Mayawati declares ex-IPS officer as CM face in Telangana

1

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati on Sunday announced that party’s Telangana unit President and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar will be the chief ministerial candidate of the party.

Addressing a public meeting here, she declared that if the BSP is voted to power in Telangana, Praveen Kumar will be the Chief Minister.

She said after taking voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service (IPS), he had been working with missionary zeal to strengthen the party in Telangana. She hoped that he would take very good care of people like the BSP did in Uttar Pradesh when it was in power.

Mayawati appealed to people to bring her party to power in Telangana in the elections scheduled in next few months and also give the most number of Lok Sabha seats from the state to the BSP in the elections to be held next year.

She said if SCs, STs, OBCs, Muslims and other minorities and other weaker sections want a life of dignity and want to liberate themselves from oppression, they should bring the BSP to power.

Taking a dig at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his call for amending the Constitution, the BSP leader urged people to throw Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) out of power. She said the government which is talking of changing the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar, should be thrown out of power.

Mayawati did not agree that BSP is weakening in Uttar Pradesh. “You may be wondering why the BSP is weakening in Uttar Pradesh but it is not weakening. As long as elections were held with ballot paper, our party grew in popularity but when EVMs were introduced, we lost our votes due to manipulation in EVMs,” she claimed.

The BSP leader also alleged that in states where the BJP is growing strong, conspiracies are being hatched to split the votes of Dalits and weaker sections by floating smaller parties.

Mayawati also took potshots at Chief Minister KCR for trying to copy BSP to promise land for Dalits. “He promised 3 acres of free land but did not implement it,” she said.

She also alleged that for the sake of votes, KCR named the State Secretariat after Babasaheb Ambedkar government building and installed his tallest statue.

She recalled that when Telangana people were fighting for their own state, the BSP was the first party to raise its voice in Parliament in their support and it also supported the Bill brought in Parliament for creation of the state.

Mayawati said that the weaker sections, Dalits, tribals, backward, youth and unemployed in Telangana were hit by irregularities in recruitment. She alleged that the state government is trying to suppress the voice raised against these irregularities.

The BSP leader also questioned the silence of Chief Minister over the release of a convict in the murder of slain Dalit IAS officer G. Krishnaiah.

She was referring to the release of A former MP Anand Mohan Singh by the Bihar government.

The gangster-turned-politician, who had instigated the bureaucrat’s lynching in 1994 and was sentenced life imprisonment, was recently released from jail after Bihar government tweaked the rules.

Mayawati said BSP raised its voice against the release of the convict and demanded justice for the family of the slain officer.

Chandrababu to meet Rahul, Mayawati and Akhilesh

0

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has a hectic schedule in Delhi and Lucknow today. He is going to meet Congress President Rahul Gandhi, BSP supremo Mayawati and SP President Akhilesh Yadav separately. Under the prevailing circumstances, the BJP is expected to emerge as the single largest party in Lok Sabha. The President may give the first chance to BJP to form the government. Chandrababu is discussing plans with friendly leaders on how to counter BJP on this.

There are expectations that the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party will play a crucial role if they win more than 50 MP seats in the current election. The two parties contested polls as an alliance in Uttar Pradesh which is why they are hoping to win majority seats by beating the BJP there.
In this backdrop, Chandrababu Naidu is making sure the channels of communication remain open between the leaders of Congress, SP, BSP and also Trinamool Congress in the next few days. Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati and Mamata Banerjee are the main contenders for the PM post as of now. Chandrababu’s efforts are to ensure that the PM candidate issue should not be a hurdle for anti-Modi parties to oust him eventually after May 23 polls.

Modi’s hopes on split between Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav

0

Samajwadi Party leaders shared election dais with Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Rae Bareli seat. Actually, SP doesn’t have any alliance with Congress in Uttar Pradesh. It has a tie-up with the BSP. Will SP’s closeness with Congress affect its future relations with BSP? PM Modi says SP leader Akhilesh Yadav has joined hands with Congress to isolate BSP leader Mayawati.

Modi predicts that there will certainly be differences between Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav after the May 23 counting and results. Is Modi hoping for a split in the opposition ranks? The present surveys say the BJP is facing a very tough time and that it’s no longer a smooth ride to power for Modi again. He would be requiring support from allies and even some of the present foes. Modi has already begun his game plan to win over enemies and secure his position in the event of the hung Parliament. Mayawati’s support may become crucial in such a development. The BJP is making smart moves to outwit Congress.

I am not a fake backward caste person, says Modi

0

Prime Minister Modi issued a strong counter to BSP supremo Mayawati who said that Modi is not actually an OBC. Modi asserted that he belongs to the most backward caste and the rival leaders were only doing caste politics to tarnish his image. The Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party are long using caste mantra to get power and loo public money. PM appealed to his rivals not to drag him into the caste politics.

Modi said that he was not a fake OBC. It is Mayawati who has not learnt anything from Ambedkar’s life but her only goal is to grab the seat of power. Has she ever tried to achieve the ideals of Ambedkar? Mayawati has tied up with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav who has opposed Ambedkar.

PM Modi said that the main agenda of Mayawati is caste with which she wants to come back to power. She is not bothered about the problems of the poor people and she is not bothered about the country at all. Modi criticised that during regimes of Mayawati and Akhilesh, local rowdies and goondas reared their ugly head. How can they promise to protect India’s security when they have failed in respect of law and order within Uttar Pradesh? he asked.

Mayawati questions how can KCR be CM, when 70% Telangana is backward?

0

SC, ST, OBC and minorities in Telangana account for about 90 per cent population, then how can TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao become chief minister as his community ‘Velama’ not even one per cent, questions BSP chief Mayawati, while calling upon the marginalised communities to fight for their due share in power politics.

Mayawati, who served as CM of Utter Pradesh (UP) for four times, along with Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan addressed at a public meeting organized at LB Stadium in the city.

“Only leaders from communities that account for 1.5-2 per cent are ruling the state. But, SC, ST and BCs account for 70 per cent and they’re not included in the mainstream politics. KCR from Velama caste and it doesn’t comprise just one per cent of the total population. Telangana population comprises more marginalized castes and I call upon all these communities to fight for their reasonable share in the power politics. After formation of statehood, the socio-economic conditions of SC, ST, OBC and minorities have not changed much,” observed Mayawati.

The former UP chief minister has further asked Telanganites not to fall for fake poll promises of BJP and Congress.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan has asked KCR not to meddle in AP politics, while requesting the Telangana chief minister not to have any hatred towards Andhraites. “I would like to see Mayawati as Prime Minister of India. Now, the time has come for India to have a Dalit PM. From this dais, I request KCR to spare Andhraites in his fight with AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu,” remarked Pawan Kalyan.

Will KCR join Mayawati and Akhilesh?

1

KCR has been talking about a federal front without national parties like BJP and Congress for quite some time. Now Mayawati and Akhilesh seem to have joined hands to form alliance in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With this, a debate started whether KCR will take up initiative and join Mayawati and Akhilesh as part of his federal front plans.

In a recent event of Karunanidhi’s statue unveiling, DMK president Stallin has proposed Rahul Gandhi as PM candidate of UPA. This event was attended by Chandra Babu also. Among others who attended were,Sonia Gandhi, Rajnikanth, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanswamy. But Stallin’s comments did not go well with Mayawati and Akshilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav said that -all opposition parties do not necessarily share DMK president MK Stalin’s views that Rahul Gandhi should be the next prime minister of India. After this event, SP and BSP decided to join hands and go for the coalition in the state of UP and the interesting thing is – Congress will not be a part of it. SP, BSP, RLD will together fight 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

As Maya and Akshilesh also planning a coalition without BJP and Congress, there is a very high chance of KCR joining this coalition at some point of time in future. Moreover Mamta also objected to Stallin’s comments and opined that announcing PM candidate prior to polls will deter other parties joining the coalition. So, political equations are changing so fast and federal front without BJP and Congress may be a reality soon. We will have to wait for a few more days for more clarity.

CBN meets Mayawati, blow to BJP?

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu went to New Delhi on Saturday and met key leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Yadav and Mayawati. People opine, CBN is playing key role in garnering support against BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

However, it seems CBN’s move is aimed at not Lok Sabha elections but at upcoming 4 state elections. As everyone knows, Mayawati has following among voters of scheduled castes across the country. If she allies with Congress, usually SC votes will polarize towards that alliance and help consolidate the vote bank. But as of now Mayawati is not allying with Congress in 4 states elections. Some politicians commented that she had colluded with BJP and thats why she is not joining Congress alliance and there by help split SC votes.

Now Chandrababu met Mayawati and national media is keenly watching the consequences. Some analysts pointing that Chandra Babu might have requested Maya to team up with Congress and help BJP in these 4 state elections. We will have to wait and see whether CBN’s meet has really influenced Mayawati or not.

Deputy PM to Mayawati?: Modi’s 2019 offer

0

In the face of mounting opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President Amit Shah have once again done the impossible thing with the sole of purpose of preventing Congress from taking benefits out of dalit vote bank in 2019 elections.

Modi and Shah are stated to have offered Deputy Prime Minister’s post to BSP supremo Mayawati if she agrees for a pre-poll arrangement and join the NDA alliance on the national scene ahead of elections.

Rumours say this is the actual reason why Mayawati has overnight changed her stand and began moving away from Congress at a crucial time when all other anti-BJP parties are rallying together to teach Modi a lesson in December polls in five states.

If BSP joins NDA, there are chances of polarisation of dalit votes to a large extent in most parts of the country going by the way ‘dalit deputy PM’ card will be played effectively by BJP leaders.

This will also deal a blow to Congress, which has traditionally been dependent on dalit votes for political power and electoral victories in different states.

BJP’s game plan has also worked well with Mayawati considering the fact that she also needed support from a strong party at the centre as her BSP is suffering from electoral defeats despite having considerable vote share in different states.

Moreover, Mayawati is also facing charges of corruption in cases that are being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.

Obviously, Modi and Shah continue agenda of winning elections rather than addressing concerns of erosion of ideology that BJP stands for.

In matters of politics and power, values always take a back seat.
