Centre shocks AP, TS with ‘midnight gazette’ over Krishna water row!

1

The Narendra Modi government at the Centre shocked Andhra Pradesh and Telangana government by issuing a ‘midnight gazette notification’ taking control of all the irrigation projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers.

The union jal shakti ministry issued a gazette notification after 12 midnight on Thursday.

The notification will come into effect from October 14.

AP and TS are engaged in a bitter war over sharing of Krishna water for the last 20 days. The TS is taking up hydel power generation at Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, Pulichintala projects which AP is strongly opposing.

Both the States lodged complaints against each other with the Centre.

AP CM YS Jagan wrote letters to PM Modi twice against TS.

Against this backdrop, the Centre issued notification taking control of all the projects.

While the water row was on Krishna river, the Centre took control of all projects on Krishna and Godavari. The Centre will deploy CRPF forces on these projects.

The Centre brought all Krishna projects under the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and Godavari projects under Godavari River Management Board (GRMB).

Now AP and TS governments have to seek permission of Centre and these boards to construct any new projects or generate hydel power.

For ongoing projects on these rivers without any approvals, both the state governments have to seek approvals within six months from the Centre by submitting all documents. If Centre rejects approvals for these ongoing projects, the States have to scrap these projects.

The AP government took up Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme on Krishna without any approvals while TS government took up several projects such as Palamur Rangareddy, Dindi etc without any approvals. Now the fate of these projects lie in the hands of Centre.

Three MPs asked to respond on pleas for disqualification

0

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has sought response from Trinamool Congress MPs Sisir Adhikari and Sunil Kumar Mondal, and YSR Congress MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju on their party’s petitions seeking their disqualification under the anti-defection law.

Sources said that the Lok Sabha Secretariat has written to Adhikari, Mondal and Raju, seeking their response within 15 days of receipt of its letter.

The Trinamool had filed a petition seeking disqualification of Adhikari and Mondal, saying both the MPs have joined the BJP before the West Bengal Assembly polls.

Sources claimed that Adhikari had joined the BJP in March while Mondal has joined the saffron party in December last year.

The YSR Congress submitted a petition saying that Raju is involved in anti-party activities.

Centre gives Rs 2,155cr to TS, 1,543cr to AP towards GST compensation

0

In a relief to cash-starved State governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Centre on Thursday released Rs 2,155.25 crore to Telangana and Rs 1,543.43 crore to Andhra Pradesh to compensate them for the shortfall in GST revenue.

This is part of the total Rs 75,000 crore released by the Centre to the States and Union Territories on Thursday.

The GST Council in its meeting on May 28 had decided that the central government would borrow Rs 1.59 lakh crore and release it to the
states and UTs on a back-to-back basis to meet the resource gap due to the short release of compensation on account of inadequate amount in
the compensation fund.

The Chief Ministers and finance ministers of Telugu States have been repeatedly requesting the Centre to release GST compensation immediately as they are facing severe fund crunch due to Covid-induced financial crisis since March 2020.

This release is in addition to normal GST compensation being released every 2 months out of actual cess collection,” the union finance
ministry said in a statement.

It further said that all eligible states and UTs have agreed to the arrangements for the funding of the compensation shortfall under the
back-to-back loan facility.

“For effective response and management of COVID-19 pandemic and a step-up in capital expenditure, all States and UTs have a very
important role to play. For assisting the States/UTs in their endeavour, Ministry of Finance has front-loaded the release of
assistance under the back-to-back loan facility during FY 2021-22 Rs 75,000 crore (almost 50 per cent of the total shortfall for the entire
year) released today in a single instalment,” the ministry added. The balance amount will be released in the second half of 2021-22 in
steady instalments.

Andhra allots 860 acres to Jindal Steel for Rs 7,500 cr plant

1

The Andhra Pradesh state investment promotion board (SIPB) on Thursday allotted 860 acres of land to Jindal Steel Andhra Limited in Nellore district to set up a 2.25 MT per annum steel plant.

“After detailed discussions, the Board had decide to allot 860 acres of land to Jindal Steel Andhra Limited at Thamminapatnam, Momidi Village, Chillakur mandal, SPSR Nellore district as per the rates fixed by the APIIC,” said special chief secretary R. Karikal Valaven.

The company with considerable expertise in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors and with total annual steel production of 11.6 MT requested for 1,000 to 3,000 acres of land but got 860 acres.

“The vice chairman and managing director, APIIC, Mangalagiri shall take necessary action accordingly and intimate the status of the progress of work done by the unit from time to time to the government,” added Valaven.

Income limit raised by Rs 2 lakh for OBC non-creamy layer in AP

1

The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday raised the income limit for non-creamy layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in reservations from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.

“It is reiterated that for issuance of OBC certificates to the non-creamy layer persons and sections among the OBCs, the income limit has been enhanced from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per annum,” said special chief secretary G. Anantha Ramu.

Ramu directed all the district collectors and competent authorities to issue OBC certificates in the state following the new guidelines.

“Therefore, all the district collectors and authorities competent to issue OBC certificates in the state are required to note the same and take action accordingly,” the special chief secretary added.

Meanwhile, the AP government has started implementing 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections (EWS) from Thursday for admission to educational institution and appointments.

Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu on Thursday lashed out at a Telugu daily for creating confusion on the eligibility criteria for EWS reservation and clarified that annual income of applicants should not exceed Rs 8 lakh.

Telangana’s moll in AP leaks critical irrigation info

0

One thing that kept Andhra Pradesh Government perturbed on the Krishna water dispute was how Telangana had the advance information of all the moves of AP. Whatever the AP irrigation department was planning on the Krishna dispute was already known to the Telangana government and the latter was always found to be one step ahead.

At the same time the AP could not get any information about Telangana government’s plans and preparations. The Telangana was checkmating AP at every step on the Krishna river water. All the letters and the contents of the AP government’s communications to the Centre are reportedly being known to Telangana irrigation officials even before they were dispatched.

Internal investigations reportedly showed that one of the top irrigation officials was leaking information to his counterpart in Telangana out of old friendship. The information was gleefully taken by the Telangana officials, who used to their full advantage. Sources said the government has come to know about this and is reported to have taken a serious view of it. It is planning to initiate action against the said official.

Both the Telugu states are embroiled in a dispute over the sharing of Krishna river water. While Telangana is objecting to the construction of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project near Srisailm, the AP Government has questioned the Telangana government over taking up Alampur project and six other projects on Krishna river upstream of Srisailam project. AP also objected to the power generation from Nagarjunasagar project against the agreed norms. Both have now approached the Krishna River Management Board.

Who is behind pro-Junior NTR slogans ?

0

Who is behind the sprouting up of Junior NTR flags and Junior NTR slogans in TDP rallies? The way the slogans are being chanted in an organized manner and the way the flexis, flags and banners are coming up strategically shows there is a deep planning in all these. The aim seems to be to embarrass the TDP boss.

Initially, it was Kuppam. There were flags everywhere of NTR Junior in Kuppam when Chandrababu visited his home turf. There were even slogans asking him to bring back NTR. Chandrababu was nonplussed by this sudden turn of events. Later, on Junior NTR’s birthday, there were posters everywhere in Kuppam. Chandrababu asked his close confidants to prepare a report on who is behind all this. One does not know whether a report was published and if published, what its contents are.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, similar posters and flexis appeared in Machilipatnam also. There were slogans too demanding the return of NTR. Interestingly, NTR himself is now focused more than ever before on his career. He is busy with films and on more than one occasion, he has categorically said that there was no question of joining politics at this stage. Yet, these posters are springing up periodically.

The TDP feels this is the handiwork of the people, who were once with the TDP and have now shifted to the YSRCP. Such people are pulling strings and are whipping up this sentiment. In Kuppam, some of the trusted party workers are now in the opposite camp. They could be behind this, the party insiders feel. This is nothing but questioning the leadership of Chandrababu and his son Lokesh Babu. They feel these people are inciting gullible party sympathizers to raise these slogans. The party is now seriously planning to go to the roots of this.

Jagan sets targets for fisheries, animal husbandry products

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday set production targets for the Fisheries Department and asked it to make the products available at affordable prices to consumers, while also ensuring fair prices for aqua farmers.

Reddy, at a review meeting at his camp office, noted that aqua hubs are being set up in the state to achieve the targets, which are aimed at benefiting both customers and aqua farmers.

“Give publicity and create awareness on integrated aqua labs and quality checks related to the aqua sector,” he said.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the quantity of aqua products usage is 4.3 lakh MT per year and a target of raising it to 12 MT per year has been set.

The state government has already launched 14 labs out of the planned 35, while the remaining 21 are slated to be launched in November.

The Chief Minister called for linking aqua labs with the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) and ordered that there should be no scope for adulteration in aqua seed and feed.

“Focus on cage fish culture and mariculture for more income and prepare an action plan to make farmers and enthusiasts move forward in this regard,” he noted.

He also directed officials to focus on setting up an Aqua University in the state and expedite the required land acquisition for it.

He instructed officials to hold discussion with the Central government for providing insurance to the aqua sector.

Reviewing animal husbandry, the Chief Minister called for rationality on the type of veterinary dispensaries present in the village, mandal, and constituency level.

“Each mandal should be considered as a unit and required dispensaries should be set up. Mandals without dispensaries should be mapped,” he said.

He also called for ensuring the availability of animal feed and other related products at kiosks in RBKs.

Reddy also called for preparing an action plan to implement the ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme in veterinary hospitals, determining the infrastructural facilities required to develop those hospitals and beginning the work.

Denied legitimate share of water, Andhra moves SC against Telangana

0

The Andhra Pradesh government has moved Supreme Court alleging that Telangana government has deprived it of its legitimate share of water for drinking and irrigation purposes and termed it “unconstitutional and illegal”.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government submitted that KCR’s TRS government is refusing to follow decisions taken in the apex council constituted under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014, directions of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) constituted under this Act and directions of the Centre.

The plea cited that under Section 87 (1) the board can exercise jurisdiction only in respect of such aspects as are notified by the Centre, but no such notification has been issued so far.

The plea argued that in view of no progress on notification of the jurisdiction of KRMB, Telangana by its acts of commission is seriously affecting the water supply to Andhra Pradesh for irrigation and other purposes.

The plea contended that in Srisailam Dam project, the reservoir’s quantity has seriously depleted on account of use of water therefrom for generation of power in Telangana, which has been established by “daily readings” submitted by dam authorities.

The Andhra Pradesh government said this has caused immense hardship for its people, as availability of water has been seriously prejudiced by depletion in Srisailam Dam project as well as other projects such as the Nagarjuna Sagar Project and the Pulichintala Project.

“More significantly, State of Telangana is clearly in violation of a binding Award, popularly known as “Bachwat Award” made on 31.05.1976 and express provisions of the 2014 Act, whereby State of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,” the petition filed through advocate Mahfooz A Nazki.

The Jagan Reddy led YSR Congress government argued that actions of the Telangana government are unconstitutional and in violation of right to life its people.

The Andhra Pradesh urged the top court for direction to the Centre to take control of the common reservoirs of Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and also Pulichintala reservoir along with all their outlets and operate the same as per the operating rules in vogue as per the binding award.

And if necessary, with the help of police protection operate both the common reservoirs of Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and also Pulichintala reservoir without causing prejudice to Andhra Pradesh.

Job recruitment calendar: Jagan failed, will KCR succeed?

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy made a statement from the dais that was set up for his swearing-in-ceremony as CM on May 30, 2019 that his government will release annual job recruitment calendar every year to fill vacancies in government departments every year.

However, Jagan failed to deliver on his promise till recently.

It took more than than two years for Jagan to release first annual job recruitment calendar.

Recently on June 28, Jagan released the annual job calendar but it faced the wrath of unemployed youth and government job seekers in Telangana as the calendar notified just 10,143 vacancies to be filled in the next nine months until March 2022.

While the vacancies in government departments in AP are in lakhs somewhere around over 2 lakh or so, Jagan notified just 10,143 vacancies that too after two years triggering anger among from student unions and opposition parties.

Now, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday announced to release annual recruitment calendar in the cabinet meeting.

The TRS government failed to fill even 40,000 posts through TSPSC during the past seven years. Worse still is, not a single recruitment notification was released by any recruitment agency in Telangana for the last three years since 2018.

But TRS government derived political mileage in all the elections held since then with KCR issuing statements that the government will soon fill over 50,000 vacancies in all departments whenever there were any elections in Telangana.

That ‘soon’ never came even after KCR issued ‘jobs very soon’ statements during Dubbak Assembly bypoll, GHMC elections in 2020-end, Graduate MLC polls in March 2021, Nagarjunasagar Assembly bypoll in April 2021 and municipal polls in April 2021.

As the Huzurabad Assembly bypoll nears, opposition parties and unemployed youth believe that KCR is again trying to mislead students and youth to gain political mileage under the guise of annual job calendar.

It remains to be seen whether KCR succeeds in releasing annual job calendars every year where Jagan failed.

AP violates Treasury Code, ends up as financial bottom-less pit

1

Is Andhra Pradesh walking into a debt trap with the indiscriminate spending in the name of welfare schemes? Are the faulty fiscal management practices of AP government taking the state towards ruination? These are the questions that arise naturally if anyone listened to AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath’s presser the other day.

He not only defended the indiscriminate borrowing but also said that the state would borrow further. The state has already crossed the limits imposed by the FRBM in borrowing. The Centre has allowed the state to secure loans to a tune of Rs 20750 crore from April till December 2021. However, the state has already taken Rs 20100 crore worth of loans from April till July 11, 2021. On Tuesday, the AP secured another loan of Rs 1750 crore by auctioning the government securities. This apart, the state government is also securing loans through the corporations by pledging government assets. The State Government has also informed the RBI that it would secure another Rs 5000 crore worth of loans by September this year. As a result, the total loans could go up to Rs 1 lakh crore.

The AP government has also ignored the letter of the Central Government, which clearly told the Centre that the borrowings of all kinds, including those taken in the name of off-budget borrowings, corporation, NaBARD and EAP loans, should be well within the FRBM limits. The letter also mandated that at least a half of the loans obtained should be used for capital investment. However, the State Government has blatantly ignored this letter.

Sources in the government say that as per the Treasury Code, all payments should be made by the Deputy Treasury officer or the PAO. But, in the case of AP, the payments are being made by the Special Secretary (Finance). This, experts say, is a clear violation of the treasury code.

KCR withdraws, Jagan files case in Supreme Court!

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has recently withdrawn case from the Supreme Court on Krishna water row to enable Centre to resolve the Krishna water dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh once and for all.

Now, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to file a case in the Supreme Court seeking declaration of joint irrigation projects on Krishna, namely Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar as well as hydel power stations at these projects as ‘national assets’ and Centre should take total control of these assets. Jagan wants Supreme Court to direct Centre to provide CRPF security to these projects and hydel power stations and no police force or irrigation officials from Telangana or AP should be allowed to monitor or control these projects, hydel power stations.

When Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat convened Apex Council meeting with KCR and Jagan in October 2020 to resolve Krishna river dispute, Shekhawat asked KCR to withdraw Telangana government’s case filed in the Supreme Court in 2015 to resolve this issue. KCR agreed but took eight months to withdraw the case in June this year. Shekhawat told Jagan and KCR that TS government’s pending case in Supreme Court has become a hurdle in solving Krishna water dispute by making fresh water allocations to TS and AP.

Now the situation has come back to square one with Jagan decided to file a case in the Supreme Court. The move is expected to block Centre’s attempts to resolve Krishna water dispute till Supreme Court delivers its verdict. Supreme Court could not deliver the verdict on TS government’s petition filed in 2015 till June 2021, when TS goverment withdrawn the petition. It remains to be seen how many years it will take for Supreme Court to deliver verdict on fresh petition to be filed by AP government in a day or two.

GenNext leaders fail to make a mark in TDP

Where are all the young guns? This is the question that the Telugu Desam fans, supporters and workers are asking these days. During the 2019 elections, the TDP has promoted several young leaders from the political families in the hope that they would emerge as the future of the TDP. These nextgen leaders were also expected to form a team under the leadership of Lokesh Babu.

But, most of these young guns could not win the elections and the party too went out of power. As a result, most of these young generation leaders have become inactive. Instead of working hard to rebuild the party, these leaders have busied themselves with personal works and businesses.

Take the case of Bojjala Sudheer, who is the son of TDP veteran Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy. He had contested and lost from Srikalahasti, his father’s bastion. After the defeat, he simply vanished from Srikalahasti. He has not attended the recent state-wide protest programme that Chandrababu Naidu has organized on June 29. Ditto with Gali Bhanu, who is the son of former TDP heavyweight Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu. He fought and lost against Roja in Nagari. Since then, he is inactive. Sources say, family disputes are the reason for his inactivity.

Paritala Sriram, son of Paritala Ravi, came with a lot of promise but could not win from the family borough of Penukonda. Now, the sources say that Paritala Sunitha herself has begun working to reclaim Penukonda. JC Diwakar Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy may be political heavyweights, but their sons JC Pawan Kumar Reddy and Asmit Reddy have vanished after losing elections in 2019. The less said about Bhuma Akhilapriya, whose parents Nagireddy and Shobha Nagireddy were heavyweight politicians, the better.

KE family’s KE Shyam, TG Venkatesh’s son TG Bharat have gone as fast as they came. Soon after the electoral defeat, they simply became politically inactive. Guthu Syamsunder Shivaji’s daughter Gowthu Sirisha, Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s daughter Aditi, Kimidi Mrunalini’s son Kimidi Nagarjuna, Bandaru Satyanarayana’s son B Appala Naidu, Jyotula Nehru’s son Jyotula Naveen, Kodela’s son Kodela Sivaram, Devineni Chandu, Rayapati Ranga Babu are active in politics and are holding different responsibilities. But, they are unable to make a mark.

After Krishna row, Tirupati darshan war between AP&TS

1

The Krishna water row between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana refuses to die down even after two weeks.

As this was not enough, a strange war has now erupted between AP and TS over darshan of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirupati.

Telangana political leaders accuse TTD of throwing their recommendation letters issued to pilgrims seeking VIP break darshans, accommodations etc into dustbins.

They alleged that TTD is ignoring their letters after Krishna water row between TS and AP.

They also alleged that AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has issued orders to TTD not to honour letters issued by TS leaders like minister, MLAs, MLCs, MPs etc.

However TTD on Sunday strongly denied these allegations. TTD said TS leaders are issuing recommendation letters over and above their quota and only excess letters are ignored.

TTD said it is following all the norms with regard to Telangana leaders like earlier and requested all not to drag TTD into politics unnecessarily.

Doubts surround over the continuance of YS Vijayamma as the honorary president of YSRCP.

1

Vijayamma has been continuing as YSRCP honorary president since her son YS Jaganmohan Reddy launched YSRCP in 2011.

However political differences erupted in YSR family after her daughter YS Sharmila launched her own political party YSRTP in Telangana against the wishes of her brother, AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.c

Speculations are rife in YSRCP circles that Jagan insisted on his mother YS Vijayamma not to attend Sharmila party launch on July 8 in Hyderabad.

But Vijayamna not only simply ignored but also attended the event and delivered her speech.

In her speech, she indirectly hinted at political differences between Jagan and Sharmila saying that its God’s will that both her children took contradictory routes in politics.

In this backdrop, doubts are being raised over how Jagan could continue Vijayamma as honorary president when she openly crosses party’s line of not to interfere in politics of any other state except AP.

Will Jagan lead AP to financial bankruptcy with his mindless borrowing?

0

The AP government’s financial profligacy and extensive borrowing is now the hottest topic of discussion among the financial experts in both the state as well as in New Delhi. The AP government’s indiscriminate borrowing is now being seen as a perfect recipe for financial disaster.

What is worse, the Jagan government is fudging figures and is showing the borrowings under various heads to escape the provisions of the FRBM act.

The Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act 2003 sets a target for the governments to establish financial discipline in the economy, improve the management of public funds and reduce fiscal deficit. However, the AP government is borrowing way too beyond its permitted levels. For instance, of the Rs 19100 crore borrowings of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government, Rs 4100 crore have been secured by pledging the government assets. It also has to pay Rs 3470 crore towards the pending amount of the overdrafts taken.

Due to the financial mismanagement the AP government’s permissible borrowing limit has been brought down from Rs 42000 crore to Rs 20000 crore. Of this, already the State government has taken Rs 18100 crore. So, paying of the salaries too is now a Herculean task for this government. According to conservative estimates, the AP government is borrowing at the rate of Rs 6000 crore per month.

Bent on circumventing the system, the AP government has set up several corporations and borrowing in their name heavily. For these borrowings the government is pledging its assets as counter guarantees. These borrowings are known as off-budget borrowings. These figures are not shown in the overall budget. Thus, by clever fudging of figures, the state is on a borrowing spree. These corporations have little staff but huge budgets and the loans taken are diverted to the state government. Experts say that the AP government is likely to go bankrupt if the same trend of financial mismanagement continues.

Before walking into ‘sunset,’ this politico wants ‘son’ rise

What does a fading heavyweight do in politics? Before he completely fades away, he would install his son in his position. Handing over the baton is the most important task for any politician. This is now the biggest task before one-time heavyweight and TDP AP’s former chief Kala Venkat Rao.

Kala Venkat Rao had his time under the son. He enjoyed his stint as an MLA, a minister and the party’s president for Andhra Pradesh! Now the TDP is out of power and politics for him is back to square one. His presidential post too is gone now. Massive defeat in Etcherla constituency, his borough, in 2019 elections has indicated that it was time to walk into the political sunset. Now Kala Venkat Rao has decided that it was time for ‘son’ rise.

Years of staying in Amaravati and Hyderabad have affected his connections in the constituency. He is now out of touch in his own Etcherla that he had nursed for such a long time. Also, Covid scare for the last one-and-a-half year has also kept him away from touring the constituency. During this period, the YSRCP has fortified its position and has emerged stronger in the panchayat elections. It has now become an existential question for Kala Venkat Rao and his family.

Now that he wants his son to take his baton, he has begun cultivating the voters and influencers in Etcherla again. His son Ram Mallik Naidu has now been given a key post in the party. He is now one of the secretaries of the party.

Now, Kala Venkat Rao is extensively touring the nook and cranny of the constituency and is holding meetings with the workers and office bearers. He is also said to tutoring Naidu in the nitty-gritty and nuances of politics. One only hopes Ram Mallik Naidu will pick up cues from his illustrious dad and emerge as a strong politician in Etcherla to carry on the legacy of Kala Venkat Rao.

Sedate supporter or young bully: Who will YS Jagan choose?

Will it be an experienced but sedate supporter or will it be a young but aggressive backer? Who will AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy choose? This is the most debated issue in Krishna district’s political circles these days. Ahead of a likely cabinet reshuffle, who will join Jagan’s cabinet from Krishna district is being hotly discussed.

There are three ministers from Krishna district in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s cabinet. They are Kodali Nani, Perni Nani and Vellampalli Srinivas. Incidentally, all the three are from the so-called upper castes. There is no representation from the strong BC groups in the district. This has for long been a topic of hot discussion in Krishna district’s politics.

Now that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to rejig his council of ministers very soon, there are at least two names floating in the discussions. One is former minister Parthasarathy and the other is Jogi Ramesh. While Parthasarathy has the experience of administration and governance, Jogi Ramesh is a novice in the craft. Parthasarathy is more sedate and relatively mellow among the two, while Jogi Ramesh is fire and brimstone when attacking YS Jagan’s critics. Parthasarathy’s words are more measured, while Jogi Ramesh is no-holds barred.

In fact, Jagan has immense faith in both the leaders. Both have stood by him through thick and thin. Both have suffered a lot during the erstwhile TDP regime for staying with YS Jagan. Who will Jagan choose from among them is the question. Jagan is not in a position to drop any of the current ministers as they are doing well in defending his policies. Particularly, Kodali Nani is known for his attacks on the TDP, while Vellampalli proved very useful during the attacks on temples in AP. Alla Nani too has been very useful in Jagan’s scheme of things. So, any new entry will have to be over and above the existing ministers, say sources.

Jagan lays foundation for Rs 500cr development work

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday laid the foundation for various development works worth Rs 500 crore at Badvel constituency in Kadapa district.

“Badvel is one of the most backward constituencies in the state and was deeply neglected by the previous government without any development,” said Reddy.
