Sai Dharamtej signs a film for Geetha Arts

Supreme Star Sai Dharamtej is eagerly waiting to bounce back after a series of debacles. The actor wrapped up the shoot of Jawan which has been slated for September release. BVS Ravi is the director and Tej will be seen essaying a crucial role in Krishna Vamsi’s Nakshatram which will release in August. Sai Dharamtej is all set to team up with VV Vinayak for his next film which will be launched on August 9th. The movie will complete shoot and will hit the screens during the first quarter of 2018.

The latest news we hear is that Tej gave his nod for a film which will be bankrolled by Allu Aravind on Geetha Arts. Young director Maruthi will direct the movie and it has been titled Mahanagaram lo Mayagadu.The movie will start rolling early next year informed the makers. Maruthi has been in plans to work with Geetha Arts from the past few years and for the first time he is directing Sai Dharamtej in his career. Maruthi is busy wrapping Sharwanand’s Mahanubavudu which will release during October.

Energetic Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej teamed up with writer – director BVS Ravi for an interesting film titled Jaawan which is set against a military backdrop. After shooting extensively in abroad, the unit is back in Hyderabad to wrap up the remaining portion of the film.

The latest update reveals that the film will be wrapped up by the end of this month. The post production activities are in full swing and the makers are planning to release the film in August/September. Jawaan is about a gritty youngster who places society above family.

Happening beauty Mehreen Prizada is playing the film’s leading lady. Tamil actor Prasanna is playing the prime antagonist in the film. SS Thaman is composing the soundtrack.

Have slightly innovated with ‘Jawaan’: Sai Dharam Tej

Actor Sai Dharam Tej is kicked about the upcoming Telugu action-drama “Jawaan” because it gave him an opportunity to slightly innovate within the commercial space.

The project marks the first-time collaboration between Tej and director B.V.S. Ravi.

“I’m really happy with the way ‘Jawaan’ has shaped up. Although it’s a commercial action film, we have tried something different, something innovative and I’m hopeful audiences will like it,” Tej told IANS, heaping praise on his director.

The film marks Ravi’s return to direction after six years.

On teaming up with him, Tej said: “He is someone who is very clear about what he wants. I really liked the way he handled my characterization. I play a guy who has to choose between his nation and family and the events that lead up to it are very engaging.”

Tej clarified he doesn’t play an army officer.

The film also stars Mehreen Pirzada and Prasanna.

Asked if Ravi’s track record didn’t concern him, Tej said: “I also have two flops. I don’t see the track record of a director. What’s important is whether a director will be able to do justice to a story or not. It also has to be seen if audiences will accept that story.”

To play his part in “Jawaan”, Tej had to shed some weight and look fitter.

“There wasn’t any major makeover. I had to lose some weight to look fit and tough. The action sequences will be one of the film’s biggest highlights,” he said.

Did Nakshatram Trailer Scare Distributors?

Teasers and Trailers are expected to create hype on films and attract buyers to invest. For ex. after the release of teaser of Pawan Kalyan’s “Katamarayudu”, a film with zero buzz until then, buyers stood in queue to acquire the rights. Such is the potential of a 1-2 minute promo material. In contrast, sometimes the trailers do so much damage that audience as well as buyers lose interest in films. Veteran director Krishna Vamsi’s upcoming film ‘Nakshatram’ unfortunately falls in the second category.

Despite Vamsi’s dubious track record in the recent past, people had decent expectations from ‘Nakshatram’. He pulled a sort of casting coup by roping in the likes of Sai Dharam Tej, Sundeep Kishan, Regina, Pragya Jaiswal, Shriya, Prakash Raj etc. and managed to evoke curiosity on the project. Fans of Vamsi even assumed that he was making another ‘Khadgam’. Some buyers were interested to grab the film’s rights by shelling out decent prices. Well, this is the story before the release of the film’s trailer.

Once the ‘Loud & Low-quality’ trailer was of Nakshatram had been released, the scene reversed completely. Vamsi’s mark was seen only in the ‘erotically’ filmed songs. After witnessing the response of movie lovers to this shabby trailer, the once-interested buyers have now allegedly backed off. Makers have yet to announce the film’s release date as the theatrical rights are yet to be sold.

Unless Krishna Vamsi cuts a second trailer and hopefully doesn’t scare buyers and film buffs with it, Nakshatram may lie in cans for indefinite time. Own release is another option, but the producer needs immense guts for that.

Sai Dharam Tej worked in ‘Nakshatram’ for free

Actor Sai Dharam Tej, who will be seen in a cameo in filmmaker Krishna Vamsi’s upcoming Telugu action-thriller “Nakshatram”, play his part for free out of his love and respect for the director.

“Since it was a cameo and was something that got Sai really excited, he did not charge any fee for it. Krishna Vamsi went out of his way and thanked him for the gesture,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

In the film, Tej will be seen in a 20-minute cameo. He plays a police officer called Alexander.

On working with Krishna Vamsi, Tej said in a statement: “I really enjoyed working with him; he taught me a lot. It is one experience that I would cherish throughout my career. I want to thank him for giving me this opportunity.”

The film, slated for release in August, also stars Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra and Pragya Jaiswal.

Tej is currently busy dubbing for his upcoming Telugu actioner “Jawaan”.

Manchu Manoj to give 10% of each film’s earnings to farmer-initiative

Actor Manchu Manoj will give 10 per cent of each films earnings to the ‘Save the Farmers initiative to provide relief to Indian farmers.

He has started ‘Manoj Kumar’s Unity’ in order to collect funds for the development of farmers in India. The foundation started an initiative called ‘Save the Farmers’. Its basic aim is to get more and more people to donate a day of their annual salary to the farmers.

He has nominated five people for the initiative. They are politician K.T.R. (Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi), filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, actors Rana Daggubati and Sai Dharam Tej and entrepreneur G.V. Keshav.

Manchu, known for Telugu films like “Bindaas” and “Jhummandi Naadam”, said in a statement: “The farmers in India are the ones feeding us. It is our duty and responsibility to feed them.”

“I know that farmers won’t accept any donations or giving money won’t suffice. Money raised will be used for the welfare and betterment of farmers. The money will be used to create a robust system for farmers for soil testing and to sell the crop at a better price in the market.”

“The money will be used to provide families a better standard of living, proper education for their children, restoring water bodies and providing farm equipment,” he added.

An actor named Chiranjeevi rose to become a legend called Megastar because he entertained and received adulation of audiences of all tastes and genres by doing variety of films. He didn’t stick to mass films despite he his mass image. Before becoming the demigod of masses, Pawan Kalyan has also won class audiences with films like Tholi Prema, Khushi etc.

Coming to young generation Mega heroes, Allu Arjun has also done mostly romantic and family entertainers before shifting gears to mass genre. After scoring hits initially with commercial template films and then endangering his career with back to back duds, Ram Charan resurrected his career with experimental films such as Dhruva and projects with Sukmar and Mani Ratnam.

It looks like Sai Dharam Tej too has finally opened his eyes. The Mega nephew has craved for mas image right from hiss debut film. Although the entertainment factor saved his first few films, the recent back to back disasters – Thikka and Winner probably changed his mind and prompted him to do class films. In his effort for an image makeover, the young hero is now teaming up with director Karunakaran, a specialist in dealing love stories.

Tej’s intent is right but Karunakaran is not the same potential director that he once used to be. His last two films – Endukante Premanta and Chinnadana Neekosam couldn’t justify the promise he had shown in his hey days. Let’s wait and see if the duo can surprise everyone.

Sankranthi release Shathamanam Bhavati not only minted solid revenues but also won national award in Best Popular Film category. The film’s director Satish Vegesna has bagged many accolades for his clean slate narration. He is once again scripting a family drama and has already registered Srinivas Kalyanam title under Dil Raju’s banner.

According to the latest update, Satish has approached Sai Dharam Tej recently for this film. It is learnt that Sai is impressed with the script and sounded optimistic about signing the project. However, an official confirmation will be out only once he signs the dotted line. The Subramanyam For Sale actor is currently busy shooting for BVS Ravi’s Jawan.

Dil Raju is also busy producing multiple projects which are in different stages of production. A clearer picture about the casting of Srinivas Kalyanam will be out very soon.

Story :

Aditya ( Sai Dharam Tej) and Anjali ( Larissa Bonesi) meet each other in an accident in which their vehicles collide. Aditya falls in love with Anjali at the first sight, but the latter rejects him initially. After couple of interactions Anjali also falls in love with Aditya. Things change when she realizes that he is not a serious guy. She comes to know that he is silly and nonchalant person who doesn’t care much about relations. Pissed off with his uncaring attitude, she breaks the relation with him.

In parallel, another lady Mannara Chopra is in deep love with Aditya and wants him so badly that she even attacks him for not loving her.

Also, a few other silly stories are simultaneously narrated. Aditya’s father ( Rajendra Prasad) and Kamala ( VJ Boni) are in love with each other. Kamala is a drug junkie and this couple meets each other in a rehabilitation center.

Sadhu (Ajay) gang tries to kidnap Kamala, who is the daughter of his friend. On the other side, Raghu Babu’s gang tries to kidnap Anjali. Due to the mistaken identities, both kidnappers and victims get jumbled across.

Rest of the story is how Aditya rescues the ladies from kidnappers.

Analysis:

It is evident from the first scene that the prime intention of the director is to make a nonstop comedy genre movie on the lines of Hollywood movie Hangover and some recent Bollywood comedies. In such attempt, director Sunil Reddy and script writer G. Shake Dawood delivered a blooper. Through the film, it was a torture for audience who struggle to figure out what is happening on screen. The screenplay is utterly awful and there is no humor to keep the audience entertained.

None of the characters are properly been etched. Especially, senior hero Rajendra Prasad character is a big shame for his stature. With his ridiculous costumes, hairstyle and shoddy makeup, he looked so irritating throughout the movie. Similarly, comedian Ali too, with his atrocious looking wig and makeup, appear a cheapjack in the film.

Sai Dharam Teja, who has shown a lot of ease and dedication in his previous films, is expressionless or emoted odd expressions in many scenes. It is better we talk as less as possible about the heroines. They hardly have any role in this chaotic drama and they neither know the basics of acting.

Songs:

Hello Hai and Tikka Tikka songs are picturized in trendy manner and these two songs looked ok on screen. Music director Thaman appeared in Hello Hai song. Dirty picture is an item song aimed at masses. Other songs doesn’t make any impression, ends up as filler songs.

Positives:

  • Nothing much to say about the positives. Only the two songs are a matter of relief for the audience.

Negatives:

  • Lack of comedy
  • Rajendra prasad and Ali characters
  • Bad performances by all cast
  • Confused direction and poor narration
  • And rest everything else is too bad

Verdict:

Thikka movie’s first half is bad and second half is worse. This movie is one such movie where everything has gone awry. Sai Dharam Tej should be very cautious about his story selection at this point of his career . At Box-office, this movie may have some revenue till first weekend in India. At overseas Box-office , Thikka will end up as one of the lowest grossers in recent years.

Mega hero ‘Sai Dharam Tej’ who scored consecutive hits at the box office, is pretty confident about a hit once again with ‘Supreme’. Coming from Dil Raju’s production house, directed by the “Pataas” fame ‘Anil Ravipudi’, with a remix of Chiranjeevi’s popular “Andam Hindolam…” song , ‘Supreme’ movie has generated decent pre-release buzz at box-office. Let us see how this movie has shaped up finally:

Story : Jagruthi Trust, located in Anantapuram , has few thousands of acres of land registered for it and has virtually no apparent heir. The livelihood of 15,000 people is dependent on these trust lands. In such a situation, politically influential millionaire ‘Vikram Sarkar’ (Kabir Duhan Singh) eyes on Jagruthi trust, and with the help of forged documents he is able to convince the courts to deliver ruling that trust belongs to him. However, based on the counter request made by the trustee (Sai Kumar), court rules that , if trustee could find and present the heir within 30 days, then ruling will go against Vikram Sarkar. Rest of the story is how the real heir (a kid) is found and brought to the court, with the help of a taxi driver ( Sai Dharam Tej).

Analysis: This movie has a thin story line, primarily a treatment oriented movie. The story theme is revealed in beginning of the movie, and right after the introduction episodes, the audience can easily predict the story of the film. There are no twists or so called bangs, rather it is a pretty straight forward movie. But Anil Ravipudi has been very successful in engaging the audience with his witty treatment and racy screenplay. ‘Sai Dharam Tej’ , who resembles young Chiranjeevi in looks, has ease in action and he is good in dances as well. Supreme is one movie which is surely going to increase the market of Sai Dharam Tej in tollywood. He never looks new to the camera and acts  like a seasoned artist.

Raashi Khanna is glamorous even in the cop uniform. She portrayed the role of S.I. Bellam Sridevi, which came out well. She has been pretty impressive in this role and she has done a complete justice to her character in the film. Vennela Kishore who is doing pretty good roles in the recent times has once again entertained the audience with his mark comedy. Posani, Srinivasa Reddy, JP, Prudhvi , Prabhas Srinu and a new entry as villain Bhikku’s side kick ‘Jenny’ are also  pretty impressive in their roles. Jenny’s characterization is quite hilarious and has generated some laughs at the right time. Comedy scenes are not great, but definitely enjoyable. ‘Rajendra Prasad’ who is seen as Sai Dharam Teja’s father has given a decent performance and the Kid who played as ‘Rajan’( nickname) is cute and performed well.

Sentiments scenes are just ok. There is a forced sentiment here and there in the film which has not worked out properly. ‘Shruti Sodhi’ of ‘Pataas’ fame did a special song in this film which has come out quite well. Music by ‘Sai Karthik’ is just average and the songs are quite good to watch. Order in the movie: Taxi Wala, Bellam Sridevi, ChalO ChalO, Anjaneyudu Nee vadu, Andam Hindolam. Production values by Dil Raju is one of the biggest asset of the film..

Producer spent lavishly on songs and action sequences which are touted to be one of the major highlights of the film.

Verdict: Both halfs are equally  entertaining, Supreme movie is a decent watch. If you liked ‘Pataas’ movie, then this movie also will satisfy you. As upcoming two big movies ‘A Aa’ and ‘ Brahmotsavam’ cater to the class audience, there won’t be any competition for SUPREME in mass segment this summer. Supreme might end up as a decent grosser at the domestic box office.

Mega hero to play a cab driver in his next

Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej, who scored back to back hits, is currently shooting for his next film, Tikka, in Sunil Reddy’s direction. Apart from Tikka, Sai Dharam Tej also signed a film in Pataas fame Anil Ravipudi’s direction. Titled Supreme, the film is being produced by Dil Raju.

The regular shooting of ‘Supreme’ kick started today morning in Hyderabad. It is learnt that Sai will be playing the role of a cab driver in the film. Rashi Khanna, the female lead, is essaying the role of a cop. This is the third film for Sai Dharam Tej under Dil Raju production.

The unit is planning to wrap up the film by February. Sai Karthik is the music director for the film.

Promising young Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej’s next project in the direction of Pataas fame Anil Ravipudi will be officially launched tomorrow in Hyderabad. The film, which is titled ‘Supreme – Don’t Sound Horn’, will be produced by successful producer Dil Raju on his Sri Venkateshwara Creations banner.

The regular shooting of the film will commence from October 5th. Happening starlet Rashi Khanna is confirmed as the film’s leading lady. Touted to be a commercial entertainer, this is the third film for Sai in Dil Raju production. Earlier, they teamed up for Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham and the second film, ‘Subramanyam For Sale’, is gearing up for a grand release on 24th of this month. Harish Shankar is the director for the film.

Sai Dharam Tej is currently shooting for Sunil Reddy’s ‘Tikka’. The regular shooting of the film is progressing in Hyderabad. Larissa Bonesi is the heroine in the film.
