Sucharitha speaks of changing loyalties in AP

0

AP former home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha is likely to change her political loyalties, if her statement is seriously analysed. Sucharitha was the first home minister of the YSR Congress government from June 2019 to April 2022. It was the highest recognition given to any first time MLA, that too a woman MLA.

However, she had been remaining silent and inactive in the party ever since she was removed from the cabinet in April 2022. She hardly took any part in any of the party activities since then.

Now, with just 15 months left for the next round of elections in 2024, she is giving signals on her change of party. She had said that she would stay with Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the rest of her political career.

However, she said that she would follow her husband if he changes the party. “As a trusted and loyal wife, I have to follow my husband,” she said, indicating the hidden agenda in the family. It is said that Sucharitha is one of those 40 sitting MLAs whom Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to drop for the next election and hence she is contemplating on changing the party.

So far, sitting MLAs Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Vasantha Krishna Prasad and Undavalli Sridevi, besides Sucharitha were given indications that they would be dropped from the 2024 contest. Anam and Vasantha have already secured clearance from TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu about their future.

Sources say that Sucharitha too is in touch with the TDP chief and is likely to change her loyalties to Chandrababu Naidu either in December this year or January 2024.

Finally Sucharitha gives up her protest, meets Jagan

1

Former home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha finally met chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli on Wednesday. They were closeted for nearly half-an-hour and the former home minister came out smiling.

She blamed the media for misrepresentation of her letter as resignation letter. She said that she had sent a letter to the chief minister thanking him for making her the home minister. However, that letter was projected as resignation letter by the media.

Sucharitha was unavailable for the past three days indicating that she was not happy with the chief minister for not including her in the new cabinet. There were reports in a section of the media that Sucharitha had sent her resignation to the MLA post and would keep away from politics.

She was unavailable even for MP Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, who tried to hold talks and pacify the dissent leaders. He held talks with MLAs Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and Samineni Udaya Bhanu, former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy in the last three days. It is said that he had successfully communicated with these leaders and pacified them.

However, Sucharitha was not available even to senior leader and government adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Tuesday. Finally, she made it on Wednesday and appeared at the chief minister’s office.

Sucharitha said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had given her greatest importance in the party and the government. She said she would continue to work for the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections. She finally said that she was unavailable for the leaders and the media due to health issues and not because of dissent.

Why Lokesh didn’t visit women victims when in power: YSRCP

1

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharitha on Monday took a dig at Nara Lokesh, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and the son of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, for not consoling the families of those women who were attacked during the previous TDP government.

Sucharitha asked why Lokesh, despite being a minister in the previous TDP government, did not visit the families of Tehsildar Vanajakshi, who was physically attacked by former TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, and deceased students Rishiteswari and Sugali Preeti.

Exhorting the resolve of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in protecting women in the southern state, she said a ‘Disha law’ was implemented in the state while the real Disha incident occurred in neighbouring Telangana.

Sucharita said that Reddy is empowering women politically, financially and socially.

The Disha app, a digital tool for women’s protection, has already been downloaded by 40 lakh people, she said.

Referring to a recent incident near Guntur where a jilted man murdered a woman, Sucharita said the Chief Minister immediately intervened in the incident.

The deceased person’s family has been offered a financial aid of Rs 14.5 lakh and a house, she said.

Rs 25 lakh compensation to Abdul Salaam’s family, TDP cries foul

1

After TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu held the YSRCP government responsible for the police harassment that led to the suicide of Abdul Salam and his family in Nandyal, the Andhra Pradesh government on Monday stated that the guilty will not be spared.

Home Minister Mekatoti Sucharita on Monday said cases have been booked against Nandyal circle inspector Somasekhar Reddy and head constable Gangadhar under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC.

She said under the orders of the Chief Minister, DGP Gautam Sawang has initiated a thorough investigation into the issue. The Home Minister said the police already arrested the CI and a head constable in connection with the suicide of a four-member auto driver’s family due to alleged police harassment in Nandyal.

She said the DGP has directed IGP Shankha Brata Bagchi (APSP Battalions), and Guntur Additional SP Arif Hafeez, to investigate the case.
Abdul Salaam, an auto driver, his wife Noorjahan, their daughter Salma and son Dadhi Khalandar, committed suicide on November 3 by throwing themselves before a running train at Kavuluru village under the Panyam police station limits. The family took a selfie video before taking the extreme step, in which they blamed the Nandyal police for their suicide.

The Home Minister said the government will award Rs 25 lakh compensation to
Abdul Salaam’s mother-in-law, the only surviving member of the family.

Abdul, a resident of Rojakunta Street in Nandyal, worked in a jewellery shop in the town earlier. He was accused of stealing 3 kg gold from the shop recently. After recovering 500 grams of gold from his house, the police arrested Abdul and he was sent to judicial remand.

Earlier, Chandrababu Naidu had demanded that the government own up moral responsibility for the suicide pact of the family.

N M D Farooq, former MLC and ex-chairman of the AP Legislative Council, slammed the YSRCP government of persecuting the Muslims and Dalits in the state. He alleged that ever since the YSRCP rode to power atrocities against the Muslims have increased.

He demanded that the government dismiss the circle inspector and the head constable for abetting suicide of Abdul Salaam’s family. He said the government was trying to wash off its hands merely by suspending the two police officials instead of dismissing them. The Rs 25 lakh compensation announced by the government was only to water down the entire issue.

Why Sucharita speaks on behalf of ED probe?

2

AP Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita rarely talks about the law and order situation in the state. When she does, she only blames the opposition parties on some pretext or the other. Now, she is talking on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate. No authorised officer from ED has come forward to give details of the alleged ED probe into the Amaravati real estate scam.

Sucharita is saying that the ED probe is going on into the purchase of multi-crore Capital City lands by poor people who have white ration cards. The AP CID has already filed cases against these poor persons and branded them as the benamis for the top TDP leaders including Nara Lokesh and others.

YCP MP Mithun Reddy has also raised the ED cases on Amaravati land scam in the Lok Sabha also. Apparently, the YCP Ministers and MPs are continuing their all out efforts to malign Amaravati to support their Capital shifting. Their attacks started just after Lok Sabha session began and Amaravati farmers are also in Delhi to mobilise support for Capital continuation.

What’s wrong with conversions? Sucharita asks Pawan

4

AP Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita openly defended religious conversions going on right in the vicinity of the Hindu temples. She asked Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan to explain how it is constitutionally wrong to convert those willing to change their faith. Her comments triggered a fresh controversy on the very caste status of all the SC, ST Ministers and MLAs and also those categories government officials who openly support CM Jagan Reddy.

Political circles are wondering how Sucharita could boldly and publicly defend conversions when she herself gave an election affidavit saying that she was a Hindu dalit. Only because of this affidavit, she could get elected from Prathipadu SC reserved MLA seat. Already, Tadikonda MLA Vundavalli Sridevi got stuck in an Election Commission of India probe into her alleged false affidavit on her Hindu dalit status. Because of the YCP woman MLAs, new controversies are coming up on the whole issue of the actual Hindu dalits not getting the reservation benefits. In recent days, videos are circulating that some Christian organisations are illegally entering Durga temple surroundings to carry on their religious propaganda. Pawan comments on this provoked Sucharita who is getting stuck in a complication just like MLA Sridevi.

Home Minister upset over lack of expected power

0

Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita and her family members thought that they would be able to enjoy enormous power and influence in Guntur district as she got a post that is second only to Chief Minister. Naturally, they are expecting to show their power at every given opportunity. However, things are not going as expected and most affairs in the ministry are getting settled without much of their involvement. But Sucharita and her family have no other choice but to accept the ground reality and blindly follow Jagan says. Amid this, one recent incident has indeed given great pain to her. She even expressed her unhappiness against Jagan with her close followers.

The issue that disturbed the SC woman minister was that the municipal administration commissioner didn’t care to fulfil her request to stop the transfer of a town planning officer in Guntur city. Moreover, the IAS officer complained to the Chief Minister about how Sucharita and her family members are directly calling and disturbing him. Consequently, Jagan took a class for Sucharita who ever since adopted a very low profile. Jagan has gained lots of positive propaganda by appointing 5 Deputy CMs but he has not transferred enough powers to them in utter disregard for his social justice claims.

More security to Chandrababu than needed?

The YCP government argued before High Court that they are providing 74-member security to former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu while the actual requirement is only 58 men. The court was not satisfied with the argument and asked the government to file a counter affidavit. The government is also asked to specify which security personnel is posted in which location for giving security to Naidu.

The court heard the argument of Naidu’s lawyer Subba Rao who said that his security was downgraded by the present government for political reasons. This was done deliberately. He argued that Naidu served as chief minister three terms during United AP and also in residual AP. He also served as the Opposition leader.

Naidu has been facing life threat from Maoists for long. He is also facing threat from the red sander mafia gangs because of his government’s crackdown during his last term. Despite this threat perception, the government has reduced security to bare minimum. Meanwhile, Home Minister Sucharita said that there was no truth in TDP argument. She asserted that Naidu is being given Z Plus security but it would not be possible to give security to his private property. She also said that there is no possibility to give entry to opposition leaders without security check at airports.

Lokesh tweet triggers criticism from Sucharitha

0

The ruling YCP is hitting back strongly and recalling past incidents whenever TDP is talking about the attacks on its cadres. Former Minister Lokesh’s tweet on the YCP attacks has drawn flak from none other than AP Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharitha herself. She is recalling how the YCP leaders and cadres were harassed and attacked during the previous regime. Especially, MLA Roja was not allowed to enter the Assembly for no fault of hers.

Sucharita said that there was no action though a woman officer was slapped in the face during TDP regime. But now the opposition leaders are asking for explanations. The Minister also recalled the Kodi Kathi incident and said that the then government turned the blame on Jaganmohan Reddy though he was the victim in that case.

The Home Minister has said that more YCP activists were injured in the clashes that took place in the state recently. She said that only 44 TDP activists suffered injuries as against 57 activists of YCP. The ruling party ministers and leaders are continuing their counter attacks on TDP with greater force ever since the election result.
