Will Undavalli Sridevi resign and seek re-election?

1

Indications are coming from the camp of Tadikonda MLA Undavalli Sridevi that she would force a by-election soon. She was suspended from the YSR Congress last week for allegedly voting for the TDP in the MLC election.

While condemning the charge that she had voted for TDP and questioning the party leadership for suspending her on flimsy grounds, Sridevi extended support to the Amaravati farmers. She said that she would soon meet the Amaravati JAC leaders and extend her support to them. She also wanted Amaravati to be the only capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Having extended her support to Amaravati, Sridevi is likely to be asked by the Amaravati farmers to resign and force a by-election. The opposition TDP and Jana Sena are also likely to suggest to the MLA to seek re-election with Amaravati as her slogan.

Well, former minister Perni Nani had also advised the MLA to resign and prove her strength by contesting the by-election.

While sources say that it is too early for Sridevi to decide on her resignation and Amaravati as her slogan for the by-election, she had reportedly started exploring the possibilities. She is also said to be reaching out to the TDP and Jana Sena leaders who have extended support to her.

She is said to be in two minds whether to join the TDP and contest or join the Jana Sena and contest the by-election. While a good number of her friends are suggesting her to join the TDP and contest, some of her well wishers have reportedly advised her to join Jana Sena and contest the by-election.

Sources say that Sridevi is in favour of contesting on the Jana Sena ticket as that would give her strength of the TDP as well, besides the Congress and the Left parties. The Congress and the Left parties are not going well with the TDP but have healthy relations with the Jana Sena.

Even the BJP voters are comfortable with the Jana Sena rather than the TDP. Given these political equations, Sridevi is likely to join the Jana Sena if at all she decides to quit and seek re-election.

Suspended YSRCP MLA alleges threat to life

0

Suspended YSRCP MLA Undavalli Sridevi on Sunday alleged that she faces threat to her life from party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

A day after her office was attacked allegedly by the cadres of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Tadikonda constituency in Guntur district, the MLA addressed a news conference in Hyderabad to target Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Sajjala.

Alleging that she faces threat to her life from Sajjala, she said it was unfortunate that Andhra Pradesh is facing a situation where even a woman MLA has no protection. She said she would complain to the National Scheduled Caste Commission against Sajjala.

Sridevi was among four MLAs suspended from YSRCP on March 24 for voting for Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate in Legislative Council elections from MLA quota.

The cross-voting by four rebel MLAs of the ruling party had helped TDP win one of the seven Council seats.

Sridevi stated that YSRCP leaders were making allegations against her without maintaining decency while talking about a woman MLA. She also remarked that she will soon give a return gift to those who are alleging that she sold herself in MLC elections.

The MLA alleged that she was sent out of the party for refusing to be a “benami for YSRCP’s illegal acts and unauthorised mining”. She said that after using her for four years, the party dumped her citing MLC elections as an excuse.

She also claimed that “YSRCP goons were threatening her”.

“There is a conspiracy to send me out of the state capital region,” the MLA said.

Sridevi also announced that she will stand with Amaravati farmers who have been fighting against the government’s plans for trifurcation of state capital.

Stating that she has no plans to join any other party, she said she would fight for solving problems of the people of his constituency as an independent MLA.

Mekapati, Unadavalli deny cross voting

1

Ruling YSR Congress MLAs, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy and Undavalli Sridevi have denied having voted for the opposition TDP in the just-concluded MLC elections from the Assembly.

The two legislators, besides two others, were suspended from the party by the YSR Congress leadership for anti-party activities. The other two MLAs were known dissidents – Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, both from the Nellore district.

Undavalli Sridevi, who was removed from the Tadikonda Assembly constituency incharge post a few months ago, held a protest against the party’s action. Since then, she had been inactive in the party and her activities were restricted only to the budget session of the Assembly.

The YSR Congress leadership found that Sridevi had indulged in cross voting that led to the victory of the TDP candidate and defeat of the ruling party candidate. However, she appeared on a news channel on Friday morning and denied having cast the vote.

Sridevi is also said to have met Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy hours before the voting, where the chief minister had reportedly promised to help her. She is said to have been satisfied with the promise. When she appeared on the news channel, she said she would quit the party rather than doing anti-party activities.

It is to be seen how the YSR Congress had zeroed in on Sridevi for cross voting and took action against her.

Quite interestingly, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy too had denied having voted for the TDP. Swearing in the name of God, Chandrasekhar Reddy told the media persons that he would never indulge in such activities while being in the party.

If the two MLAs have not voted for the TDP. Then who did vote for the TDP from the YSR Congress? How did the YSR Congress leadership fail to lay its hands on the real black sheep and made these two legislators scapegoats?

YSRCP suspends rebel MLAs, Kotamreddy joins TDP

1

The ruling YSR Congress on Friday suspended four of its MLAs for cross voting in the just-concluded MLC elections from the Assembly. The party took action against the four MLAs who had voted for the TDP in the MLC election.

Party general secretary and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy told the media persons in Tadepalli that the party had conducted internal enquiry on the cross voting by the MLAs. The party found that the four MLAs, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy and Undavalli Sridevi, were found guilty of cross voting, he said.

He alleged that these four MLAs were sold out to the opposition TDP during the MLC election. He said that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is known for purchasing MLAs and had done the same in the MLC election.

While Sridevi from Tadikonda in Guntur district had denied to have voted for the TDP, Chandrasekhar Reddy was unavailable for the party after the voting was over. Sridhar Reddy defied the party a couple of months ago and had declared that he would go by his conscience in the MLC elections. Ramanarayana Reddy did not make any statement on his preference to vote for the TDP against the party’s decision.

Meanwhile, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy’s brother Giridhar Reddy joined the TDP in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri, soon after the announcement came from the YSR Congress office on his suspension from the party.

Backed by hundreds of supporters, Giridhar Reddy joined the party and said that they would work for the party’s victory in the coming election.

Why YCP MLA Sridevi fell silent on her dalit status?

0

Tadikonda MLA Undavalli Sridevi’s master plan to harass TDP leaders is backfiring very badly on herself. TDP is now demanding the cancellation of Sridevi’s MLA status since she has no eligibility to contest from the SC reserved Tadikonda segment. There is video evidence of Sridevi calling herself a Christian. The TDP SC leaders are raising their voice against the YCP MLA.

Interestingly, Sridevi is not daring to hit back at the TDP leaders comments about her Christian status. Till yesterday, she made big scenes of crying and complaining that she was insulted by her dalit caste name. Surprisingly, CM Jaganmohan Reddy, Women’s Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma, YCP Spokespersons and others commented supporting her. Subsequently, all of them have no option but to fall silent.

Political circles say that Sridevi over-reacted on the political comments of some TDP activists at a Ganesh Mandapam. She filed SC, ST Atrocities case and got 4 TDP leaders arrested. She didn’t stop there but blew it out of proportions in the media. Now the TDP is hell bent on taking its sweet revenge by taking legal action against her dalit claims and her unlawful election as an SC MLA.

Police acted on false complaint from YCP Christian MLA?

0

YCP MLA Undavalli Sridevi is controversial for her frequent complaints under the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act against political rivals. Is she truly an SC dalit woman to be eligible to make atrocities complaints? Sridevi herself said in an interview that she is a converted SC Christian married to a Kapu community person. Christian converts cannot claim SC status or reservations. But the police have been booking atrocities cases without second thoughts based on the complaints given by Sridevi.

Now, the woman MLA is caught in the eye of a political storm. She complained that TDP leaders insulted her by her dalit caste name when she visited a Ganesh Mandapam at Anantavaram village in Amaravati Capital City area. AP Women’s Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma spoke to DGP Gautham Sawang for taking action. Following this, three villagers were arrested. Have the police cross checked the dalit status of Sridevi before filing the case? TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu now says that Sridevi cannot contest in SC reserved seat as she herself claimed her Christian status. Will TDP go to court to get Sridevi’s MLA election cancelled altogether?
