The illegal betting app scandal has put several Telugu film celebrities, who indiscriminately promoted them without paying any heed to the consequences, under the scanner of investigation agencies. Many notable artists were served notices by the Hyderabad Enforcement Directorate to attend for further inquires in this unlawful activity.
As part of this operation, the ED sleuths have summoned prominent actor Vijay Devarakonda to attend their office on August 6th. Reports suggest that the Kingdom actor was grilled by ED officials for more than a couple of hours. Vijay was posed several questions in connection with promoting betting apps for monetary benefits. The ED is digging deep into this scandal and also verifying the financial documents relating the remuneration earned from these promotions.
The intention behind this operation is to find out if there is any money laundering involved in the scandal. Vijay Devarakonda was reportedly questioned about the sources of his income and also asked to show valid proofs for his money transactions from the time he started promoting these apps. A close source revealed that his statements were also recorded by the ED officials.
Others actors like Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj and Manchu Lakshmi were also summoned by the ED. The unexpected crackdown from the Enforcement agency has made film celebrities more cautious in endorsing unethical business practices for the sake of money.
