Weekly Box-Office Report : Lover Is a Big Disaster, RX 100 Surpasses 10 Cr

Lover : The film has collected an approx 2 Crores Share by the end of it’s first week in Domestic markets against the valued rights of over 7 Crores. The film is a huge disaster and Biggest ever in Raj Tarun’s Career.

RX 100 : The film has slowed down a little during the weekdays in it’s Second Week which was expected as it has a limited appeal. Nevertheless the film is a Blockbuster with more than 10.25 Cr Share in Domestic Markets.

ChinnaBabu : The film was steady in it’s second week with minimal shares taking two weeks cumulative share to 3.80 Crores in Telugu States. It is a disaster as theatrical rights are valued for more than 7 Crores.

Pantham : The film has closed it’s business with a distributor share of 10.30 Cr in Domestic Markets against the theatrical rights of more than 13 Crores. Below Average Fare.

Manchu Lakshmi’s W/O Ram was a washout and Vijetha has ended up as a disaster with 1 Cr Share.

US box office : Dismal show of Telugu films continue

Telugu films are having a dismal run at the US box office. It is yet another dull weekend for Tollywood as new releases are heading towards becoming huge disasters.

Dil Raju’s Lover, which carried decent buzz before release, turned out to be an embarrassing disaster as it collected $ 17K in its first weekend. This is the biggest failure for Dil Raju’s banner in recent times.

Manchu Lakshmi’s crime thriller Wife of Ram also failed to generate interest among overseas audience. Despite getting wide publicity, the film has failed to collect noticeable figures ( $12.5K )

Tollywood’s bold and realistic romantic drama Rx 100, which emerged as a runaway hit at domestic box office, couldn’t repeat the same magic at US box office as the film collected a meagre $ 130K by the end of this weekend.

1. Lover : After a Poor Day One the film has never made it’s ground which resulted in a very poor weekend with a maximum recovery of 25 percent so far. It will be going to end up as a miserable DISASTER.

2. RX 100 : The film has continued it’s Blockbuster run in it’s second weekend with a cumulative share of 9.50 Crores in Telugu States. It should surpass 10 Crore mark by the end of this week. The collections were even more than the new release Lover at some places. BLOCKBUSTER.

3. Chinnababu : The film is minting some minimal shares and will be out of most of the theatres by this week. Buyers will be loosing at least 40 percent of their investments. DISASTER.

4. Pantham : The film continued to feed some theatres and Buyers will be loosing around 20 percent of their investments. Below Average.

5. Vijetha : Some theatres are still playing this film with no other options being left. Producer has lost at least 3 Crores on this film. DISASTER.

Lover has taken disastrous openings in Telugu States. The film has collected a distributor share of little over 50 lakhs on it’s Day One in Telugu States which is very poor. This the weakest opening ever in Raj Tarun’s career as collections are on par with Rajugadu which is his least opener by far but that film was released after several postponements. The film has released all over on advance basis and the theatrical rights can be valued for 7 Crores including expenses.

What’s next Raj Tarun

Young actor Raj Tarun who scored some decent hits during the early days of his career has been struggling to taste success. After a series of debacles, the actor pinned many hopes on his recent outing Lover which released yesterday. Despite of being produced by top filmmaker Dil Raju, Lover registered some poor openings at the box-office. The actor is left in a state of shock and is puzzled about his next project.

With a series of crap films, Raj Tarun is left with no interesting opportunity currently. While young actor Nikhil has been racing ahead cementing his market by picking up interesting films, Raj Tarun’s recent mistakes costed him a bomb and the actor lost his stake in Tollywood. We have to wait to see if the youngster can bounce back and join the league again.

‘ Lover ‘ Review : Passable love story

Set in the backdrop of Ananthapuram, ‘Lover’ is the story of Raju (Raj Tarun) – a custom car bike mechanic by profession. Raju who lost his parents in childhood lives with his brother’s (Rajiv Kanakala) family. Raju falls in love with a malayalee nurse charitha (Riddhi). Charitha moves to kerala to protect herself from a hospital mafia Charitha. Raju follows her and so are the villains.

Rest of the story is about why and how the villains are trying to attack Charitha, how Raju protects her. Who wins is an easy guess though.

Analysis:

‘Lover’ film opens establishing hero (Raj)’s family background, his profession. Raj and Charitha’s encounter happens in a hospital when Raj joins there after an injury. Majority of the first half is filled with routine attempts of Raj to impress Charitha. She finally changes her opinion on him after an incident and starts liking him. Director Annish Krishna establishes villain’s premise in parallel but villains’ crossover into lead pair’s life doesn’t occur till interval. First half is short,one-hour duration and pretty much flat. Raj’s friends’ comedy episodes failed to evoke any laughter. Had this comedy track or love track worked, first half would have been much better. There are two songs in first half that are worth mentioning, ‘Naalo Edo Chilipi Kala ‘,‘Anthe Kada mari’ are good.

Post interval parts are the crux of this film. Shot in God’s own country Kerala’s rustic places, scenes and songs visuals are very beautiful. Cameraman sameer reddy’s work is so pleasant in few shots. ‘Adbhutam ‘song visually stands out. When villains too reach kerala, one would think the film may again take familiar path. But by adding something different concept in the way hero deals with villains makes the climax episodes not bored. Overall second half is a satisfactory one. An alternative catchy title would have more helped this film is a thought after watching this film.

Production values by SV Creations are lavish, Harshit Reddy spent liberally for casting and locations. Prawin Pudi’s editing makes this film rightly paced. Seasoned cameraman Sameer Reddy’s work needs special appreciation. Music directors list is too big, they have done good work with 3 songs.

Performances:

Raj Tarun who is also known for ease in action continued his effortless performance and is quite natural as Raj. Debutante Riddhima is adequate, her attractive eyes are asset. Rajiv Kanakala got a role which scores sympathy. Ajay, Sachin khedekar and Subbaraju are the villainy gang. Praveen, Satyam Rajesh, satya form the hero’s friends but their roles failed to generate comedy

Positives:

  • Second Half Kerala episodes
  • Clean film – Watchable with Family
  • 3 Melodious songs with good visuals
  • Casting, production and technical values

Negatives:

  • Routine Story
  • Mediocre first half

Verdict:

LOVER is a clean love story that is aimed at youth and families. Content wise this film is an average one, regular cinema goers will not regret watching this film. 3 Songs, Kerala episodes are the USP. Dil Raju promotions, lack of competition will make this film a safe venture at the box-office in AP, TS.

Lover trailer : A Bike Mechanic’s love story

Young hero Raj Tarun’s upcoming film Lover, directed by Annish Krishna, is gearing up to hit the screens very soon. The theatrical trailer of the film has been unveiled today and it reveals what is in store for audience.

The two minute trailer is all about what ensues after a bike mechanic falls in love with a girl from a well-to-do family. The trailer starts off with Raj Tarun’s intro as a self-confessed specialist bike mechanic who designs his life on his own set of rules. He usually carries the same mannerisms like his previous outings.

One fine day, he chances upon his soul mate and tries to woo her. Riddhi Kumar has decent screen presence and looks cute as girl-next-door.

Cut to the chase, Raj Tarun is seen battling with villains to win his love no matter what the consequences are. The later part of the trailer is filled with action and emotional content.

On the whole, the trailer offers nothing exciting or novel but a love story with good dose of action. The screen play and other technical aspects might decide the fate of this film.

Music score given by five composers is going to be the biggest asset for the film and Dil Raju’s production values are adequate.

The film is directed by Karunakaran who is doing this film after a long 3.5 years is also looking for the same. Raj Tarun who has bitten the dust offlate with Andhhagadu and Rajugadu is looking to get back into the game with the film Lover. Lover Audio Review

Lover is an upcoming romantic flick starring Raj Tarun and Riddhi Kumar in lead roles. This film is produced by prestigious production house Sri Venkateswara Creations headed by Dil Raju. Music for the film is composed by Ankit Tiwari, Sai Karthik , Arko , Rishi Rich and Ajay Vas.

The album begins with a funky fusion number Naalo Chilipi Kala sung by the talented artist Yazin Nizar and compsoed by Sai Karthik. The usage of sublime violin with peppy beats is the biggest highlight of this song. The composer attempts to strike a union between Western rhythm and Indian melody- and succeeds in it greatly. The violin bit is interestingly set in Raaga Abheri and the interludes swiftly follow the lead raaga in strings.

What A Ammayi is a mass number but with classy overtones. Sonu Nigam sings this song with his melodious vocals and the song is well supported by thavil beats and digital sequencing. Arka composed this song with a great level of grip over the theme and does it greatly. Sri Mani’s lyrics are funky and also has the usage of conversational lines. The song also has an American Country aspect to it but sticks to Telugu flavours as well.

The album takes a turn with Adbutham composed by Tanishk Baghchi which brings the beauty of classical mandolin fused with techno beats. Jubin Nautyal’s perfection in vocals is worth mentioning. The song is effectively composed by Raaga Mohanam- the raaga of Romance which blends to Western C Major scale with great ease. The usage of thavil is quite brilliantly done in the midst of modern chord progressions.

It is now time for a dance number Ramuni Baanamula sung by Sri Charan which also has an inspirational look in terms of lyrics by Sri Mani. The song has peppy rhythm which is quite foot tapping and blends with modern riffs. The interludes maintain the pace with great confidence and balance. Usage of electric guitar gives the song a rock feel too.

A beautiful number Anthe Kada Mari sung by Ankit Tiwari, and very talented Jonita Gandhi arrives in style next. Lyrics by legendary Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry prove once again why he is the brilliant master lyricist. The song brings a beautiful soul feel to the entire album and usage of harmonica along with acoustic guitar is worth mentioning.

The finale occurs with a melancholic ballad Yevaipuga Naa Choopu sung and composed by Ankit Tiwari. However, the song has great resemblance to Titanic’s soundtrack my heart will go on in terms of the celtic flute usage in the prelude. Interestingly, the song transforms to a trance number in terms of the paced up rhythm and soulful singing as well. In short, it is a fitting ending for a brilliant album!

Verdict:

Lover is a promising album delivered by multiple composers as a single entity. The melodies in this album will be surely admired for days to come!

The first look and motion poster have been unveiled today morning. While the first look poster is romantic, the motion poster glimpses a deeply contemplating Raj Tarun who is sitting lonely on the edge of a cliff. The evocative music score signifies his mood. Also, his customized bike is showcased in the motion poster.

Raj Tarun is playing a bike mechanic in this film which also has Riddhi Kumar as the female lead. The shooting formalities have been wrapped up and the film is slated for release in July.
