Rudrama Devi director now crossing swords with Jeevitha

0

Director Gunasekhar who directed the movie Rudrama devi has been expressing his displeasure for not getting Nandi awards for his movie. Earlier, he wrote an open letter questioning CM’s decision of not granting tax exemption to his film. After Nandi awards were announced, he questioned why Rudrama Devi movie, which speaks about women empowerment was not considered for any of the first, second and third best films. For this question Jeevitha in the capacity of Jury member responded.

She responded – “We received Baahubali as well as Rudramadevi movies for the awards in the same year and both the films belong to same genre. So in the process of accommodating films of all genres, we could not give many awards (Telugu360: It is actually wrong on part of Jeevitha to say Baahubali and Rudramadevi belong to same genre. Obviously she could not differentiate the genres of historic films against the genre of folklore – Rudramadevi belongs to first and Baahubali belongs to second genre respectively).” She also responded on Gunasekhar’s question on – “Why Allu Arjun was given best character award instead of best supporting actor award”. She told, the award that was announced to Allu Arjun is called “SV Ranga Rao best character award” and he should be proud to receive that award, at least that’s what we, the jury members, had believed.

Now Gunasekhar responded to Jeevitha’s statements. He told, immediately after announcing awards, she praised Chandra Babu Naidu and his ruling. When asked by journos if she would join TDP she replied, yes, if you want. So Jeevitha lost her credibility by supporting to one political party. It is wrong to accommodate such people (film people expecting political benefits) into the jury. He also said regarding Allu Arjun’s award, jury can not change the category themselves. They have to examine the deservingness of the candidate only for the category for which he was nominated.

It seems this Nandi awards debate is going to continue for few more days!!!

Gunasekhar’s upcoming prestigious project Rudramadevi is the talk of the industry for quite some time. As ‘Baahubali – The Beginning ’ was the last period film which was released massively and was critically acclaimed worldwide. It has broke and created a number of records in the India film industry. With Rudramadevi coming in the same lines, industry bigwigs, trade analysts and common audience are all started comparing the film to Rajamouli’s magnum opus project.

Like Baahubali, Rudramadevi too is getting released in other languages including Hindi,Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. This epic film too has huge star cast in the form of Anushka, Rana, Allu Arjun and Krishnam Raju among others. The film’s trailers and posters have all increased the curiosity among film lovers and the film is all set for a massive release on October 09. In almost all aspects right from technical aspects to business, the film will definitely be gauged in par with Baahubali.

However, director Gunasekhar who is also producing the film is confident of his product and has pinned high hopes on it.

The film’s soundtrack and background score were composed by maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Rudramadevi based on the life of Rudrama Devi one of the prominent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty will also be released in 3D. Though the pre-release business is good, we have to wait for another few days to know the fate of the film.

0

After Hollywood flicks such as Godfather, Rocky and Gods Must be Crazy were made into series with three to four sequels, this sequel culture crawled into other industries too.

However, it entered the most happening Tamil industry (Kollywood in other words) only with Singam. Thanks to writer-director Hari for trying his hands at sequels. Released in 2010, Singam was a block buster bonanza. Three years later, he hid the screens with sequel—Singam 2 that rocked at the box office thought it opened to rave reviews.

Now, Hari is gearing up for enticing Suriya’s hysteric fans with yet another sequel, the third one in this series, Singam 3. If buzz has to be believed, the shooting is likely to   commence this September and will hit the theatres by Pongal/Sankranti.

While Suriya is the protagonist in Singam, Anushka ( who recently completed shooting Gunasekhar’s Rudramadevi movie) appears in female lead role. The sequel, however, had Hansika in a key role. Lets wait and watch who all will be roped up in this sequel to Singham 2.
