Baahubali sets fresh goals for brides

    0

Bahubali-the beginning and Bahubali-the conclusion are giving new goals to brides. It is not about finding bridegrooms like Prabhas or Rana rather jewellery goals. Bahubali-1 started a new trend in the bridal ceremony. The floral jewellery worn by actress Tamanna in the song “Pacha bottesina” has been a hit with the brides. The full set consists of floral necklaces, rings, hair additions, bangles and other accessories made using fresh flowers like jasmine, rose, orchids, roses, berries etc and is being delivered by several agencies. Brides are ornamenting with the flower jewellery to get an extra edge.

While Tammana started the trend for bridal ceremony jewellery, in the latest flick Bahubali-the conclusion, Anushka set goals for wedding jewellery. From priceless necklaces to bangles, the hair accessories, antique ear rings and nose rings, each of which seemed apt for a bride who loves nothing but grand jewellery. The effortless elegance with which Anushka carried is surely setting some goals. While Avantika’s jewellery is affordable, Devasena’s will surely make the brides spend a bomb. The desirable brand Amrapalli has exclusively carved out the jewellery for the film.

‘Baahubali 2’: Hype by makers, expectations by fans touch new highs

    0

Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? An enigma that has been on the mind of every Indian since the last 21 months, will finally get unveiled on Friday with the release of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”. If trade pundits and films experts are to be believed, filmmaker S.S. Rajamoulis magnum opus will set new benchmarks in Indian cinema.

Released in July 2015, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ — the first film in the epic fantasy franchise — raked in over Rs 600 crore at the box office while leaving fans amazed with its grandiose sets, unprecedented action sequences and astounding storyline. Thus, fans across the world keenly await “Baahubali 2”, which will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam in over 6500 screens across India.

The film features Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah in the lead.

“I have sky high expectations from ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ and I believe it’s going to make records. Expectations from first film were not that big. Despite that‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ worked so well. The way it performed is the reason why expectations are so huge from the second part,” Mumbai-based distributor Rajesh Thadani told IANS.

“This film has the potential to create new benchmarks in cinema. There have been films in the past which have had big hype, but ‘Baahubali’ is an exception. It will definitely open doors for the southern industry in other regions,” Thadani added.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh said “Baahubali 2” will get a “hurricane” at the box office, which has not witnessed huge footfalls for the last few weeks now.

“The weather may be hot and humid, but the box office is ice-cold… Await ‘Baahubali 2′ to reactivate film business… Expecting a hurricane at the box office,” Adarsh tweeted last week.

In north India, Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan is expecting a “miracle” with the film.

“Advance booking for the film is doing great. There are discussions going on between exhibitors and distributors regarding the profits in north India. The hype of the film is really huge amongst the masses. It might break all the records at the box office,” Mahajan told IANS.

Ashish Saksena, COO-Cinemas, BookMyShow said that they are witnessing an “unprecedented advance booking” for “Baahubali 2”.

“We have already sold over one million tickets across languages, even when the bookings have been live for just over a day. Though the film is largely perceived to be loved by South Indian audience, the response from Hindi speaking markets has been highly encouraging as well,” Saksena told IANS.

In South, “Baahubali 2” will release in around 650 screens in Tamil Nadu. According to trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai, it’s the biggest release for a film in the state.

“Even Rajinikanth’s ‘Enthiran’ and ‘Kabali’ released in just over 500 screens. The craze for ‘Baahubali’ is phenomenal and unprecedented. The buzz is bigger than it has ever been for a big Tamil film. Tickets are sold out everywhere,” Pillai told IANS.

Unlike other states, where the ticket prices have been hiked in huge numbers, in Tamil Nadu, the film’s ticket is being sold at the nominal price of Rs 120 due to the price cap by the government.

Pillai added that the film’s release timing is perfect.

“It’s the summer vacation for kids. The film is going to have a dream run for first four days as May 1 (Labour Day) happens to be holiday. It’s a very well planned release and I have been told the team locked the release date nearly eight months ago,” he said.

In Kerala, meanwhile, Global United Media is releasing the film in over 300 screens.

“This is the biggest release ever for a non-Malayalam film. This is the kind of film which doesn’t get made every day. Since the release of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, the total number of theatres in Kerala has increased which has automatically paved the way for a wider release for the second part.

“The film is going to set new benchmarks for Indian cinema,” Prem Menon, Managing Director, Global United Media, told IANS.

The buzz around the film’s release is even higher in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, say experts.

So, one can say that the stage is perfectly set for “Baahubali 2” to prove is mettle and set new records in Indian cinema.

Report on Advance Booking of Baahubali 2: Exceptional

    0

With just two days left for the release of ‘Baahubali 2’, advance ticket booking has opened in almost all the major circuits. And, the initial report is fantastic to say the least.

The exemplary advance booking has not just limited to the Telugu sates but similar eagerness is witnessed in circuits like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru and Punjab belt. In certain multiplexes and single screens, the tickets were booked within minutes. Although the film is being planned for a release in around 8000 screens, it still doesn’t look enough to satiate the eagerness of audiences. Similar madness is being reported in overseas as well.

Heeding to the craze for film and requests of filmmakers, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana govt. have respectively permitted the exhibitors of Baahubali 2 to screen 6 and 5 shows a day respectively. In circuits such as Mumbai, shows will commence from as early as 6 AM, which is a rarity. Not even the Bollywood biggies have able to invoke similar euphoria in North India as Baahubali 2 did.

Considering all these factors, Bahubali 2 is expected to open to gigantic numbers across the world. Do we have the first Rs 1000 crore Indian grosser debuting in theatres in two days? Yes, say trade experts.

Rana to star in a Russian film

    0

Tollywood hunk Rana Daggubati became a global star after the success of Baahubali franchise. Earlier this year there were reports that the Macho actor will make his Hollywood debut with a film titled A Momentary Lapse of Reason. He will commence shooting for this project later this year.

The latest, we hear, is that the Ghazi actor has signed a Russian film which will be a war drama. Sources say that he will be seen playing a warrior in this film. Rana, in one of the recent interviews revealed that he liked the script and gave the nod to the project, but refused to give more details about his role in the film. More details are likely to be out very soon.

Rana, who is currently busy with promotion for Baahubali2, has two more films in different stages of production.

‘Baahubali’ has given Indian filmmakers license to go big: Rana Daggubati

Actor Rana Daggubati, who awaits the release of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”, believes the success of S.S. Rajamoulis “Baahubali” as a franchise has given Indian filmmakers the faith and confidence to go big.

“I think ‘Baahubali’ has proved it that when you’re making a film for the entire nation, it is bigger than any film made in one language. You could be a filmmaker sitting in Madurai and if you have a great superhero film to make, you have the faith and confidence to make your film because there’s a country of audience to watch it,” Rana told IANS.

Does he feel there is sudden urge to make bigger films, especially after the announcement of Mohanlal-starrer multilingual film “The Mahabharata”, to be made on a budget of Rs 1000 crore?

“I think it is amazing filmmakers have started to think big. ‘Baahubali’ has given them the license to go big,” he said.

In “Baahubali” franchise, Rana plays a fictional character Bhallaladeva, who locks horns over an ancient kingdom with his brother Amarendra Baahubali, played by Prabhas.

Asked if he finds surprising that a negative character vis-à-vis all the positive ones he has played so far has won him nation-wide recognition, he said: “It’s a Rs 450 crore war film and it will give you far greater visibility.”

“It is the biggest film in the country and even if I played any other character, it would have given me the same visibility. This is franchise cinema which is far bigger than any film that I have been part of so far,” he explained.

Rana, known for being part of films such as “Leader”, “Dum Maaro Dum” and “Department”, says he has always been on the lookout for projects that transcended regional boundaries.

“‘Baahubali’ helped me explore new avenues across borders. It has given us so much strength that even while sitting in Hyderabad, we could think of making a huge franchise-based film that will be lapped up by the entire nation. It has taught me to take content to wherever I want,” he said, adding the experience of working on the country’s biggest film helped him to “understand and portray a character better”.

“It is because of the experience of working with finer actors and a highly talented director. Everything I have learnt from both the parts of the film will reflect on whatever I choose to do next,” he said.

“Baahubali: The Beginning” had a phenomenal run at the box office. It ended up as one of the biggest grossers of Indian cinema.

Is there a sense of nervousness ahead of the release of “Baahubali 2”, considering part one was a huge hit?

“It is the same story audiences are going to watch after two years. It’s the continuation of what happened at the end of first part. When we were making part one, we didn’t realise how big it will become and where it will take us,” Rana said.

“The fact that it has become a brand and has been accepted even internationally, gives you so much more strength to make a greater part two. Ultimately, everything that we have made in this film is bigger than the first part,” he added.

Talking about “Baahubali 2”, Rana said things got easier while working on this project.

“When we were doing the first part, it was our first attempt in the war genre and everything was new to us. None of us even knew how everything that we are shooting will look in the end with visual effects. There were challenges every single day and it was a struggle to address them,” Rana said.

“Though part two was a physically taxing film in every which way, what we did here was we didn’t make the same mistakes we made in part one. We had bigger budget to shoot, thanks to the success of first part,” he said.

“Baahubali 2…”, which also stars Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan, is slated for worldwide release on Friday.

Baahubali gave indelible scars to Prabhas

Dedicating nearly five years for a single project might have been taxing for Baahubali star Prabhas, but the stardom and the craze he achieved after the success of first part made him forgot all the hard work and put him in a happy space. It is well known that the macho actor performed breathtaking action stunts in both parts. Unfortunately, these stunts have left some permanent scars on Prabhas’ body.

According to the exclusive reports in a leading news daily, while shooting for some war episodes, the actor got some scars on his body and they are so deep that they remain with him forever. Sources say that Prabhas shot for most of the risky scenes by himself without any body double.

Currently busy with the promotional campaign, Prabhas will soon commence shooting for his next project which is being directed by Sujith.

What Exactly did Sathyaraj Say Offending Kannadigas

While fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Baahubali 2, the epic second part is all set to hit screens across the world in about a week. However, the film may not release in Karnataka amidst the nonsensical protests from some pro-Kannada groups. An erstwhile statement against sentiments of Kannada people by senior Tamil actor Sathyaraj who played the role of Kattappa in Baahubali is being shown as the sole reason for these protests. So, what exactly did Sathyaraj say about a decade ago that has come back to haunt Baahubali now?

Back in 2008, Tamil Nadu govt. initiated the Hogenakkal Integrated Drinking Water Project despite the Karnataka government was vehemently opposing it. At that time, then members of the Nadigar Sangam openly rebuked the Karnataka government and the key protesters against the TN project. In his speech then, Sathyaraj allegedly called Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj , “a comedian”.

Now, Kannadiga groups headed by Nagaraj found the release time of Baahubali 2 as a perfect opportunity to force the actor seek an apology. No distributor has acquired the theatrical rights of Baahubali 2 in Karnataka because of the fear of backlash from the pro-Kannadiga groups. Unless Sathyaraj seeks an apology, the smooth release of Baahublai 2 doesn’t look a possibility as of now.

Meanwhile, Rajamouli took to social media to make an appeal to the Kannadigas. He requested them that their protest isn’t affecting Sathyaraj but their film which has been made with lot of passion, hard work and money.

Rewarding to work with Rajamouli: Ajay Ghosh

    0

Actor Ajay Ghosh, best known for playing a menacing police officer in National Award-winning Tamil film “Visaaranai”, says working with filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli can be very rewarding for any artiste.

In “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion“, Ajay plays the role of a dacoit.

“Even though it’s a small role, the time spent with Rajamouli sir on the sets is equivalent to going to a film school. Working with him has been rewarding. You can learn so much even if you spend a few hours with him,” Ajay told IANS.

Excited about being part of one of India’s biggest motion pictures, he said he can’t wait to see himself on the screen.

More Confident About Baahubali 2 Than Baahubali: SS Rajamouli

Baahubali broke the language barrier to become a pan-Indian hit in 2015 but director S S Rajamouli says he was not as sure-footed about the first part as he is for the upcoming sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion. The first movie ended on a cliffhanger, leaving the audience with the question- ‘Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?’, which became a catch-phrase and sustained interested in the sequel.

“We were a little nervous during the first part but for this one we are quite confident because there has been a big fan-base which has been following it since the past two years. During this time, none of them lost interest in the film and it kept on going,” Rajamouli says. “Everyone wants to know the answer to the question,

‘WKKP’ (Why Did Katappa Kill Baahubali). We are quite upbeat about it,” he told reporters here last evening.

The two-part epic-fantasy stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah and Anushka Shetty in lead roles. Rajamouli says it was wonderful of South Indian star Prabhas to dedicate himself fully for years to Baahubali despite being a top hero of the industry. “The whole film ‘Baahubali’ was possible because of this man (Prabhas) who being a top hero in south gave three and a half years for the film. I don’t think we could’ve done it (the film) without him,” he says.

The filmmaker, however, says the franchise is so huge that no person, including himself, can be bigger than the project. “I think whether the director or producer or any other professional involved in it, we are all being carried on a big ship called Baahubali,” he says.

“‘Baahubali’ is such a big thing, we being the people who worked on it, are getting the attention. I don’t think I am a bigger person than the project,” Rajamouli says. He was speaking at the IMAX poster launch of Baahubali: The Conclusion, which is scheduled to release on April 28.

Tamannaah to play deaf, mute in new film

    0

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who is all geared up for the release of her upcoming magnum-opus “Baahubali 2”, reveled that her next is with Vashu Bhagnani where she plays a deaf and dumb’s character.

“‘Baahubali’ helped me to realise that people want me to do different characters like now I have shot for a film in which I play a deaf and mute girl, gone completely sans make-up. It is a Hindi film produced by Vashu Bhagnani sir,” Tamannaah said during an interview on Thursday.

“I am also collaborating with Prabhu (Prabhudeva) sir again, but in a completely different framework. So, it would be very interesting for audience, who have seen us before, to watch us in completely different characters and framework,” added Tamannaah who was last seen with Prabhudeva and Sonu Sood in “Tutak Tutak Tutiya”.

Talking about the success of “Baahubali”, Tamannaah proudly said: “We have always looked upon Hollywood superheroes like Super-Man and Spider-man but ‘Baahubali’ is our own Indian Superhero and the connection people have made with this franchise is unprecedented.”

Asked about the re-release of the first part into theatres, she said: “It’s an honour for any actor to say that their movie is re-released after two years. I am happy that people are supporting the format of having the movie in two parts and that’s what makes it interesting. This will encourage other movie makers to make films in parts.”

While all other characters remain the same, Anushka Shetty will be seen in a new avatar in this movie. Asked about her experience of working with Anushka, Tamannaah said: “I have known her since the beginning of my career. She is the one who helped me in the beginning of my career. I wanted a costume designer and she helped me with it. She has actually enjoyed the five most peak years of her career in this film, which is a lot for a mainstream actress like her.”

What was the most interesting part in shooting the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema? Tamannaah said: “I did a fullfledged action in a movie for the first time in my career. I had a lot of fear of height but ‘Baahubali’ has helped me overcome it.”

I Discussed Mahabharata With Aamir Khan: Rajamouli

Even though Rajamouli SS has many a times clarified that he would not make Mahabharata immediately after ‘Baahubali’, the speculations haven’t really ended. Now, the ace director seems to added fuel to the fire by spilling beans on discussing Mahabharata project with Aamir Khan.

In a recent interview, Rajamouli has reportedly divulged that he dreams to make Mahabharata on a vast scale and ascertained that it will not happen immediately after Baahubali. He also confessed that he had some time back met Aamir Khan and discussed Mahabharata. “Aamir is also interested in that epic project so we discussed it. But, as I said on numerous occasions, I need more expertise to take up that gigantic project,” Rajamouli added.

So, Rajamouli hinted that Mahabharata will not happen immediately but whenever it happens, it may star Aamir Khan, arguably the biggest star of the country at the moment. If this duo collaborates, sky is the limit for that project’s box office potential.

Some time back, reports emerged in national media that Rajamouli was planning to cast Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal and Aamir Khan in Mahabharata. Made as a trilogy, the epic film was speculated to go on floors towards the end of 2018.

‘Baahubali’ was possible because of Prabhas, says Rajamouli

Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli says a magnum opus like the two-part “Baahubali” could be possible thanks to an actor like Prabhas, who has dedicated so much time to the project.

Rajamouli was at an event here for the IMAX poster launch of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” on Wednesday.

Praising Prabhas, Rajamouli said: “The whole film ‘Baahubali’ was possible because of Prabhas, who being a lead actor in the south film industry, believed in this project and gave three and half years of his life to the film. I don’t think anybody can get so much involved in the project with that kind of passion, time and commitment.”

“I think whether director or producer or any other professional involved in it, we are all being carried on a big ship called ‘Baahubali’. ‘Baahubali’ is the ultimate product and we are the people who worked on it, so I don’t think I am a bigger person than the project,” added Rajamouli when asked about how a filmmaker often gets less attention compared to his film.

Speaking about the IMAX experience, he said: “It was 15 years ago when I first saw a film in IMAX format. In our childhood, we used to see film on 70mm screens and then suddenly we got this larger than life experience in IMAX, through which we literally felt like being in that space and time itself.

“So the first image I saw, and I decided to make my films in IMAX format. And today, when the dream has got fulfilled, it’s a quality moment for me.”

“Baahubali 2” has been digitally remastered in the IMAX format.

Its story lent itself to the format, Rajamouli said, adding: “People need to see it on bigger screens with wider sound to experience what we intended to see.”

“We have big theatres now but we still need more number of theatres to take the audience there. It’s a business model now to release the film in maximum number of theatres to get maximum viewership. And for a film like ‘Baahubali’, where people are anticipating so much about the movie that trailer of the film has crossed 100 million views is on par with any Hollywood film.

“So, it makes all sense to release the film at maximum number of theatres.”

The movie also features Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles.

    Sankarabharanam? Or Bahubali?

    0

There has been lot of press about “Bahubali” being the first Telugu film to bag the National Award for Best Film. Infact, it bagged another Award for Best Special Effects. That takes its national award tally to two. But is it the greatest Telugu film ever as the press is agog with?

Not true, if you look at the total National Awards Tally for “Sankarabharanam”. The 1980 classic film by K.Viswanath bagged not one but four National Awards that year. Best Feature Film in the category of Popular and Wholesome Entertainment, Best Music (K.V.Mahadevan), Best Male Playback Singer (S.P.Balasubramanyam) and Best Female Playback Singer (Vani Jayram). That seals it in favour of “Sankarabharanam” which bagged four National Awards (Swarna Kamal) as against two National Awards for “Bahubali”.

For the record-lovers, here are more facts. In the year that “Sankarabharanam” bagged the National Award for Wholesome Entertainment, the Best Film Category Award went to “Shodh”, a Hindi film directed by Sitakant Mishra. Incidentally, the Best Feature Film in Telugu that year went to an off-beat film directed by U.Visweswar Rao (“Nagna Satyam”).

That settles the verdict. Yes, “Bahubali” bagged National Award for Best Film in the Pure Category. But the Awards tally leaves a lot to be desired, compared with the fact that “BajiRao Mastani” bagged as many as six National Awards including Best Direction etc. It remains to be seen whether any other Telugu Film comes closer to beating “Sankarabharanam” which bagged four National Awards. But for now, “Bahubali” team can pat itself. Another interesting coincidence to note is that 1980 and 2016 are the only two years that saw Tollywood get recognition for two Telugu films (“Sankarabharanam” and “Nagna Satyam” in 1980 and “Bahubali” and “Kanche” in 2016). Tollywood gets “pure” recognition after so many years!

Baahubali to use emerging platform for publicity

    0

Team Baahubali made waves when it released the magnum opus ‘Baahubali‘ without a single TV or Radio advertisement. Even in Hyderabad city, there was not even one single hoarding.

Instead, the team made optimum and clever use of social media for maximum impact. It used messaging tools like whatsapp for maximum contact with fans. Now for the second instalment, the team is getting ready to maximise the usage of a hot new platform and that is snapchat.

While the team used snapchat for promoting the first part as well, it was quite minimal. For the second instalment, the team will make use of this platform more extensively. Snapchat is currently the hottest emerging platform around the world among teenagers and young adults. Team Baahubali wants to maximise reach among this segment.

The film is set for a 2017 release and shooting is currently underway.
