Actress Pranitha Subhash, who has earmarked space for herself in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films with her fine performances, on Monday announced her pregnancy on the occasion of her husband’s 34th birthday.

Taking to Instagram, Pranitha posted a series of pictures of her husband and her celebrating the news.

She wrote, “For my husband’s 34th birthday, the angels above have a present for us.”

Congratulatory messages began pouring in soon after. Several people congratulated the couple including Pony Prakash Raj, the wife of actor Prakash Raj, and producer Sashi, who owns the production house YNOT studios.

The actress wed businessman Nitin Raju at a simple ceremony that was held at her home on the outskirts of Bangalore in May 2021. The wedding was an intimate affair with only close family members and friends attending it.

Kannada beauty Pranitha Subhash has done enough number of Telugu films but she could not race to the top in the league of actresses. She played the roles of the heroine in films like Attarintiki Daredi, Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda, Rabhasa, Brahmotsavam, Hello Guru Prema Kosame and most of them flopped at the box-office. The actress tied the knot on Sunday to Nitin Raju in a private ceremony on Sunday in the presence of limited family members.

The pictures from the wedding surfaced on the social media circles but the actress is yet to make an official statement about her wedding. Pranitha is currently busy with several Kannada movies and a couple of Hindi movies Hungama 2 and Bhuj. With the pandemic lasting for months, the couple decided to get married in a closed ceremony.

Southern actress Pranitha Subhash will soon make her Bollywood debut in “Bhuj: The Pride of India”, and will also be seenin “Hungama 2”. She says the film industry is full of diverse content, adding that she will continue looking for stories that offer variety.

“I think today Bollywood has space for everyone, with different genres and stories — either on OTT or theatres. Apart from that it’s not space where you get stereotyped anymore. You can choose what you want, there are multiple types of movies. Things have diversified so much, so I am just looking for diversity and variety in my work,” Pranitha told IANS.

The actress has worked in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films, and she also runs an NGO in Bangalore, was recently awarded under Times 40 Under 40 list for her contribution as a social entrepreneur. The actress served 75,000 meals in 21 days during lockdown.

What inspires her social work? “My parents are doctors and they have been doing a lot of work for the society — be it blood donation camps, which we conduct annually in our hospital in Bangalore or it could be organ donation, eye donation campaigns. So I look at it as my duty. We did Covid relief, work relief. Mostly I have been inspired by many people in the society besides my parents,” she said.

Southern star Pranitha Subhash will hold free health check-up for almost 500 people in Bangalore on her birthday.

Pranitha, who will turn a year older on Thursday, said: “This activity is very close to my heart and it is something I am doing for the first time with my foundation. There are so many people in our country who cannot afford even a basic health check up for themselves and hence my foundation has taken this initiative and I feel what better day than my Birthday.”

The 26-year-old is all set to make her Bollywood debut in the Ajay Devgn-starrer “Bhuj: The Pride Of India”. She is known for her role in films like “Porki” and “Em Pillo Em Pillado”.

Sharing her working experience with Ajay, Pranitha added: “Ajay sir is so disciplined on sets. He is so natural when it comes to acting and the best thing about him is that as soon as the director says action, he gets into the character and gets out of it as soon as the director says cut.

“There was so much to learn from him and I feel blessed to have worked with him in my first Bollywood film.”

“Bhuj” features Ajay as IAF Wing Commander Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj airport during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. Pranitha will be seen playing his wife Usha Karnik.
