the shoot came to a halt after the debacle of Indian 2. Tamil media has been speculating that Shankar is working on the script of his dream project Velpaari.

The biggest question is all about the producer who will back the film. As per the latest update, Bollywood production house Pen Studios has come on board to bankroll the project. Pen Studios and Shankar earlier inked a deal for the remake of Anniyan with Ranveer Singh but the project got shelved. Now, Pen Studios agreed to produce Shankar’s dream project Velpaari. An official announcement will be made soon and the shoot commences later this year. There is no clarity about the Indian 3 shoot and the release date for now as Shankar is focused on Velpaari.
