    0

Domestic Box-Office Preview : Goodachari Eyes To Dominate The Weekend Race

Seven films, All being Straight ones, will hit the theatres this weekend (Aug 3rd – Aug 5th), out of which Goodachari, Chi La Sow and Brand Babu have sort of awareness while the others will find tough to find any audience.

Chi La Sow on the other hand is sure to take the second place and has chances to give tough competition for first place if the reports come out better than Goodachari. The film is releasing in 230 Locations which is less than the other film and that’s why it’s needs a much better word of mouth to come on the top. All India theatricals of the film are valued for at least 3 Crores.

Brand Babu, which is Sumanth Shailendra’s Debut film as a hero in Tollywood, will come out in the third place unless things go completely wrong. The film is having a good release size of 190 odd locations. Popular director Maruthi has provided the story for this film.

Holdovers like Saakshyam and RX 100 will complete the Top Five List.

Saakshyam has a decent First weekend with worldwide distributor share of over 8 Cr. 0

Distributors have recovered 25 to 30 percent of their investments so far. Now it has to hold well on weekdays to achieve a respectable status.

It has collected a distributor share of 45-50 lakhs for 2 days in the domestic markets. Adding to these ,the film is carrying 61% rating on BMS which means the reports are not in favour for it to sustain.

RX 100 : The film has continued to rake some minimal shares adding to it’s Blockbuster run. Cumulative share of the film for 18 days has neared 10.50 Cr mark in Domestic Markets.

US box office : Poor show by Happy Wedding and Saakshyam

Telugu films continue to fall flat at US box office. The dull phase has been extended by another week despite new releases.

Both Happy Wedding and Saakshyam couldn’t excite overseas audience and failed to make an impact at the box office. Saakshyam fared better than Happy Wedding in the just concluded weekend.

Saakshyam collected $ 43K and 31K on Friday and Saturday respectively. With Sunday’s $ 9K ( as of this writing), the film has ended the first weekend on a poor note. The presence of mass elements and weak narration have impacted the film’s run in overseas.

Happy Wedding had a disastrous first weekend with $ 12K and $ 13K on Friday and Saturday respectively. On Sunday, the film has collected close to $ 5K and is heading towards becoming a huge box office dud.

Box-Office Update : Happy Wedding Opens Poor, Saakshyam Decent on Day Two

Happy Wedding has taken poor openings in Telugu States with an estimated distributor share of 20 lakhs(based on percent basis). The film has very dull collections all over with no growth in Evening/Night Shows which should be there for these type of films which are aimed mostly at A centre audience. Reports are very mixed for the film.

Saakshyam has a decent day two in Telugu States with distributor share estimated in the range of 1.7-1.75 Crores. The hold is in the range of 60-65 percent of Day One (excluding hires) which is decent. The film is doing well in B,C centres. Going by all these, it should show good growth today.

    Saakshyam 1st day Collections

Saakshyam has taken decent openings in Telugu States with a distributor share of over 3 Crores. This is the third highest Day One Share for the hero behind Jaya Janaki Nayaka (3.28 Cr) & Alludu Seenu (3.27 Cr). The film has lost some collections due to delay/cancellation in Noon shows at some places. Saakshyam Review: Routine Revenge Drama

    Saakshyam review, Saakshyam movie review

    Telugu360 Rating 2.5/5

    Story:

Vishwa (Bellamkonda Sreenivas) is son of a businessman in New York and also runs a company that is into video games. He falls for the charms of Soundarya Lahari (Pooja Hegde) who comes to New York to stay at her sister’s house for some time. She gives spiritual speeches in the temple there. A small misunderstanding separates them and she leaves for India. He follows her to India. Meanwhile, Munu Swamy(Jagapathi Babu) and his three brothers who deal with illegal businesses and mining contracts face problems. First one brother is killed by Vishwa, next another one. Vishwa does not know that there is link to these happenings with his past. What is that?

    Analysis:

‘Saakshyam’, director Sri Wass’s first big-budgeted graphical extravaganza, begins on an interesting note. ‘Saakshyam’ begins much like ‘Baahubali’ with a woman is trying to save baby boy as killings are happening in her home. In ‘Baahubali’, Ramya Krishna saves baby boy swimming through a river and the boy is saved by a tribal couple and he is raised as their son. Here in ‘Saakshyam’, Sharat Kumar and his entire family is perished and his wife Meena ties the baby boy to a calf to save their son and the calf throws the baby into a lorry and the lorry reaches to Benaras and is adopted by rich people. So, the beginning of ‘Saakshyam’ sets right mood. No wonder then that in pre-release interviews, hero Bellamkonda Sai described the film as mini-Baahubali. Well, the comparisons end there.

The team of ‘Saakshyam’ might have wanted to make another ‘Baahubali’ but the movie’s director doesn’t have such skill set which is evident after the flashback in the beginning. Soon after the boy is saved, the story cuts to current time in New York and we get to see typical mass hero-introduction. Later the movie runs into regular style of boy running after girl and songs. The entire first half is based on this love track which is quite boring. Second half happens in India and the real point of the movie comes here. Post-interval it begins to look interesting and engaging as killings of main villains happen with the elements of pancha boothalu but it soon drifts into regular pattern.

In the crucial climax portions, it comes crashing down. Director Sri Wass’s lack of writing gripping screenplay skills is the real villain here.

Technical and production values are of superior quality. The film is shot extensively in exotic locations in various countries in tune with the theme of nature’s five elements and the cinematography is first rate. The visual effects are neat. The film’s major strength are grand visuals and production values.

The background score is quite good but the songs are not impressive. Action stunts are equally good. Editing could have been tighter at places and should have been smoother. Two hour forty minutes of runtime is too lengthy for this storyline.

    Performances:

Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas has improved his acting skills better compared to his previous movies. Yet he has still long way to go to impress on performance alone. He is fit as fiddle for the role that he has played, shown his mark in action sequences. Pooja Hegde, the glamour queen of Tollywood, is seen here as eye-candy.

Jagapathi Babu as the menacing main villain is just okay Sharath Kumar as hero’s father appears for brief time. Ravi Kishan, Ashutosh Rana and other host of actors have done typical roles, nothing much to write about. Vennela Kishore as hero’s friend is okay. Lyricist Anantha Sriram gets important role.

    Positives:

    • Concept of pancha boothalu
    • Grand locations and visuals
    • Action set pieces

    Negatives:

    • Inconsistent narration
    • Boring love track
    • Uninspiring music
    • Way too lengthy
    • Cardboard performances

    Verdict:

“Saakshyam” is a regular action drama with the elements of revenge but the theme of pancha boothalu has added some newness. However, beyond the visuals and action set pieces, it doesn’t offer anything new. Moreover, the songs are boring and the romantic track tests the patience. The unconvincing narration regarding pancha boothalu also leaves us disappointed. Overall, this one is costly routine revenge drama aimed for mass audiences.

    Saakshyam Release Delayed

Bellamkonda Sreenivas is one actor who is busy with back to back big budget films irrespective of the result of his films. Right from his debut film Alludu Seenu, all his movies have been made on massive budgets and none of his films ended up recovering their budgets. His father and veteran producer Bellamkonda Suresh is said to have been investing in his films along with other producers who have been producing his films. Sreenivas is all set to test his luck with Saakshyam which has been slated for release today. The film’s pre-release business has been decent but the makers are yet to recover their investments and the film should perform exceptional to end up as a safe project.

The digital content is yet to reach the theatres because of which the morning shows across the Telugu states have been cancelled. The makers cancelled the USA premieres yesterday and the exhibitors have been informed that the content would be available from 3 AM today. But the latest news is that all the morning shows are cancelled due to the delay in uploading the digital content . The 8.45 AM show in PRASADS IMAX has been cancelled all the patrons have been informed that the amount would be refunded in 10 working days.

Generally the content would be uploaded a day before the release and the digital key will be sent to the desired screens prior to the morning shows. But things have been completely different with Saakshyam and the digital content is yet to be uploaded. Made on a massive budget of Rs 40 crores, the buyers and the makers would be losing big through the cancelled morning shows.

Directed by Sriwass, Saakshyam features Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. Abhishek Pictures bankrolled this super natural film.

Domestic Box-Office Preview : Saakshaym To Lead The Weekend’s Race

Seven films, inclusive of two dubbed ones, will hit the theatres this weekend, out of which, Saakshyam and Happy Wedding have sort of awareness while the others will find tough to find any audience. Among the dubbed titles, Mohini will be having a wider release whereas Mission Impossible: Fallout will be limited to DCI Screens only.

Saakshyam will be the top film during the weekend, with the film looking to record career best numbers for Bellamkonda Sreenivas bettering Jaya Janaki Nayaka opening day of ₹3.28 crores share in Telugu States and weekend numbers of Alludu Seenu ₹9 crores domestic share. However that won’t be of much help as Theatrical rights are valued at more than ₹25 crores until unless audience reports are favourable.

In second place, It will be a close race between Mohini & Happy Wedding, despite the latter releasing on unconventional Saturday. Mohini will be benefited from a more appealing genre, wider release and of-course an additional day. Both films don’t have much buzz and will be relying upon the word of mouth to put some sort of performance.

Mission Impossible: Fallout looks the best among new release, with extraordinary pre release reports and critics going mad with 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. That said the English version of film will open to excellent numbers in Hyderabad and other premium centres. Previous film in franchise was affected in Telugu market due to release of Srimanthudu, this one can do good business.

Tollywood is experiencing a dull phase at US box office as all recent films failed to make an impact. Disappointed with the string of duds in the last few weeks, trade circles are now betting big on upcoming films which are carrying good expectations among audience.

This week, two prominent films are gearing up for release. Young hero Bellamkonda Srinivas’ Saakshyam and Sumanth Aswin, Niharika starrer Happy Wedding have created decent buzz with their impressive trailers and teasers.

Next week, two medium budget films are going to vie at box office. Brand Babu, which is backed by successful director Maruthi, and Chi La Sow, which got the support from Annapurna Studios, caught the attention of audience with their strong promotions.

Nithiin’s Srinivasa Kalyanam and Vijay Devarakonda’s Geetha Govindam are the most awaited films this season and they are releasing in a gap of one week. Both these films have already generated a lot of curiosity among audience with their superb teasers.

After a series of flops, trade circles are hoping that these upcoming films will cheer them up with their good run at US box office.
