Raju Gari Gadhi 2 Worldwide Closing Collections

Raju Gari Gadhi 2 ends up it’s theatrical run with a distributor share of over 18 crores worldwide. This film had a good first weekend, dropped from Monday which was the similar trend for all October releases later.

In Telangana, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 was an own release, did collect decent distributor share of 6.25 Cr. In Andhra Pradesh, it is a loss venture for all involved parties.

In Overseas the film had performed poor right from Day One due to the genre, contrary to domestic business where atleast first weekend was good. In USA, it had collected only $325,000 gross by the end of it’s run. However, there ain’t any loss for anyone as it was an own release here.

If we consider the film as a Nagarjuna Starrer, final share is very low for his film’s calibre. But, due to the fact that producer released on their own in many big markets, losses to the distributors, exhibitors were minimized. Thus, negative impact appears minimal though it had collected less for Nagarjuna range.

Overall, the film can be termed as BELOW AVERAGE at box-office.

Promotions are playing a significant role in deciding the box office fate of any film these days. The truth is any film which has the potential to earn good revenues might underperform due to bad marketing strategies. This is what happening to the latest Tollywood release Raju Gari Gadhi 2 in overseas.

The film, which is successfully running with packed houses in Telugu states, is under performing in overseas. As Telugu360 reported earlier, poor promotions by distributors ( Producers themselves distributed in USA ) have impacted the film’s opening weekend collections to a great extent at the overseas box office.

Typically, US based distributors take promotions very seriously. They keep in constant touch with all web media portals and send several Pre release and post release press releases highlighting the positives and other selling points of the film to take it deep into audience. This is a proven strategy and films which didn’t follow this formula have often bitten the dust at the box office despite having good content.

In case of Raju Gari Gadhi 2, there is almost zero involvement of distributors in promotions. The film was released in very limited centres despite having a star cast like Nagarjuna and Samantha. Also, the film was not screened in some of the regular popular theatres which exhibit Telugu films citing payment issues. This created some confusion among the audience.

Moreover, the makers have failed to make the film known to target audience. Despite being a melodrama, which will cut across family audience, the film being projected as a horror genre film. As Nagarjuna’s films are usually lapped up by family audience, the wrong title Raju Gari Gadhi-2 , and Wrong projection has impacted the collections. In USA , family audience are particularly avert to violence or horror genre films. Makers have made little effort to convey horror content is less , Melodrama is more in this film – which would have made different with family crowds

Raju Gari Gadhi-2 took a decent start with $ 81K haul from its Thursday premiers. With good word of mouth the film is expected to perform well in the first weekend. But, going by the current run, the film might end up collecting estimated meagre $400-450K gross in full run. The share will be in the range of $150K . The expenses might cost around $70K meaning which the film will be a disaster at the overseas box-office. Distributor , in this case producer own release, may end up earning 30 to 40 Lakhs INR as per current trend. Had they sold to distributor , would have got above 3 crores ! Thus Raju Gari Gadhi-2 may end up as a self inflicted wound in USA

Did Editor Nagarjuna help or hurt Raju Gari Gadhi 2?

It is not a new thing in Tollywood that heroes involve or interfere in the direction or editing department. Most of the times young directors accept the suggestions given by these heroes because, obviously, these heroes have more experience than the directors in the industry. But some times it helps the movie and some times it actually damages the movie. Recently Nagarjuna has been involving into the technical aspects of the movie. He in fact turned editor for Naga Chaitanya’s movie “Rarandoi Veduka Chudham” that was directed by Kalyan Krishna. It actually helped the movie, as per inside sources as the original product by Kalyan Krishna was not so great.

Similarly Nag involved in Raju Gari Gadhi 2 movie too. After censor is done, Nagarjuna seemed to have edited out more than 7 min of comedy scenes. These scenes involved Shakalaka Shankar and those scenes actually came out very well. But Nag believed that these comedy scenes are a hindrance to the flow of the move. Also he believed movie will be able to attract audience with its sentimental scenes in second half. So he suggested to trim off those 7 min comedy scenes. The director and technical crew were not too happy with that suggestion but stayed mum as it was a star hero.

Now, all reviews complained about lack of comedy in the movie. So, now team thinks those comedy scenes should have been retained. May be King is getting confident in his technical skills, but might be better lo leave those to technical teams. We have to wait and see if director Omkar attempts to add those comedy scenes now.

Akkineni Mama – Kodalu, Nagarjuna and his daughter-in-law actress Samantha are receiving accolades for their commendable performances in the recently released horror drama Raju Gari Gadhi 2. It was a surprise when King Nagarjuna joined the cast of Raju Gari Gadhi 2. Though the film is not a sequel for Raju Gari Gadhi, the film is of the same genre, horror comedy. Ohmkar helmed the film and the film’s basic plot has been adopted from Malayalam blockbuster Pretham. Ohmkar did enough research and is said to have changed the complete script after he borrowed the plot. Nag never knew about Samantha being roped and he never suggested her name revealed Ohmkar. “Samantha’s role was not a part of the original and I penned her character around which the story revolves. I have re-written some of the episodes after Samantha has been brought on to the board. October is very special month for me: Nagarjuna

Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna says the month of October is special for two reasons — his son Naga Chaitanya is getting married and the his forthcoming Telugu horror-thriller “Raju Gari Gadhi 2”, in which he plays a mentalist, is set for release.

Chaitanya is marrying actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Friday in Goa.

“This is a very special month for me. My son is getting married and our families can’t be happier. It’s going to be a very simple wedding with just about 100 guests. The first ceremony will take place on Friday and the second one on Saturday,” Nagarjuna told IANS.

He confirmed that the reception will take place in Hyderabad. However, the date is yet to be finalized.

“Both of them will be busy with their film commitments even after the wedding. As per their convenience, we will finalise the date for reception and announce soon,” he said.

Nagarjuna, on the other hand, is excited for “Raju Gari Gadhi 2”, due for release this Diwali.

“When the director narrated the subject, I immediately said ‘yes’ to this project, because I always believe in supernatural power. However, this is not only a horror or comedy film. It’s a family drama and emotions will work across audiences of all age groups,” he said.

In the film, directed by Ohmkar, Nagarjuna’s character has a relationship with a soul and can talk to her.

Interestingly, “Raju Gari Gadhi 2” also stars Samantha, his future daughter-in-law.

Nagarjuna said he didn’t suggest her name for the project.

“People thought I wanted her to be cast. That’s not true. I didn’t recommend her. In fact, I didn’t want to see her play a ghost right before marriage,” he added.

You sound quite busy this year?

Yeah, this year kept me completely hectic. Produced two films already this year and I wrapped up the shoot of Raju Gari Gadhi 2. I am busy now with the marriage arrangements of Naga Chaitanya. Looking of the production responsibilities of Akhil’s Hello.

Updates about Raju Gari Gadhi 2?

Raju Gari Gadhi 2 has no connection with Raju Gari Gadhi. This is not a sequel and we are testing our luck with a fresh script. But the genre is same and hence we are using the title Raju Gari Gadhi 2. I loved my characterization because of which I signed the movie. I can read any person after speaking to him for ten minutes and this makes the film quite interesting. I met such people in real life too.

Please tell us about the character of Samantha?

Samantha will be playing a ghost in Raju Gari Gadhi 2. Both our characters have been well designed in the movie and I thank Omkhar for that.

We hear that it was you who titled Akhil’s next film ‘Hello’?

The whole movie unit has been left confused about the film’s title and I felt that Hello would be an apt one. I immediately registered the title and the word Hello has an interesting connection with the plot. You will come to know about it after you watch the film.

Tell us about Hello?

Hello is an interesting film and it has a complicated. We are shooting for the film in never seen locales and the treatment will be completely fresh. Vikram is one of the most talented directors we have. We are spending a lot for Hello.

Your call on Yuddham Saranam

I watched the film recently and it is completely based on social media. Yuddham Saranam will stand as a milestone in Chaitu’s career.

This year has been completely impressive for Tollywood. What do you say?

This year has been great for Tollywood. The audience have been supporting many impressive films. Hearing big things about Arjun Reddy. Will watch the film for sure soon.

There are talks that you are remaking Vikram Vedha?

I heard many good things about Vikram Vedha. Yet to watch the film.

Did you sign any new films?

I have not signed any new film. Kalyan Krishna is yet to narrate the plot of ‘Bangarraju’. I am eagerly waiting to take a call on this.

Young actors have been quite successful as television hosts. What do u say?

Television is the best way to become close to all the sections of audience. That is the reason why I did Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu. I loved Tarak’s way of hosting Bigg Boss show. He is the same how I saw him in real life. His real character is visible in Bigg Boss.
