Is this why Ali did not get Rajya Sabha MP seat?
Till a couple of days ago, it was rumoured that comedian Ali, who campaigned for the party in 2019 and has even sacrificed his friendship with Pawan Kalyan, would be made a Rajya Sabha MP. Even Ali himself has recently claimed that ‘something’ could soon happen in a couple of weeks. But, now it turns out that Jagan did not have a Rajya Sabha seat in mind for Ali.
Ali has been made the chairperson of the AP State Wakf Board. YS Jagan felt that Ali could have communication problems as he is not conversant in Hindi or Urdu. He is not a fluent speaker of English either. This aspect is said to be weighing heavily against Ali. He felt that since Ali is involved in Islamic charity in several parts of the state, he would fit the bill as the Wakf Board head.
Meanwhile, there is a buzz that Jagan is actively considering to reward another comedian, who stood by the YSRCP through thick and thin. Writer-turned-actor Posani Krishna Murali is now passing through a lean patch in the film industry due to his attacks on Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. He is said to have lost several film offers due to his comments. Jagan is said to be looking to compensate him for his staunch defence of the YSRCP.
There is a buzz that Posani would be given a plum post and even a Rajya Sabha seat is being actively considered. Both these comedians stood by the YSRCP even when it was out of power. So, it could be a disappointment for Ali for now. As for Posani, it remains to be seen how Jagan chooses to reward him.
Will YS Jagan make comedian Ali a Rajya Sabha member?
It now appears almost certain that star Telugu comedian Ali could be nominated to the Rajya Sabha on the ruling YSRCP ticket from Andhra Pradesh. The rumour mill went into a tizzy after Ali too was invited to meet AP Minister Perni Nani, with whom the tallest of the Tollywood came to meet Jagan on Thursday.
The invitation to Ali, who has not been very active on the silver screen these days, triggered speculations that he could be sent to Rajya Sabha. The YSRCP can send four persons to the Rajya Sabha as four seats are falling vacant soon. Also, the election is going to be a cakewalk as the YSRCP has the required numbers.
Ali, who campaigned for the YSRCP in the 2019 elections, has been requesting YS Jagan for suitable rehabilitation. He has met YS Jagan several times seeking party ticket. There were rumours that he would be made the party candidate for the Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections. Now, the buzz is that Jagan would send him to the Rajya Sabha.
Ali, a native of Rajahmundry, entered the film world as a child artiste and made a name for himself. Later, he graduated into a fine comedian and has acted as a hero in a couple of films. Of late, he has focused on the small screen and has been anchoring talk shows.
Will comedian Ali contest from Rajahmundry in 2024?
Actor-comedian Ali has for long been yearning for recognition by the YSRCP. He joined the YSRCP in 2018 and actively campaigned for the party in the 2019 elections. He has specifically campaigned in minority-dominated areas and helped in YSRCP getting the crucial Muslim votes.
However, he was never suitably rewarded for his contribution to the party. Though he had visited Tadepalli several times and met YS Jagan and other party seniors, he has not been given any post. Even when the nominated posts were on offer, Jagan did not consider him. One even expected a cinema-related nominated post for him. But, somehow, Jagan ignored his claims.
Now it turns out that the YSRCP has other plans for comedian Ali. It wants to give him an MLA ticket from the party and by all accounts, he would be asked to contest from Rajahmundry. Ali hails from Rajahmundry and has deep contacts with the city. He began his life as a child street hawker selling pins and ribbons in Rajahmundry’s busy main market. Later, his mimicry skills took him to the movie world and after a slew of child actor roles, he entered the big league.
Rajahmundry has always been a tough nut to crack for the YSRCP. Since the formation of the TDP, the two seats in the city preferred the TDP. Only twice, in 2004 and 2009, the Congress had won from Rajahmundry. Once, in 2014, the BJP had won with the TDP support. So, the YSRCP feels that it can use a celebrity artiste and a person from the minority community to beat the TDP in 2024. Hence, it is reportedly planning to make Ali its candidate from Rajahmundry in 2024. Sources say Ali is willing to try his luck from Rajahmundry. This only means that he may have to wait till 2024 to get a post.
Ali lodges a police complaint for fake Twitter account
Telugu film industry ace comedian and TV host Ali on Saturday filed a police complaint against an imposter who’s running a Twitter account under his name.
Ali Basha, who acted in more than 1,000 films in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages, has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police over a fake Twitter handle.
An impostor had been running a Twitter account @ActorAliOffl under the actor’s name and had been posting adverse comments against the Telugu film industry’s big names.
Ali has submitted a written complaint to Cyberabad police ACP Rohini appealing to get the account removed and action against the impostor for creating a fake account under his name.
Ali roped in for a Bollywood biggie
Comedian Ali has four decades of experience as an actor and did several interesting roles. The talented actor and comedian has been approached to play a crucial role in Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan’s upcoming movie Dabangg 3. Ali will be playing a constable in Salman’s team in the film. Ali along with his family members clicked a picture with Salman which is now viral on the internet.
Prabhudeva is directing Dabangg 3 and Sonakshi Sinha is the heroine. Salman plays the role of ruthless cop Chulbul Pandey in the movie. Arbaaz Khan and Salman Khan are the producers. The film releases for Christmas this year.
Janasena tickets confirmed for Trivikram and Ali??

Power star Pawan Kalyan is currently busy shooting for “Agnathavasi “(title yet to be confirmed officially) in the direction of Trivikram. Film slated for January’ 2018 release. Post that movie Pawan is expected to be fully in the field of politics. There seems to be lot of competition for Jana Sena tickets though nothing is yet confirmed on whether Jana Sena will go solo or will have alliance with any other political party.
Meanwhile, there have been rumors on Pawan’s friends Trivikram and Ali also joining the politics and expecting to get tickets from Jana Sena. As per the sources there are many aspirants from film industry this time but Pawan is planning to give around 5 tickets to filmy people. It seems Trivikram and Ali are in the good books of Pawan and Pawan also has promised to give them tickets.
On the other hand, Pawan is gearing up to convene plenary and also start state tour (pada yatra or bus yatra) soon. As per the sources, his state tour may start around December end or early January, just before the release of the movie Agnathavasi movie.
