Srinivasa kalyanam has ended up its run worldwide with a distributor share of close to 13 Crores. The film is a huge disaster as distributors have faced huge losses ranging from 50 to 65 percent. Even the worldwide recovery is worse as the theatrical rights of the film are valued at 27.50 Cr and it has recovered only 45 percent of the investments. This is a Hat-trick disaster for the hero Nithiin with previous two being Lie & Chal Mohan Ranga. The film has performed better in Nizam & Uttarandhra areas compared to other areas where the producer has released the film on his own.

The film has collected an estimated distributor share of 50-55 lakhs on it’s 5th day in Telugu States which is disastrous for the film which had a below par weekend. Cumulative Share of the film in Telugu States stands at 8.90 Cr against the valued theatricals of 22 Cr. The film will finish it’s first week with share in the range of 11.50-12 Cr as it has an advantage of Independence day falling on the 6th day of it’s first week.

The film has showed some growth on Saturday and Sunday in Domestic Markets but that couldn’t change the overall prospects as cummulative total is at low levels. On the other side it’s a Disaster in Overseas with a gross of 210 thousand Dollars in USA where it will just recover the expenses. Worldwide theatricals of the film are valued at 27.5 Cr which tallies to a recovery of just 35 percent. Now the film has to do very well on weekdays to achieve a respectable status which is a bit unlikely looking at the weekend trend.

Domestic Weekend Report: New Releases Disastrous to Below Par, Goodachari emerges Hit

It was a Mixed weekend at the Domestic Box-Office with New Releases doing Poor to Below Par Business while the Holdover Goodachari emerges as a Hit.

Srinivasa Kalyanam : After having a Below Par Day One with 2.93 Cr domestic share, the film has dropped on Friday, has shown some growth on Saturday & Sunday which was not even uniform across all areas. It has collected an estimated share of 5.95 Cr over the weekend taking 4 days total to 8.90 Cr approx. Below Par !

Vishwaroopam2 : After a very average opening on Friday with 77 lakhs share, the film has dropped badly on Saturday (over 60% down from Friday in some areas) and went down further on Sunday which is worse. It has collected an estimated distributor in the range of 1.5-1.55 Cr in Telugu States against the valued theatricals of 5.5 Cr which tallies to less than 30 percent recovery. The film will find it very hard to sustain on weekdays. Disastrous !

Goodachari : As expected the film has emerged as a Hit with all area buyers entering into safe zone. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 1.25 Cr share over the weekend taking 10 days total to 6.35 Cr. Now the film eyes to emerge as a Super Hit which is certain to happen with a big national holiday during mid week. Hit !

Chi La Sow : The film has continued it’s poor run with very minimal shares over the weekend. 10 days total share of the film is in the range of 1.65-1.70 Cr against the valued theatricals of 3 Cr which means a Disaster!

Saakshyam : The film is still feeding some theatres mainly in some mass centres and is on the verge of its Closing. Cummulative share of the film is up at 11.50 Cr against theatricals of 25 Cr. DISASTER !

The film has collected an estimated distributor share of 1.55 Crores on it’s day two taking two days total to 4.30 Cr approx. The drop is more than 40 percent from opening day which is more the film which didn’t take a reasonable opening atleast. Domestic Weekly report : Goodachari Emerges Success, Others Disappoint

It has been a mixed week for Tollywood at Domestic Box-Office with Goodachari doing well and other films performing in below par level.

1. Goodachari : After a good weekend, the film has sustained good enough to emerge as a success on weekdays. it has collected an estimated distributor share of 5 Crores by the end of it’s first week. It is a success already with few buyers yet to recover the expenses which is expected to be mostly done by the end of it’s second weekend.

2. Srinivasa Kalyanam : The film which had a mid week release on thursday has taken below par opening in domestic markets. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 2.90 Cr on it’s opening day which is way below the mark. Weekend is going to be very crucial for the film as it will be facing competition from a new release on Independence Day. BELOW PAR !

3. Chi La Sow : After a decent Sunday, the film has continued with low collections on weekdays making it a poor week overall. It has collected an estimated distributor share of 1.60 Cr against the valued theatrical rights of more than 3 Crores. DISASTER !

4. Saakshyam : The film has added an estimated share of 1.60 Cr in it’s 2nd week taking two weeks total to 11.45 Cr. Theatricals of the film are valued at 25 Crores. which tallies to a recovery of mere 45 percent. It’s a Hat-trick failure for Bellamkonda Sreenivas. DISASTER !

5. RX 100 had better collections on weekdays when compared to other new release Brand Babu which was a total washout. Cummulative share of former is around 11.50 Crores where as the later has collected a mere 50 lakhs share.

Story:

Srinivasa Kalyanam is all about what happens when a marriage alliance is set between two contrasting backdrop families. The interlaced theme highlights the significance of telugu traditional marriages and underlines the importance of joint families and relations. Srinivas Raju ( Nithiin ) loves Rudraraju Sridevi alias Sree ( Raashi Khanna) and both parents agree for their marriage. While agreeing for the marriage, Vasu’s Father-in-law RK (Prakash Raj) throws a crazy pre-condition to Vasu, with a counter one Vasu accepts it. Rest of the story is about whether they stick to their conditions by the time marriage occurs or not.

Performances:

This film has a stellar star casting. Even for small characters, they signed up very reputed actors. Nithiin as vasu , who loves his family very much, portrayed the role efficiently. Raashi Khanna is very cute as Sree – Vasu’s love interest and bride . Poonam Kaur plays Sree’s elder sister role , Nandita Sweta plays vasu’s maradalu ( Sister-in-law) role. Prakash raj plays rich father role with ease, Rajendraprasad and Naresh got smaller roles with little scope to perform. Jayasudha as grandmother plays a preaching role convincingly. Praveen, Satyam Rajesh and Vidyullekha Raman take care of comedy department. Yesteryear heroines Aamani, Sitara play mother roles. There are many other known actors even in insignificant roles

Analysis:

Producer, director Dil Raju , Vegesna Satish are known for feel good movies with family values , and the duo yet again came up with a film that is on expected lines. Story wise nothing creative out there, it is fairly simple one. What make this film appeal to families is the showcased traditions of the marriage in telugu families. It subtly reminds us the sensibilities we forgot as we grow in this materialistic world. Director pinpoints at the current busy generation who doesn’t even spend few minutes at the weddings they attend. To establish his point, the director has written the drama from two families’ point of view. One family represents urbanized rich, second represents traditional joint village family. That premise give scope to properly compare and contrast the both sides’ arguments. In first half Srinivas, Sree love thread is okay but could have been better.. They quickly come to marriage decision

First half of the movie is good paced, second half is family oriented. Youth may feel bit uncomfortable with lengthy dialogues in 2nd half. Sameer Reddy photography captures the picturesque Godavari districts.

Positives:

Feel good film with subtle message
Deja Vu moments for elders, middle aged people
Rich Telugu traditional wedding has been highlighted so well
Nithiin , Raashi couple look good despite poorly written romantic track
Star casting is outstanding
Title song and couple of other songs are pleasant
Last but not least: Dialogues

Negatives:

Redundant point at times
Lack of youth elements in 2nd half (Of course complete family oriented film)
Conflict point is not so great

Verdict:

‘ Sriniavas Kalyanam ‘ is another feel good movie which highlights the significance of traditional marriage. Director also establishes what healthy extended family relations could make a difference in our lives in present materialistic world. As this is a concept based film, towards the end the point becomes redundant and preachy. Overall, a Good and must watch film for family audience! We need to wait and see how youth will embrace this film.

Nithiin who has delivered consecutive disasters recently is back with a Family Drama, Srinivasa Kalyanam. The film has opened today in nearly 600 theatres and will comfortably lead the weekend’s race. Domestic theatrical rights of the film are valued at 24 Crores which is the mark that has been achieved only once by the hero with Aaa. The film should put good numbers in the weekend as stakes are high with no director brand as Aaa had Trivikram. Word Of Mouth is going to be a crucial factor for the film as it will be coming into play by the start of weekend.

At Second Place it will be Kamal Haasan’s Big Budget Sequel Thriller Vishwaroopam 2 unless things go completely wrong. The film is releasing in 350 odd theatres in Telugu States which is one of the widest for the hero. But the buzz is very low for the film with delayed release is said to be the one of the main reason for it. Vishwaroopam 1 was released back 2013 means a 5 years gap which is huge. However, the film has good good prices from distributors with theatrical rights for Telugu States in the range of 5.5 to 6 Crores. With buzz being low the film depends highly on audience reports.

At Third place it will be Adivi Sesh’s Goodachari which will enter into it’s second week. The film is having a good run at box-office in A centres especially. Some areas are yet to achieve the breakeven mark which should be done by the end of second weekend.

During the pre-release event of Srinivasa Kalyanam, the film’s producer Dil Raju announced that their team would be donating Pattu Vasthraalu (Clothes for newly married couple) for those who are getting married during this season. Dil Raju asked the couple to post their wedding card so that the team of Srinivasa Kalyanam along with Kalamandir would be offering the wedding clothes.

The makers revealed that they received 400 wedding cards in eight hours of the announcement. They even posted the pictures of the Pattu Battalu that would be offered for the couple. Srinivasa Kalyanam is a film that discusses completely about the importance of marriage in real life. The film is hitting the screens on August 9th and the makers are spending a bomb on the promotions.

US box office : Trade circles pin hopes on upcoming releases

Tollywood is experiencing a dull phase at US box office as all recent films failed to make an impact. Disappointed with the string of duds in the last few weeks, trade circles are now betting big on upcoming films which are carrying good expectations among audience.

This week, two prominent films are gearing up for release. Young hero Bellamkonda Srinivas’ Saakshyam and Sumanth Aswin, Niharika starrer Happy Wedding have created decent buzz with their impressive trailers and teasers.

Next week, two medium budget films are going to vie at box office. Brand Babu, which is backed by successful director Maruthi, and Chi La Sow, which got the support from Annapurna Studios, caught the attention of audience with their strong promotions.
