Observing that Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been day-dreaming that TDP supremo, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, will be sentenced for life imprisonment, TDP politburo member, Varla Ramaiah, on Saturday opined that it is Jagan who will be sentenced to life imprisonment but not Chandrababu Naidu.

If Chandrababu Naidu is sentenced to life though all the courts in which cases are pending against him have been saying that there is no evidence whatsoever in the all cases, how many times Jagan should be sentenced to life imprisonment as chargesheets have already been filed in 11 cases against him, Ramaah asked while talking to media persons at the party headquarters here. Pointing out that all these 11 chargesheets have been filed in different cases as far back as 12 years ago, the TDP politburo member said that the courts too have taken them into consideration while the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) too has submitted necessary evidence.

Ramaiah is of strong opinion that Jagan is playing with his party MLAs as how the players play chess. He also asked whether Jagan did not mint money and developed his business resorting to quid pro quo by taking advantage of his father’s position as the chief minister of the State. “Since this quid pro quo has also been proved with evidence how many times Jagan should be sentenced to life imprisonment,” Ramaiah asked.

Pointing out that charge sheet has not been filed even in a single case filed against Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP politburo member said that on the other hand he is granted anticipatory bail. Ramaiah demanded that the officers investigating the cases lodged against Chandrababu Naidu be suspended as they have not conducted the probe properly.

The courts have already made it clear that they could not find Chandrababu Naidu’s involvement in any of the cases pending against him, Varla said and added that the fact is that the courts have pulled up the police department. The court, in its judgement, has even scolded both the police wing and the Crime Investigation Department (CID), he stated.

Advising the police officials to utilise their power properly, he felt that one should not be arrested on false charges and should be moved forward only when they find concrete evidence after investigation. Is it correct on the part of Jagan to seek 3,500 adjournments without attending the court, Ramaiah asked and expressed surprise whether a common man too gets so many adjournments.

The judges have questioned Jagan as to how his assets have gone so high suddenly as the total cost of his properties in 2004 was a mere Rs 1.73 cr, the TDP politburo member said. Even the justices of the Supreme Court too have come to an understanding that Jagan is the most corrupt leader and their comments clearly reflect this, he added.

The TDP politburo member expressed the opinion that if the economic offenders who destroyed the financial system of the country are not taken to task, the entire society will have to face the consequences. “My sincere appeal to the honourable judicial system is to review the decision in the case of Jagan,” Ramaih maintained.
