As the stage is set for the shifting of the Andhra Pradesh state legislature from Hyderabad to its interim capital Velagapudi any time next month, the fate of Telangana employees working with it is hanging in balance.

Already temporary buildings construction was completed for the Assembly in Velagapudi. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is planning to get it inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 10, when the later visits for the inauguration of National Women’s Parliament-2017.

After hoisting national flag at Assembly premises in Hyderabad on Republic Day, Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao indicated probably this would be last official programme for the AP legislature in Hyderabad. All future meetings and programmes would be held in Velagapudi only, he said.

Already the Assembly Secretariat making preparations for the shifting of its office from here. This makes shifting of all legislature staff room Hyderabad to Velagapudi.

However, this makes nerves to Telangana employees, who are now working with AP State Legislature, as the bifurcation of legislature staff is yet to be taken up between two states.

As many as 123 employees of Telangana were allocated to AP Legislature Secretariat on “Order to Serve” basis. They have been demanding their immediate repatriation, especially in view of shifting of AP Assembly to Velagapudi,.

Early this week they had protest demonstration in the Assembly premises and also made several representations to AP Legislative Council Chairman Dr A Chakrapani, seeking immediate action with regard to their repatriation. However, Dr Chakdapani expressing his inability, informed them that relevant file is pending with the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, seeking his approval.

But, Chandrababu Naidu is opposing `piece meal’ resolution of such inter-state issues between two Telugu states and seeking solution for all pending issues at a time. As their service is being hanging between two governments, the employees working for AP Government are facing several logistic problems. Their bus passes were cancelled. They are now threatening to launch mass agitation, if their issue is not settled.
