Epic big screen dramas like “Padmaavat” and “Mahanati”, as well as features like “Nagarkirtan”, “Sinjar” and “Bhayanakam” are a part of the selection of Indian Panorama films for the 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa next month.

Acclaimed director Shaji N. Karun’s Malayalam drama “Olu” will open the feature film category of the Indian Panorama section, which will have a mix of Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Tulu, Ladakhi, Jasari and Hindi films, read a statement from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced on Wednesday.

The feature film jury of thirteen members was headed by acclaimed film director and screenwriter Rahul Rawail. The jury has selected a bouquet of 22 feature films, including titles like “Walking With The Wind”, “Ee Maa Yove”, “Dhappa”, “To Let” and “Peranbu”.

“Padmaavat”, “Mahanati”, “Raazi” and “Tiger Zinda Hai” have been chosen as ‘mainstream films’ by an internal committee of the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF).

The titles for the non-feature film segment were chosen by a separate seven-member jury headed by film director and editor Vinod Ganatra. The jury selected the film “Kharvas”, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale as the opening non-feature film of Indian Panorama 2018. There will be a total of 21 non-feature films selected for it.

IFFI 2018 will be held in Goa from November 20-28.

Tollywood’s latest runaway hit Mahanati has joined the elite list of Telugu films which collected more $ 2.5 M in overseas. After its third weekend, the film’s total gross stands at $2,488,810.

By the end of Monday, the Keerthi Suresh starrer has hit the $ 2.5 M and emerged as the sixth highest grossing film in overseas after Baahubali2,1, Rangasthalam, Bharat Ane Nenu and Srimanthudu.

Mahanati had a terrific run in overseas after its release on May 9th. Despite new releases, the film remained steady and collected decent figures after a sensational first weekend haul.

Directed by Nag Aswhin, the film is produced by Aswhini Dutt.

Keerthi Suresh starrer Mahanati, a befitting biopic on yesteryear actress Savitri, has set the cash registers ringing in all areas after its release last Wednesday. The emotional biopic is minting strong revenues, thanks to the promising reviews and unanimous positive talk from all sections of audience.

In overseas, Mahanati is having a dream run with sensational collections right from the premiers day. The film embarked on a superb start with half a million haul on its first day and a $ 1.6 Million weekend. Not stopping here, Mahanati extended its dream run on weekdays as well with promising collections.

As of this writing, Mahanati has surpassed the $ 2M mark by the end of its second Friday and is likely to add few more numbers as there are no prominent releases till next week.

Directed by Nag Aswhin, Mahanati stars Samantha Vijay Devarakonda Dulqueer Salmaan in important roles. Aswini Dutt is the producer.

The movie turned out to be a discussion nationwide because of the strong content, stellar performances and the poetic narration. Now Bollywood top producer Aditya Chopra heard about the film and he watched it between the audience on Tuesday. Impressed with the way the film has been made, he is keen on acquiring the dubbing rights of the film.

Aditya Chopra feels that the film should be dubbed into Hindi to carry the Telugu culture. He is in talks with the makers however a deal is yet to be locked. The film’s producer Priyanka Dutt too confirmed that they are in plans to take Mahanati across the country to reach wider sections of audience and they have been looking for the best options.

Nag Ashwin directed Mahanati while Keerthy Suresh played the lead role. Swapna Cinema and Vyjayanthi Movies bankrolled this prestigious project.
