Bandaru Dattatreya hails Article 370, CAA

0

Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday hailed the Central government for scrapping Article 370 and amending the Citizenship Act (CAA).

Delivering the customary address to the state assembly on the first day of the Budget session, he said the Central government has passed the Constitution (application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order of 2019 in public interest.

By promulgating this order, Section 370 has been abolished and a single Constitution has been enforced bringing the entire nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari under one Tricolour flag.

Besides this, the apex court, in a historic decision, has paved the way for construction of Ram Mandir by settling the Ram Janmabhoomi land case.

In the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, the government has made amendments to the Citizenship Act of 1955, prescribing provisions for conferring citizenship of India to the members of the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christian communities who entered India from Afghanistan, Pakistan or Bangladesh because of religious persecution.

“This became possible only because of the guidance of a strong leadership in this country. My government endorses these decisions and congratulates the Central government for taking these unprecedented decisions,” the Governor said in his address in Hindi for nearly two hours.

Dattatreya to take oath as Himachal Governor on Sep 5

0

Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya will take oath as the governor of Himachal Pradesh on September 5.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader told reporters here on Monday that he will leave for Himachal Pradesh on September 4 and will take oath as Governor the next day.

He was speaking after performing ‘puja’ at the famous Ganesh idol at Khariratabad here. The 61-feet idol is the tallest among the idols installed in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

One of the new Governors appointed for five states by the Centre on Sunday, Dattatreya thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for reposing confidence in him.

The 72-year-old was elected to Lok Sabha for four terms from Secunderabad constituency here.

He served as Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and also in earlier Modi government. Dattatreya, who was dropped from the ministry in 2017, was also denied ticket in the recent elections.

Dattatreya to be made governor just before 2019 LS elections

0

Bandaru Dattatreya offered his resignation after he reportedly was assured Governor’s post. He is the Member of Parliament representing Secunderabad constituency and will be made governor in 2019. The 70-year-old will get the governorship just before the 2019 elections, to avoid facing by-election.

It may be noted that the only Union Minister representing the state of Telangana has tendered resignation to as Minister of Labour on Friday ahead of the Narendra Modi cabinet reshuffle.

With BJP keeping special focus on strengthening the party in Telangana, Karimnagar leader Muralidhar Rao who is also general secretary of BJP will be elevated to adorn a bigger role.

Dattatreya who was inducted in the first cabinet reshuffle in November, 2014, has not been able to contribute heavily to strengthen the saffron party in youngest state due to health and age reasons. This comes as no surprise since Amit Shah has been trying to sideline the veteran leaders by giving them various other roles.

Bandaru Dattatreya resigns to his Ministerial post

0

Secunderabad Member of Parliament Bandaru Dattatreya allegedly resigned to his ministerial post on Friday. Following the resignation, the labour minister apparently said that he would work for the party. This development comes after the reports on Narendra Modi Cabinet reshuffle emerged.

This third cabinet expansion to take place on Sunday will probably be the last major shuffle.

Arun Jaitley, who is finance and defence minister, after the end of the exercise may be left with only one portfolio and most probably defence.

Apart from Dattatreya, other ministers who supposedly offered resignation include Uma Bharti, Kalraj Mishra, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Sanjeev Baliyan, Faggan Singh Kulaste, and Mahendra Nath Pandey.

The ratification of the 8.65 per cent on EPF will enable the retirement fund body EPFO to credit this rate of return into the accounts of four crore subscribers.
