Actress Pooja Hegde shared the trailer of the Telugu original OTT series ‘Maa Neella Tank’ on Friday.

Maa Neella Tank, which marks the OTT debut of Tollywood actor Sushanth, will be streaming on ZEE5. The eight-episode series, which also stars Priya Anand, is a feel-good village dramedy. The series has been directed by Lakshmi Soujanya.

Commenting on the release, Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India says that, “At ZEE5, we are focused at delivering the best content for our viewers while working with Telugu industry’s foremost storytellers and are happy to present our next Telugu Original, Maa Neella Tank. The series is based in a small town but is aspirational in nature and marks Sushanth’s OTT debut. We are confident that it will strike a chord with our viewers and with more such stories, we hope to continue delivering extraordinary entertainment to ZEE5 audience around the world.”

The trailer opens with Sushanth’s cop character laughing off small-town problems. We then see that Sudarshan’s character is threatening to die by suicide if Surekha (Priya Anand) doesn’t accept his proposal. A montage song lends a cinematic touch. Surekha shares a strained relationship with the male lead, something hinting at depth in the love story. The male protagonist comes of age eventually, turning teary-eyed over a lie he had uttered to the female lead.

ZEE5 has been dishing out a wide variety of content in various formats in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarathi, Bengali and other languages. The streaming giant has been streaming ‘Roudram Ranam Rudhiram’ to a blockbuster response.

On the web series front, ZEE5 has been spectacular. After presenting the comedy-drama ‘Oka Chinna Family Story’ from Pink Elephant Pictures, ‘Loser 2’ from Annapurna Studios stable, ‘Gaalivaana’ from BBC Studios and NorthStar Entertainment, it most recently came out with ‘Recce’.

Makers of Ravi Teja’s ‘Ravanasura’ release Sushanth’s look on his b’day

1

Sushanth Anumolu, who has appeared in movies such as ‘Kalidasu’ and ‘Chi La Sow’, was last seen alongside Allu Arjun in ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’. The actor will now essay a “dynamic role” in Ravi Teja’s much-anticipated next movie, ‘Ravanasura’, and as Friday is his birthday, the film’s makers released a poster featuring him.

The poster presents Sushanth in a fierce look. Though the makers of the Ravi Teja-starrer are keeping the details of Sushanth’s character close to their chest, he looks intensely into the camera in the poster with long hair, blue eyes and beard.

Sushanth, an electrical engineer-turned-actor, is the grandson of the Telugu cinema icon Akkineni Nagewara Rao and nephew of the superstar Nagarjuna.

Sudheer Varma is directing the movie under the banners of RT Team Works and Abhishek Pictures. The movie is slated for release on September 30 this year.

Ravi Teja, popularly known as the ‘Mass Maharaja’, will play a lawyer in the action drama. He will also be seen essaying the lead role in ‘Dhamaka’, ‘Rama Rao On Duty’ and ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’, which are in different stages of production.

Sushanth goes down memory lane, talks about quitting engineering for acting

0

Telugu actor Sushanth, who’s basking in the positive reviews he has been getting for ‘Ichata Vahanamulu Niluparadu’, spoke about his decision to quit his engineering studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA, and come back to India.

Cinema is in the actor’s DNA, having the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao as his maternal grandfather, producer A.V. Subba Rao as his paternal grandfather and ‘King’ Nagarjuna as his maternal uncle. Engineering therefore had to make way for cinema, despite the “fine” grades Sushanth got while in university.

After his acting debut in the 2008 film ‘Kalidasu’, he kept getting signed up for more projects, but it was his star vehicle, ‘Chi La Sow’, directed by Rahul Ravindran, that went on to win a National Film Award in 2019 for the Best Original Screenplay.

So, was it a good decision to come back to India and pursue acting? “Yes, very much!,” Sushanth said in a conversation with IANS. “I have had my share of ups and downs, but I have matured along the way. I have learnt to deal with stress better and to relax even while working harder.

“I used to stress over doing well and people liking me. I think it was because I was overly eager to please people. Now, I think I will relax and enjoy my work and not worry about results. When ‘Chi La Sow’ won a national award, I felt I was in the right field.”

Reflecting back on how he has changed in the last few years, Sushanth said: “I always loved films, but I did not have the clarity and maturity to understand what to do. I went to the US to pursue my under-graduate studies when I was just 17 and a half. I really didn’t know what I wanted to do and there has been since then a natural progression.

“Fortunately, or unfortunately, I was a very good student. I got into a very good university and my grades were fine, but two years into engineering, I started missing films, India and home.”

The actor remembers the conversation he had with his mother Naga Susheela before boarding the flight back home.

“I was studying Digital Signal Processing in class, but I kept thinking that ‘this is not what I want to do’. It is great knowledge, but this is not what I want to do. I did work in an office as well, because at the end of the college year, I just went along with my friends and got a job. So, I called home and my mother said, ‘If you come back to India, you will never go back. So, just make sure you are not coming home just because you miss home.’ I was not happy and knew that it was not something I wanted to do. I knew that if I came home, it might be a struggle, or fun, but I had to do this,” the actor said.

Sushanth: I hope to make a mark of my own through work

0

Telugu actor Sushanth comes from a lineage of great actors in Tollywood. His maternal grandfather is the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao, while his paternal grandfather is producer A.V. Subba Rao.

While being an actor in a film family could get intimidating, the young actor is aware of his privilege and the importance of proving his mettle.

As his next film ‘Ichata Vahanamulu Niluparadu’, gears up for a theatrical release on Friday, Sushanth talks about knowing what he brings to the table.

“I am always grateful because my grandfather (Akkineni) told us about the struggles he had, not just as an actor but during his childhood, coming from humble beginnings. He told us about those life experiences. I have seen my uncles and my cousins. I have seen success around me but I have heard of struggles and that keeps me in check. I am grateful for this opportunity and never take it for granted,” Sushanth tells IANS.

Sushanth, who is nephew of actor Nagarjuna, likes to keep it real.

“I know that I have to be good at my craft and get better. The audience will eventually see your work and know if you are good. Yes, I got a good start and I am grateful but I had to reinvent myself with ‘Chi La Sow’ when I was in a rut,” says the actor referring to his 2018 National Award-winning film directed by Rahul Ravindran.

After making his acting debut in 2008 with ‘Kalidasu’, he was seen in ‘Current’ and ‘Adda’ before ‘Chi La Sow’ happened.

Sushanth, who did engineering from the US and studied in University of Illinois, says that he will keep reinventing himself as an actor.

“As a newcomer I went to 4-5 producers for that film and I had to re-invent like any newcomer. In fact, I would say I was coming from a minus at that point. I wasn’t mature enough to do my best work and it took me time to settle down. I hope to make a mark of my own through my work and that is what I can do,” he says.

Directed by S Darshan, ‘Ichata Vahanamulu Niluparadu’, also stars actress Meenakshi Chaudhary.

Sushanth is content with the hard work the entire team has put in.

“I feel like, me along with the entire team have done our best and I am at peace with that. It’s up to the audience now and we have to accept whatever the audience likes,” says the ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ actor.
