The Aadhar card system is expanding its wings in Andhra Pradesh. The state government has decided to use the Aadhar card for multi-purpose and has started to work actively in that direction. Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar, UIDAI officers from Delhi and officials from the departments of state held discussions on Friday.

Aadhar card system, which is being used to deliver the welfare schemes in the state, will soon commence operations at private hospitals and public hospitals. Officials have brought to the notice of the government that only 97 per cent people in AP have Aadhar card, as there is no registration procedure for newly born infants.

With the Government keen on initiating the process of issuing Aadhar card for new-borns in hospitals, the CS reportedly held discussions with Hyderabad Aadhar Deputy Director General Rami Reddy. Likewise, the facilities to be provided in the process of issuing new Aadhar cards was also discussed.

The final decision on the issue will be disclosed after conducting discussions with the Chief Minister. In AP, there are 810 Aadhar card registration centres in the state with 5.12 crore Aadhar card holders. The districts of Anantapur, East Godavari and Srikakulam districts accounted for 100% of Aadhar enrolment.
