The naturally handsome and talented actor Naga Shourya shined in a pivotal role in the recent film Oh Baby directed by Nandini Reddy. Nartanasala Audio Review – Melody Gets First Priority

Nartanasala Audio Review

Nartanasala is an upcoming romantic film starring Naga Shourya and Kashmira in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Mani Sharma’s son Sagar Mahati. The film is directed by Srinivas Chakravarthi.

The album begins with a very funky number Dekhore Sodara which has interesting sequencing and also foot tapping rhythm. Anurag Kulkarni has become adept in singing such fun songs and Sri Mani’s lyrics give an edgy touch to hero’s typical introduction songs. However, the song also has Mani Sharma’s earlier songs essence which is so evident in the interludes

Egirene Manasu has already become much popular with the single release. The song has the niceties of Raaga Suddha Dhanyasi with great vigor. Sameera Bharadwaj does a neat job in this breezy melody. Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics are quite poetic with right usage of words. The usage of fusion veena in trance beats is quite appealing. Instead of being to classy, Sameera also brings a feel of western vocals to the song. The first interlude is a fiesta of lead guitar and swift saxophone. Mahati himself sang the male portion of the song with good ease and sultry vocals. The lines “Nalone Navvestunna..Naakai Ne vethikestunna” is an impressive usage of lyrics by Bhaskarabhatla.

The album next goes to a nostalgic style with Pichi Pichi Ga sung by the talented singer Lipsika. The usage of harmonica, and minor scale progressions is quite impressive. A special mention should be made for lyricist Dharma Teja and lines like “Nijalu Daachaleni Jagalu Cherukoni” is quite good. Lipsika’s vocals speak of romance, passion and style at the same time. The string progression is also neatly done with charming rhythm.

Ila Neetho is a fresh sounding duet coupled with acoustic guitar giving it an unplugged flavour. Yazin Nizar takes the front stage with his passionate vocals. Sri Mani’s lyrics are spot on with gripping usage of words speaking of passionate love. However, he doesn’t use heavy sounding words and makes it conversational. The violin solo in the song is quite a highlight undoubtedly.

The finale occurs with a wedding number Dhol Baaje sung by Yazin Nizar once again. The song has a Rajasthani folk appeal and also a strange resemblance with Tandana Dheem Tanana from Mani Sharma’s Jai Chiranjeeva. Yazin Nizar performs this song like a cakewalk with less effort. This song brings the much needed momentum to the otherwise laid back album. The flavours of raaga Madhyamavati are neatly fused in the composition.

Verdict:

Nartanasaala is a feel good album where the melodies score more than the fast paced numbers.

Our Picks: Egirene Manasu, Pichi Pichi Ga

Mahesh Babu’s popular song inspires a movie title

0

‘Guruvaram March Okati’ from Dookudu is one of hit songs in Mahesh Babu’s career. The song phrase is now turning into a title for Naga Shourya’s next project which is going to mark a comeback of sorts for aged filmmaker Kasi Viswanath who directed films like Nuvvu Lekha Nenu Lenu and Tholichupulone.

Reportedly, Shourya has agreed to work with actor – director Viswanath for a full-length entertainer and the makers of this film have finalized Guruvaram March Okati as its title. After taking 15 years gap, Viswanath is set to wield the megaphone.

Buoyed with the success of Chalo, Shourya is currently busy with his upcoming films. So this project might go on floors later this year.

With films releasing today carrying weak reports , it has high chances to surpass 10cr mark which will be a new benchmark for Naga Shourya.

Chalo Review : Fresh & Entertaining

chalo movie review

Chalo movie review

Telugu360 Rating : 3/5

Naga Shaurya’s Chalo released amid good buzz after the impressive trailers caught the attention of everyone. Directed by debutant Venky Kudumula, the film has Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead.

Let’s see if Chalo gives much needed break to Shaurya. Here is the review :

Story :

As projected in the trailer, the plot of Chalo is set against the backdrop of perennial conflict between Telugu , Tamil speaking groups of a village in Andhra – Tamil Nadu border. The story takes place in a college which is located in Tirupuram. Naga Shaurya and Rashmika fall in love with each other. However, the feud between their villages causes strain in their relationship.

The rest of the story is how the pair reunites and brings the hostility between the two groups to an end.

Analysis :

Despite weaving a storyline with serious backdrop, the director has ensured that there is ample dose of entertainment in the film. The director has smartly chosen the college backdrop with well-etched characters for the lead roles to tickle the bones. Debutante writer director Venky K’s punch dialogues are major asset

The first half of the film proceeds at a leisure pace with decent comedy track in college scenes. Scenes with Naga Shaurya and Rashmika have come out well. The episodes involving other characters( comedian Satya) in the college episodes provide good entertainment for the audience.

However, the pace of the film slightly slows down in the second half as the scene shifts from college backdrop to the village conflict. This is when the film loses its steam and treads a familiar path. References to NTR Chiranjeevi and Allu Arjun are contextually neatly placed

Though Vennela Kishore tried to keep the comedy track intact with his funny jinks, the unexciting climax episode which brings the film to an abrupt and ludicrous end serves as a liability for the film what otherwise could have a much better film.

Performances :

Naga Shaurya did complete justice to his character. He shines effortlessly in college scenes with his sensible comedy timing and good energy levels.

Rashmika lent good support to Shaurya with her performance. She is bubbly and effervescent in comedy scenes and shows good promise as an actress.

Comedians Satya and Vennela Kishore are another big assets for this film. They played their parts very well and succeeded in tickling the bones with their funny antics. Viva Harsha and Youtube Sudarshan ( Guy with Nellore accent ) got good roles

Technical values :

Technically, the whole team deserves good credit for bringing a quality film with limited budget.

Coming to debutant director Venky Kudumula, he did a decent job with his writing skills. However, a better narration in the second half, particularly climax episode, could have made this a promising start to his career. His trivikram mark dialogues are appealing

The onscreen visuals are impressive and a couple of songs are shot very well. Cinematographer Sai Sriram once again makes a mark with his nifty work.

Music and background score given by Sagar Mahati is OK. Songs are well moulded into storyline

The production values are adequate and make up for a quality product on screen.

Positives :

  • Fresh and fun filled first half
  • A Different story
  • Two good Songs and dialogues
  • Lead pair

Negatives :

  • Poor climax , Pre- climax farce
  • Verdict :

All in all, Chalo ends up as one time easy watch with some fine performances by the entire cast and sensible direction.

The first half passes off with good comedy track and keeps the audience invested. Second half progresses OK till pre-climax but the lackluster climax episode acts as a dampener and restricts the film from reaching the next level. Vennela Kishore’s comedy track is the only saving grace for the second half.

    Jyo Achyutananda Movie Review

    0

Jyo achyutananda Review , Jo Achyutananda Review

    Telugu360 Rating:3/5

Talented actor and director Srinivas Avasarala made an interesting and impressive debut with Oohalu Gusagusaladey in the past. He is now back with his second film Jyo Achyutananda, which features young actors Nara Rohit and Naga Shourya in the lead roles. Regina Cassandra is the female lead and Kalyana Ramana composed the music. The trailer received exceptional response and raised the expectations on the film. Produced by Vaarahi Chalana Chitram, Jyo Achyutananda released all over today. Here is the complete review of the movie:

    Story:
Jyo Achyutananda is the story of two brothers Achyut (Nara Rohit), Anand (Naga Shourya) and a girl Jyosthna (Regina Cassandra) who happens to be a tenant in their home. The brothers evince interest in Jyosthna however she tricks them with a friendly reply every time the brothers try to impress her. She moves to USA for her higher studies and during this time the brothers get married to their relatives. It is after five years, Jyosthna returns back to the country and the rest of Jyo Achyutananda is all about how they react meeting their ex-girlfriend. Watch Jyo Achyutananda to know about the rest.

    Analysis:
The best thing is Srinivas Avasarala’s films is that the things get framed and presented quite naturally. The first half of the film has real fun with some stupendous one-liners throughout. The bonding between the brothers is quite natural and convincing. The songs are decent and they are placed well. The way the story is narrated looks extremely convincing. On the whole the first half of Jyo Achyutananda seemed extremely innovative and impressive.

The second half of the film is decent for the first half an hour however it takes an illogical path later. The slow pace makes the audience feel bored during the mid of the second half. Some of the episodes are dragged completely. The dialogues are the major strength of the film and the climax is decent. On the whole the second half dips down at parts but ends up decent finally.

    Performances:
Nara Rohit is impressive as Achyut and he is shown with enough variations and the actor excelled in the emotional episodes well. He revealed that he lost 11 kgs but it is not visible on screen. He looked massive in most of the episodes. Though it is tough to watch him as a solo actor, he has been decent in the role as he enacted elder brother of Shourtya. Shourya did a good job and he is the perfect choice for the role of Anand. Regina is gorgeous and her stunning screen presence and her outstanding performances needs special mention. All the other actors did their bit.

The story of the film is fresh and unique. The screenplay and the dialogues are penned well. The cinematography is the major highlight and the movie is presented in a colorful way within the availed budget. The music is decent and the background score is elevating. The editing is crips and the production values are good. Srinivas Avasarala once again comes out with a convincing feel good drama that will impress the multiplex audience big time.

    Final Word:
Jyo Achyutananda is one of the clean and fun movies in recent times. With 2 hr 5 mins crisp run time, this movie appeals to class audience. The movie would have been better if a special care has been taken on the last half an hour, which tests the patience of the audience. On commercial aspects, Jyo Achyutananda will do well across the A centres and will connect well to multiplex audience. Kudos to Srinivas Avasarala for a clean and engaging film like Jyo Achyutananda.

OKa Manasu Review : A Slow Paced Love Story

    0

    Oka Manasu Movie Review

Konidela Niharika’s debut film Oka Manasu alongside Naga Shourya is gearing up for a grand release today. After a bunch of male actors from the illustrious Mega family made their entry into Tollywood, it is now time for a Mega heroine to entertain the audience with her acting capabilities on the silver screen.

Directed by Ramaraju, Oka Manasu, is a production venture by Madhura Sreedhar and TV9.All eyes are on the young starlet and the verdict will surely be a game changer for her career. Let’s see how well Niharika did in her debut.

    Story:

Set in Vizianagaram, Oka Manasu is a love story between a two young professionals, a doctor (Niharika as Sandhya) and a politician (Naga Shourya as Surya). Rao Ramesh, who plays the role of Surya’s father, is a small time politician with an ambition to have his son succeed as an MLA. Surya is a loving, obedient son who commits to making father’s dream come true. He leads the life of a typical Telugu movie politician – negotiating settlements for money and instill fear in the people. Sandhya expresses her concerns regarding Surya’s risky life, but is in madly love with him. During a settlement, Surya kidnaps a relative of the Home Minister’s and a Dalit associate. This earns Surya jail time under the SC ST atrocity act. After he gets a temporary bail, Surya returns home and live together with Sandhya.
At this point, Surya is faced with the tough challenge to choose between Sandhya and his father. What led to this? What is Surya’s decision? How do Sandhya and his father react to this?  is the rest of the story.

    Analysis :

A clean and matured love story, Oka Manasu runs on a  concept very different from your run of the mill love stories. However, the narration is extremely (read painfully) slow. In addition to the slow narration, Director Ramaraju can also be attributed with presenting each frame as a piece of art – soulless piece of art. The beauty of Vizag and Araku is well captured by the cameraman.

Given fact that 90% of the movie is conversation between the lead pair, the dialogues should have been more effective to make the scenes engaging. But, that’s not the case. Dry and ineffective dialogues lend to the negative aspect of the movie. The first half is pathetically slow, things get a little better halfway into the second half (this is where Surya makes his decision). The movie gets better from here on, ending with a heart touching climax.

The father – son thread between Surya and his father  is well executed. The love track is superficial for most of the movie, gains a bit of substance towards the end at which point it is too late to salvage the movie.

Shourya is perfect for the role as an obedient son and an adoring lover. Debutante Niharika has done a good job.

Actress Pragathi who played the role of Niharika’s mom in the movie need special mention. Her over action, extremely bad diction in a couple of scenes is just horrendous. Her future directors should make sure they keep her in check without going overboard.

Complete lack of entertainment quotient in the movie with just a single comedy scene for Vennela Kishore. Avasarala Srinivas played regular character – not a comedy one. Rao Ramesh excelled as usual.

    Songs :

With soothing melodious music, Sunil Kashyap can be called the off screen hero. Coupled with Rama Jogayya Sastry’s good lyrics and arresting visuals, the songs are a good asset for the movie. However, we really wish that the director had used the songs with no interruption. Going the route of montage sequencing, he split the songs injecting scenes in between. ‘Ninna Lenantha’ , ‘O Manasa’ , ‘Chirugaali aagipove’ songs stand out.

    Positives :
    — Clean and a mature love story
    — Well established father-son thread
    — Sandhya’s unconditional love
    — Poetic visuals
    — Nice pre-climax and climax
    — Soothing music

    Negatives :

    — Extremely slow narration
    — Sluggish first half
    — Ineffective dialogues
    — Way too many conversational scenes between the lead pair – none making an impact

    Verdict :

Made with good intentions Oka Manasu may earn some critical acclaim for the producers, TV9 and Madhura Sreedhar, as well as for the director Ramaraju. It’s possible it could start with not so favorable talk, but with good promotions it could attract the family audience to a certain extent. Slow non substantial first half and a slightly engaging second half, make the Box Office prospects for Oka Manasu bleak.
