Telangana politics has entered a heated phase, with sharp exchanges between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS intensifying public debate. After a meeting with party leaders, former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao launched a strong attack on the Congress government. He accused the administration of failing to protect the state’s rightful share of river waters and alleged that governance had been reduced to promoting real estate interests. KCR also announced plans for a series of large public meetings in the coming days, signalling an aggressive political push.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responded firmly to KCR’s remarks, setting the stage for further confrontation. Soon after, former minister T. Harish Rao stepped into the debate with a series of hard-hitting comments that have now gone viral.
Harish Rao defended the record of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government and rejected allegations of economic mismanagement. He said Telangana achieved remarkable financial growth under BRS rule. According to him, the state saw a threefold rise in Gross State Domestic Product and a significant increase in per capita income, placing Telangana among the top-performing states in the country. He urged the Chief Minister not to damage the state’s reputation for short-term political gains.
Referring to allegations made by Revanth Reddy about financial chaos during the BRS tenure, Harish Rao said such claims were misleading and politically motivated. He recalled past statements where Revanth Reddy allegedly admitted to sidelining his own party colleagues to rise in politics. Harish Rao also cited earlier comments by Komatireddy leaders, who had claimed that Revanth Reddy paid a large sum to secure the PCC president post. He asserted that BRS leadership was built on sacrifice, integrity, and grassroots struggle, not on power deals.
Harish Rao further stated that BRS leaders had willingly given up MLA and ministerial posts for the sake of the party and the state. He questioned why the Congress government reacted so strongly when KCR raised issues concerning water rights. He asked under whose pressure the state had agreed to reduce its water share. He pointed out that a letter seeking allocation of only 45 TMC was reportedly sent to the Centre with the signature of Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Taking a sarcastic tone, Harish Rao said Uttam Kumar Reddy should come better prepared to press meets and accused him of having only partial knowledge of irrigation matters. He concluded by stating that Telangana’s achievements in grain production and medical education were the direct result of KCR’s leadership, while accusing the Congress of lacking a clear stand, ideology, or governance direction.
