The Ministry called the incident extremely unfortunate.

“The issue of corruption in CBFC brought forth by actor Vishal is extremely unfortunate. The Government has zero tolerance for corruption and strictest action will be taken against anyone found involved. Madras High Court has vacated the stay on Vishal’s Mark Antony film’s release. Stay order was issued after Vishal failed to deposit Rs 15 Cr with Lyca Productions. In detail, Vishal failed to repay the loan amount of Rs 21.29 Cr to Lyca Productions. After the actor failed to pay the amount, the court ordered Vishal to give the rights to his film to Lyca Productions.

Vishal ignored the court order and released his film ‘Veeramae Vaagai Soodum’. Court ordered him to deposit Rs 15Cr with Lyca Productions, which Vishal even failed to do. The case came up before the court of law on September 8th, where the court banned the release of Mark Antony. Vishal appeared before the court for the next schedule, that is on the 12th of September (today) and cleared the issue. Mark Antony is now all set for release on the 15th of September.

After the delay of Salaar, all the films that are slated for Vinayaka Chavithi’s weekend release are pushed ahead. Vishal’s Mark Antony is the only South film that is releasing on September 15th. The Madras High Court issued a ban on this film now. The court imposed a ban after Vishal failed to pay Rs 15 crores due for Lyca Productions and the issue has been in the court for a long time. Mark Antony will head for a theatrical release only if Vishal repays the pending dues to Lyca Productions.

Vishal has been asked to appear before the court on September 12th. Mark Antony is directed by Adhik Ravichandran and Vishal, SJ Suryah, Ritu Varma is the heroine. The film is a fictional comedy and we have to wait to see if Mark Antony clears all the hurdles and hits the screens during the Vinayaka Chavithi weekend.

Tamil actor Vishal averts major mishap on ‘Mark Antony’ sets

Tamil actor Vishal had a miraculous escape from a near-death situation during the shooting of his movie ‘Mark Antony’.

It happened when a truck on the sets lost stability and advanced towards the actor and his co-actors. The huge truck was on the brink of crashing into the place where the actors, including Vishal, were stationed. Fortunately, each one of them escaped unscathed.

According to the plan, the truck was to hit a wall and then stop, but the wall collapsed and the truck apparently lost control and advanced towards the area where the artistes were stationed.

Vishal said in his tweet: “Just saved my life in a matter of few seconds and a few inches, thanks to the Almighty. Numb after this incident. Back on my feet and back to the shoot.”

The movie directed by Adhik Ravichandran has SJ Surya playing a stellar role, the details of which are still under wraps. The internationally renowned stunt director Peter Hein, together with Dhilip Subbarayan, Kamal Kannan and Ravi Varma, are doing the action scenes.

Other than Vishal and SJ Surya, the cast comprise Abhinaya, Ritu Varma and Sunil Varma.
