TDP is on ventilator, says AP Speaker Thammineni

1

AP Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitaram took a dig at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for his provocative speeches against the YSR Congress and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the recent past.

Speaking to media persons in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, Thammineni said that Chandrababu Naidu was unable to digest his defeat in 2019. He further said that the TDP chief had also lost the hopes of winning the next election and hence making baseless comments on the chief minister and the ruling party.

Thammineni said that the TDP had lost the confidence of the people despite Chandrababu Naidu being in power for nearly one-and-a-half decades. “I have seen Chandrababu Naidu from close quarters and I know him better than anyone else,” the speaker said.

Thammineni further said Chandrababu Naidu’s hunger for power was never ending and never satisfying. He sought to advise the TDP chief to stop worrying about power at this age and focus on health.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, as a young leader, was able to drive the state towards development in all sectors and advised the TDP chief to stop worrying about the state. The state is in safe hands, he said and added that people are not ready to buy Chandrababu Naidu’s lies any more.

The speaker also took a dig at the media for projecting Chandrababu Naidu as the only leader with vision and painting the state in bad taste. He wondered how the media could say that no one else other than Chandrababu Naidu could develop the state.

Thammineni said that the TDP had made over 600 promises during the 2014 general election and when asked the party to implement them, the leaders have removed the promises from the party portal. On the contrary Jagan Mohan Reddy had made just nine promises and all of them were rolled out in the first year of office.

The speaker said that people are wise enough to understand who is best as their leader and asked the TDP leaders to save their party in the ventilator stage before it goes into the mortuary.

Thammineni discounts Amaravati yatra

1

AP Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitaram said that the padayatra from Amaravati to Arasavilli by some people was proved as a fake one. He said that there were hardly 70 farmers who hail from the Amaravati capital villages in the padayatra while the rest were all from Telangana and some were from the film industry.

Referring to the police checking the identification of the farmers as per the high court direction, the speaker said that the fake people were exposed during the verification process. He recalled that the court had given permission for 600 farmers to participate in the padayatra. The court had also given permission for four vehicles to accompany the farmers.

However, for all these years, there were hundreds of farmers found in the padayatra, while dozens of vehicles were accompanying them, the Speaker said. He further said that some of the participants were also making political statements against the ruling party and in support of the opposition TDP. He also said that some were even throwing challenges to the ruling party leaders and were tapping their thighs in full public view.

The participants also were speaking for TDP and making appeals to the people to vote against the YSR Congress, the Speaker said adding that some of the participants have even made derogatory statements against Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He wondered why the participants have not provided their identification cards as directed by the court. This exposed the entire padayatra as fake and political, Sitaram asserted. He said that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was running the show with the TDP activists. Some Jana Sena activists too were taking part in the padayatra, he alleged.

He said most of the farmers in the 29 villages have sold their lands even before giving them in the land pooling system to the government. By selling the lands, the farmers have benefited exceptionally, he said and alleged that they were now targeting to get greater price for the plots that they were expecting from the government if Amaravati is developed as the capital.

“Some greedy people want Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills prices in Amaravati lands. It took several decades for Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills lands to get the present price. But the real estate buyers in Amaravati want the same price in one decade,” Speaker Thammineni Sitaram said.

Speaker Thammineni gets angry with TDP MLAs

0

AP Assembly Speaker Thammineni Sitaram, on Friday turned wild at the opposition TDP MLAs for holding a protest on the speaker’s podium. He shouted at the MLAs to stop reaching his podium and asked them to use the well of the house for any protest, if required.

The Speaker also requested Minister for Legislative Affairs, Buggana Rajendranath, to suggest measures to contain the protests in the House. He said that the TDP members were holding protests on the speaker’s podium every day. He wondered as if the TDP members were coming to the house only to protest and disrupt the proceedings.

The speaker directed the House Marshals to shift the TDP MLAs from the House, after a resolution was passed suspending all the TDP members. He also shouted at them, when the MLAs protested at the arrival of the Marshals.

The TDP MLAs came to the house protesting against the increasing prices. They raised slogans against the price increase in Andhra Pradesh. They also served a notice for the adjournment motion seeking discussion on increasing prices.

As the speaker refused their request, the MLAs held a protest on the speaker’s podium raising slogans against the government and insisting upon the speaker to take up discussion. The MLAs alleged that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to control the prices and demanded that he tender his resignation.

Thammineni lobbying hard for cabinet berth

0

AP Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitharam is understood to have started mounting pressure on chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to get a cabinet berth. A BC leader from Srikakulam district, Sitharam had eyed the cabinet position after the 2019 general elections. However, the chief minister had convinced him to take the Speaker post as he could not accommodate him in the cabinet.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had done meticulous work in composing his cabinet with due representation to all sections. The SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities and the Kapus were given lion’s share in the cabinet, while the size of the Kammas, Reddys and other forward castes was reduced to minimum. He could successfully handle the pressure from the Reddys to keep their number at low.

Because of these combinations, Sitharam had accepted the Speaker post unwillingly and now strongly wants to get out of the top seat. He wants the chief minister to consider him in the BC quota in the cabinet.

As he hails from the Srikakulam district, the chief minister has to take into consideration that too, where Dharmana family is strong contenders for the ministerial post. Dharmana Krishna Das, the elder one in the family is currently the deputy chief minister holding the revenue ministry.

According to sources, the chief minister is in favour of the younger brother, Dharmana Prasada Rao, for the cabinet this time. Prasada Rao was a staunch supporter of late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and is known for his witty and wise oratory skills, which would be of great help to Jagan ahead of the 2024 general elections.

While keeping Thammineni Sitharam in good humour is also equally important for Jagan as he braces up for the second election to retain the power, it is also of greater importance for him to protect the winning horses in every district.

With too many calculators on hand, each calculating factors like caste, district, political importance, it is to be seen how Jagan Mohan Reddy would handle the situation and satisfy the over-ambitious Thammineni Sitharam from the north coastal region.
