Ambati says Naidu fears of losing Kuppam

AP Minister for Irrigation, Ambati Rambabu, on Friday said that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was scared of losing the Kuppam Assembly seat in the next elections. He said that the fear is clearly visible on Naidu’s face while he was addressing the party workers at Kuppam in the last three days.

The Minister said that Chandrababu Naidu had been winning the Kuppam constituency for the past seven elections. However, he said that Naidu had never visited the constituency even to file the nomination papers or to receive victory certificates from the election commission.

However, in the last three years, Chandrababu Naidu, wife Bhuvaneswari and son Lokesh have been visiting Kuppam on a regular basis, the Minister said and added that Naidu was constructing a house in Kuppam town for the first time.

Rambabu said that the TDP had lost the panchayat, zilla parishad and municipal elections held last year, despite Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh campaigning extensively. Having lost every election, the TDP chief was now worried about losing the next election, he said.

The fear was seen on the face as Chandrababu Naidu made objectionable and provocative statements and encouraged his party activists to destroy the YSR Congress banners and hoardings. He wondered why the TDP chief provoked his party workers to attack the YSR Congress flags and hoardings, if not to create violence.

The Minister said that as local MLA, Chandrababu Naidu was welcome to visit his constituency, meet the people, besides holding meetings with his own party leaders and cadre. However, he said that Naidu had made provocative statements only to create tension and law and order problems during his visit and thus get sympathy.

Rambabu said that people of Kuppam are wise enough to know the political games of Chandrababu Naidu and would judge who is right and who is wrong. He also said that people would be able to judge what Chandrababu Naidu had done to the constituency since 1989 and what Jagan Mohan Reddy had done to them in the last three years.

AP Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu said a section of the media in the state was spreading false information only to help Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu. He said that a section of the media was working in favour of the TDP and was spreading blatant lies.

The Minister said the reports that 250 lift irrigation schemes were not working due to lack of maintenance and lack of funds were not true. He said there are 1032 lift irrigation schemes in the state and the responsibility of their maintenance was given to the societies formed with the farmers of those ayacuts and some of the schemes were not functioning properly due to lack of leadership in these societies and slammed a vernacular publication for holding the present government responsible for it.

The Minister said the report has stated that the Donekallu lift irrigation scheme was started in 1989 and closed in the same year. He wondered how Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy could be responsible for the closure. The Minister strongly condemned the allegations that Ontimitta- Srirama Lift irrigation scheme has been of no use and said it is completely false and explained that water will be pumped from Somasila Project into pond and water will be released for drinking and irrigation purposes from there through gravity and the motors would have been stopped as the pond is full.

The Minister said the state government has been committed to the welfare of the farmers and thus planning to give water for three crops by releasing them early. He said TDP leaders Naidu and Devineni Uma were responsible for damage of the diaphragm wall and the state government is in discussions with CWC and there will be a conclusion to this problem in two to three months.

AP Minister Ambati Rambabu is known for fitting replies. He comes up with fitting replies when it comes to taking on the critics of Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress.

The Minister reacted sharply to the call given by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu the other day in Visakhapatnam. Naidu called upon the people to “Quit Jagan … Save AP”.

Reacting to the TDP chief’s call, Ambati Rambabu said that people have already said “Get out Chandrababu and shut up Chandrababu in the 2019 elections.”

Even after the 2019 Assembly elections, people have been saying the same slogan of get out Chandrababu and shut up Chandrababu in every subsequent election.

The TDP had faced humiliating defeat in the Assembly election and the local body elections as well, which means that people have asked Naidu to get out of AP.

He criticised the TDP chief for ruining the state in the last five years with focus only on the real estate project of Amaravati.

Even at Polavaram, he said that Chandrababu Naidu made money but did not construct the project, the minister said.

He asserted that people have realised what sort of administrator Chandrababu Naidu is and have rejected him.

The Minister further claimed that people would not vote for the TDP even in the next election, despite the party launching misleading campaigns through the media.

All eyes on Ambati, Alla as Jagan gets ready for cabinet revamp

As chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is almost done with the exercise to revamp his cabinet, all eyes on Ambati Rambabu and Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. The two leaders, among others, have been loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy from the day one of his launching the party.

Ambati Rambabu has been the voice of the YSR Congress and represents the dominant Kapu community. He was one of the first spokespersons of the party in its initial days. He played a crucial role when the party contested the by-elections in 2012, where it had won 15 Assembly constituencies out of 18, besides the Nellore Lok Sabha constituency.

He was expected to be the member of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s first cabinet in 2019, but could not make it due to the combinations. This time, a good number of the YSR Congress leaders predict that Ambati Rambabu would make it to the cabinet. However, the decision is in the hands of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Likewise, the candidature of Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy is also doing rounds in the Tadepalli circles as one of the new faces to enter into the cabinet. He has been loyal to Jagan for several years and he is considered the giant killer by defeating TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh at Mangalagiri in 2019 elections.

A trusted lieutenant to Jagan, the Mangalagiri MLA was expected to be the minister in the first cabinet holding the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA). But he could not make it to the cabinet in 2019. Later, it was widely said that Alla would be the chairman of the APCRDA, as he comes from the Amaravati area and knows everything about the capital issue. For reasons best known to Jagan himself, the Mangalagiri MLA could not make it even to the CRDA chairman post.

This time, it is said that Alla Ramakrishna Reddy will certainly make it to the cabinet as Jagan is in favour of increasing the representation for the Reddy community. His followers too are confident of seeing their leader in the cabinet. However, it is to be seen what Jagan has in his mind for his good friend, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy.

The ruling YCP leaders are still in local bodies election mood. They are more eager to take every available advantage to win 90 per cent local bodies once elections are held after COVID-19 subsides. Amid this, the YCP leaders are continuing their unsparing attacks on political rivals without any discrimination. They never spare TDP but now they are not leaving even Jana Sena despite the fact that Pawan Kalyan has become friends with the BJP. However, YCP Ministers and MLAs even now observe lot of caution not to criticise BJP leaders given its political repercussions from Modi-Shah.

Now, while the whole world is fighting Coronavirus outbreak, YCP MLA Ambati Rambabu is taking his criticism of rivals to a new level. He is obviously disturbed at Naga Babu’s attack. Interestingly, Ambati appealed to Pawan Kalyan to control his brother. Not stopping at that, Ambati went on to use unprintable language to mock Naga Babu’s defeat in Narsipatnam (Narsapur MP seat).

Naga Babu hit back with greater sarcasm. He told Ambati not to continue his party politics in this time of grave danger from COVID-19. Naga Babu warned that if Ambati continues his gimmicks, he would suffer far greater humiliation than what he is causing to others now.
