CID slaps notices on Devineni Uma yet again!

5

The AP CID sleuths have slapped a notice on senior TDP leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao yet again on Friday (today) directing him to appear before them on May 1.

The CID has filed cases against Uma accusing him of morphing a video of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy and displaying the morphed video in his press conference early this month.

Interestingly, Uma appeared before CID in this case only on yesterday (Thursday).

The CID sleuths grilled him for nine hours and left him later.

However, CID officials claimed that they served notices again because Uma did not cooperate during questioning on Thursday and did not give satisfactory replies.

They said Uma gave contradictory replies when questioned about the whereabouts of tab and mobile phone used by him in the press conference.

CID notice to Devineni in Jagan morphing case

1

The CID officers have given fresh notices to former Minister and senior TDP leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao in connection with his comments on CM Jaganmohan Reddy. The CID has given these notices based on a complaint filed by a lawyer who made morphing allegations against Devineni. The officers pasted a copy of the notice at Devineni’s Gollapudi house today, asking the TDP leader to appear before the Kurnool CID police at 10.30 a.m. today itself.

The complainant levelled charges of deliberate attempts on the part of Devineni to tarnish the image of CM Jagan. He said that Devineni showed morphed videos of Jagan Reddy and spread misinformation that the CM has spoiled the divinity and sacredness of the Seven Hills Tirumala Temple.

Moreover, Devineni made unwarranted comments like the one that Jagan has criminalised and reduced AP into Bihar. This was why the people were afraid to come to AP. Devineni was alleged to have made these comments at his press conference held in Tirupati on April 7.
Based on the lawyer’s complaint, the CID booked a case against Devineni under multiple sections 464, 465, 468, 469, 470, 471, 505 and 120 (b).

BPL persons bought land worth Rs 200 cr in Amaravati: CID

1

About 800 people living the below poverty line purchased land worth over Rs 200 crore in and around Andhra Pradesh capital’s Amaravati during 2014-15, revealed investigations by Andhra Pradesh Police into alleged land scam.

The CID, which probed the alleged irregularities in the land deals in the capital region during the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime, found that as many as 796 people living Below Poverty Line (BPL) purchased 761.34 acres of land.

According to officials, all 796 are holding white ration cards. The cards are issued to BPL families with income of less than Rs 5,000 per month.

As these people were suspected to be used for benami transactions, the CID officials have formed four teams to identify those involved.

The CID has also asked the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate to inquire into cases as many buyers did not even have the PAN cards and the land deals were transacted in cash.

Two former ministers were among over 700 people booked by the CID on charge of indulging in insider trading in Amaravati.

The CID registered the First Information Report (FIR) three days after the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government announced in the Assembly that the land deals would be probed by an appropriate agency.

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy had told the Assembly that the government has evidence that leaders of the TDP and their supporters had purchased land to the extent of 4,700 acres during June-December 2014, before the then TDP government declared Amaravati the state capital.

The then Urban Development Minister P. Narayana and then Agriculture Minister Prattipati Pulla Rao Aare the two ministers named as accused in the FIR. They have been charged with forcefully purchasing lands from villagers.

According to Superintendent of Police, CID, Mary Prashanti, the cases were registered under Section 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), besides Section 3 of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The CID also registered case against TDP leader Bellamkonda Narasimha Rao and others who had bought lands in Amaravati through proxies.

The cases were registered on a complaint by Pothuraju Bujji of Venkatayapalem village that some people forced to sell her land admeasuring around one acre.

Pulla Rao and other TDP leaders dubbed the case a part of the political vendetta by Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

Alleged insider trading is cited as one of the reasons by the government for deciding to decentralise the state capital.

It has announced Visakhapatnam will be developed as executive capital and Kurnool as judicial capital while Amaravati will serve as legislative capital.

The Bills for creation of three capitals were passed by the Assembly on Monday while farmers in Amaravati continued their protest demanding that Amaravati be continued as the only state capital.

The farmers, who had given 33,000 acres of land for development of Amaravati as the state capital, have also challenged the government’s move in the High Court.

CID files cases against Ex Ministers: Insider trading

0

The BJP and Pawan Kalyan have been asking why Jagan Circar is not filing cases against TDP leaders if they really resorted to insider trading in Amaravati lands. There is also deadlock in 3 Capitals Bill. This is embarrassing YCP. Amid this, the CID has now registered criminal cases against two TDP Ex Ministers Ponguru Narayana and Prathipati Pulla Rao. The CID levelled allegations against them for purchasing lands in Amaravati Capital City area by misusing their ministerial positions during the TDP rule. The CID filed cases of cheating and criminal conspiracy under Section 420, 120 B, 506, etc. Interestingly, the CID filed these cases based on a complaint made by a dalit woman belonging to Venkatayapalem village in Amaravati Capital City area.

The dalit woman complained that the Ex Ministers misled her and induced her into selling her 99 cents land. The CID also filed cases against the local TDP leaders. Doubts are being raised on the timing of these cases. Questions are being asked why the CID took seven months to file these cases and why it acted only after politicisation of the issue.

However, the Ministers hit back saying that they would fight a legal battle against the CID cases. Pulla Rao said that these cases were part of the political revenge being taken by YCP rule against opposition.

With the election commission announcing schedule for Nandyal by-poll, and the new development in this scam is adding to the woes of the ruling TDP.

Keshav Reddy reportedly joined TDP in 2014 and was said to be one of the reason for Ch AdiNarayana Reddy to defect to the ruling party from YSR Congress party. Andhra Pradesh Minister of Marketing and Warehousing Adi Narayana Reddy representing Jammalamadugu constituency is a relative of Keshava Reddy.

Nonetheless, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu assured assistance and justice to the victims of Keshava Reddy school scam.
