Ugly trend of releasing posters continue for Maharshi

Just like how the producers of Bharat Ane Nenu and Aravindha Sametha released posters with inflated collections during their run , the makers of Mahesh Babu’s latest release Maharshi are continuing the unhealthy trend by repeatedly coming up with exaggerated posters.

After claiming Maharshi as an Epic Blockbuster, the publicity team has now released a poster to promote the film as the highest grosser in Mahesh Babu’s career. This poster is now inviting a lot of criticism from audience and industry circles as it clearly undermines Mahesh’s previous hits like Srimanthudu. As per the trade calculations, Maharshi is yet to surpass the full run of Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu.

Also, it is likely to be a loss venture in some of the major areas. Despite all this, Maharshi team is going overboard and belittling the strong success of Mahesh’s genuine box hit Srimanthudu. As soon as the poster was released, there have been numerous trolls in social media on the publicity team of Maharshi.

After Rangasthalam, Ram Charan opened up about this ugly trend and assured not to release any posters for his next films to avoid controversies and needless exaggeration. Now, it is time for Mahesh Babu to come up with a similar decision for his next films.

Kiara wins ‘Best Find of Year Award’, promises to work harder

Actress Kiara Advani, who made her debut in Telugu cinema with “Bharat Ane Nenu” last year, bagged Best Find of Year at Zee Cine Awards Telugu for her performance. Overwhelmed by the “motivating” start to 2019, she says she is focused on working harder to entertain fans.

The awards ceremony was held here on Sunday, and just a day later, Kiara posted a heartfelt note on social media.

She wrote: “Thank you Zee Cine Awards Telugu for honouring me with Best Find of Year. A big thank you to all the south fans who voted for me. I am dedicating this one to you. No amount of words will be enough to you how grateful I am for all the love you will have showered me with, for your support and instant acceptance. You all make me want to work harder and be the best version of myself.”

She said “Bharat Ane Nenu”, which also featured south superstar Mahesh Babu, will always be her “memorable film”.

The 26-year-old actress also thanked the filmmakers for believing in her.

“Thanks Mahesh sir and Namrata for bringing me into this industry, my director Koratala Siva Garu for believing in me to play Vasumathi… This is honestly the most motivating start to 2019 and I promise to entertain you the best of my capabilities,” she added.

Not only in the southern film industry, Kiara also surprised netizens in 2018 with a commendable performance in Netflix’s anthology “Lust Stories”.

She is currently busy shooting for her upcoming film “Good News”.

Tollywood’s top hits Rangasthalam and Geetha Govindam even topped the list and raked massive TVRs on small screen. Rangasthalam is leading the list with 18.61 TVR while Geetha Govindam took the second slot with 17.17 TVR. Mahanati, Bharat Ane Nenu and Krishnarjuna Yudham occupied the next three places as per the TVRs. Here is the list and the ratings of top five rated Tollywood films on small screen:

Probably from the late 1980s or the early of 1990s, Telugu cinema has witnessed a changed with commercial factor playing a crucial role. High octane fight sequences, comedy track, colorful songs and the mid 2000s brought a trend of item numbers, remained as pillars of a film’s success for a decade or so.

But again, as audience always look for something new, over the last couple of years, there is a change too and it happened inevitably. Audiences have started accepting films that are serious in nature despite the same old plot. But that’s not the case of a filmmaker who would like to make a film in every possible genre and at the same time, the success is what takes him/her forward. Nonetheless we have very few directors been experimenting and incorporating a social message with commercial elements.

Directors Koratala Siva set this trend with ‘Srimanthudu,’ ‘Janatha Garage’ and ‘Bharat Ane Nenu.’ Though the first two films have a regular story, ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ is one of the boldest attempts in the recent times and it is sort of an awareness film for the audience. ‘Rangasthalam’ is another example of a serious drama and it’s been a while Telugu audience have witnessed a proper village drama with rustic approach. The characters in the film will remain for a long-long time.

The latest edition is ‘Aravindha Sametha Veera Raghava.’ A combination of Jr NTR and Trivikram is anticipated with loads of entertainment, punch dialogues, songs in lavish abroad locations and blah.. blah… blah. Surprising everyone, this film stuck to its core point and it clearly lacked the comedy track (that’s critics’ words). As the audiences are the ultimate deciders, ‘Aravindha Sametha’ is on its way to become a biggest hit in NTR’s career.

Member of Parliament Galla Jayadev initiated the debate on No confidence motion in Parliament today. He thanked chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and member of parliament Kesineni Nani for giving him opportunity. Because usually first time MP will not be given such opportunity and he felt this as privilege to initiate such crucial debate despite being first time MP.

He started his speech mentioning about the movie Bharath Ane Nenu. He gave brief of the film story that an NRI returns to India and after his father, who is a chief minister, dies, he takes over as chief minister of the state and the main theme of this movie is that a man will be called a man only if he keeps up his promise. He reminded Modi has made promise to the people of Andhra Pradesh about several things and it is time for him to keep up those promises. He added that not fulfilling what is mentioned in the act of Government of India is definitely a national issue.

Bharat Ane Nenu has ended up it’s run worldwide with distributor share close to 95 cr. The film is a profitable venture outside Telugu States but it isn’t the same inside. It is a profitable venture in 3 areas(Guntur, East & UA) out of the 8 trade areas in Telugu States. The film is a loss venture for buyers in Nizam, Ceeded, West and Nellore areas. Though it’s an own release in Krishna , it has under-performed and will be a loss venture based on the valued price. Siva Koratala’s directional film BHARAT ANE NENU starring Mahesh Babu, Kiara Advani was released on April 20th 2018. Produced by DVV Danayya, Bharat Ane Nenu has collected a gross of $3,415,699 to become 4th highest grosser of All-Time in USA. The film is the fourth one to collect over 3 million Dollars after the Mighty Baahubali(s) and Rangasthalam. Infact, it’s just 100k shy of the third place holder Rangasthalam.

Coming to profit loss details, the film has collected a distributor share of $2,049,687 in USA which converts to 13.65 Crores in INR. From Non-USA markets it has fetched another 4.50 Crores INR, to make it a total distributor share of 18.15 Crores in Overseas. The film has costed 18 Crores (including expenses like Vpf, Publicity) for distributor which means he has ended up with a profit of 0.15 Crores. Bharat Ane Nenu continued it’s decent run with distributor share going past 93 cr mark worldwide. The film is an outright profitable venture outside Telugu States. When two big ticket films release during the same season, there is enough room for fan wars in social media about collections and other box office parameters.

Recently, Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam and Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu have released in the span of three weeks and emerged as super hits. As both films have been carrying huge expectations among trade circles, fans have eagerly waited to see which one will emerge as a winner in Summer.

Meanwhile, Charan expressed displeasure over the comparisons that are being made to decide which is a better film. The Rangasthalam actor has opined it is a such a senseless attempt to compare two successful films which have come at the right time for industry.

Charan negated the divide and rule policy and said film industry works as an united organisation. He also added that both he and Mahesh are good friends and expressed happiness over the success of both films.

The makers of Summer biggies Naa Peru Surya and Bharat Ane Nenu are making a mockery of the collections with their false publicity claims.

While Bharat Ane Nenu producer released a poster claiming that the film collected 190.63 Crores in two weeks, Naa Peru Surya makers have announced that it has collected 63.86 Crores by the end of two days. It is clearly evident that the makers have inflated the collections and they are far from reality.

Ironically, both BAN and NPS are made as a message oriented films with an undercurrent message for viewers. These films are preaching high moral values to society with thought provoking social subjects.

But, quite ridiculously, they are trying to exaggerate the box office numbers for false prestige.

Apart from ardent fan groups, no one really considers these box office numbers as the parameter to judge the film’s success. Audience just need a good movie to enjoy.

Bharat Ane Nenu is doing decent as it will collect over 13 cr distributor share worldwide in it’s second week(ie, from April 27th to May 3rd). 13 days worldwide total of the film is over 87.5 Cr which makes it fifth highest collected film in Tollywood history. It has beat Srimanthudu which stood at 5th position earlier with a distributor share of 84 Cr. The film has a solo two weeks run with no major releases and will be facing a bigge for the first time as Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya is releasing tomorrow.

Bharat Ane Nenu US Box office – What is the Breakeven?

What is the breakeven for Mahesh Babu Koratala Siva’s Bharat Ane Nenu? There are different versions of breakeven amounts circulated online. So we decided to use the time tested formula we typically use to evaluate overseas profits and loss. This share that we calculate typically matches well with the final amount distributor gets.

Bharat Ane Nenu overseas rights are bought by Great India films and US rights are valued around 13.6 Cr (including expenses). Rest of US rights were sold to different parties for Rs 4.5 Crs.

USA Acquired Price : $ 1.894M
Expenses : $ 150k
Total : 2.044M

To calculate the approximate payout, we used the ratios for 1st week. Using a weighted ratio (assuming the final ratio will be in line with Week 1 ratios), the total payout comes to 60.2%.

US B.O : BAN holds well despite Avengers storm

Tollywood has witnessed back to back blockbusters at the US box office. After Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam, it is Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu that has set the cash registers ringing in the just concluded weekend.

Despite the monstrous release of Avengers Infinity War, Bharat Ane Nenu did well in the second weekend to surpass the $ 3 Million mark at US box office.

After a sensational first week with $ 2,788K haul, the political thriller collected $ 106K and $ 153K on its second Friday and Saturday respectively. Bharat Ane Nenu also emerged as the biggest hit in Mahesh Babu’s career and fourth highest grosser in US.

Rangasthalam collected $ $ 122K and $202K on its second Friday and Saturday respectively. By the end of second weekend, Bharat Ane Nenu, which collected close to $ 100K on Sunday, is tantalisingly close to Rangasthalam.

Rangasthalam grossed $ 3211K and Bharat Ane Nenu collected $ 3153K by the end of two weeks. Trade analysts opined that Bharat Ane Nenu performed on par with expectations given that there no offers and the massive release of Avengers Infinity War.

On the other side, Rangasthalam collected $ 2K and $ 7K on its fifth Friday and Saturday and the total gross is close to $ 3.5 Million mark.

Trade circles predict that Bharat Ane Nenu might end $ 100K – 150k short of Rangasthalam in its full run in US.

The political drama, directed by Koratala Siva, is collecting decent revenues in its second weekend. As of this writing, Bharat Ane Nenu surpassed the prestigious $ 3M mark at the US box office by Saturday night ( still counting).

After having a sensational first week with $2,789K, Bharat Ane Nenu collected $ 106K on its second Friday and emerged as the biggest hit in Mahesh Babu’s career by going past Srimanthudu, his previous best.

On Saturday, the film has so far pulled in $ 105K to take the total past $ 3 Million mark. Bharat Ane Nenu is now trailing Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam which is inching towards $ 3.5 M. Baahubali 2 and Baahubali 1 are comfortably placed in first two places by a huge margin.

Bharat Ane Nenu is only the fourth film in the history of Tollywood to collect more than $ 3 M in US.

Marking the superb box office success of Mahesh Babu’s latest film Bharat Ane Nenu, a grand success meet has been held in Novotel Hyderabad on April 28th.

Speaking at the event, Mahesh thanked audience for making this film a big success. He praised director Koratala Siva for his indepth knowledge in every aspect beyond films.

Mahesh said he will be indebted to Koratala for delivering super hits and reviving his career two times in the last four years. He also showered praises on producer DVV Danayya for his efforts in bringing a quality product and also thanked Devi Sri Prasad for his brilliant work.

Koratala Siva said DVV is one of the best producers in industry and also appreciated for not compromising on the quality of the film. The Srimanthudu director said it is a dream come true to direct an actor like Mahesh Babu and also hinted that he is waiting for the third project in their combination.

Producer Danayya said Bharat Ane Nenu is a proud and memorable film for his banner and thanked Mahesh Babu and Koratala Siva for delivering such an inspiring and great film.

He asserted that the film collected more than 160 Crores gross by the end of first week which reflects the blockbuster status at box office. He also clarified that the collections are genuine and it is not a fake figure.

US B.O : BAN edges past Rangasthalam in first week run

In the span of three weeks, Tollywood has witnessed back to back blockbuster hits with Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam and Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu. Both these films are having a dream run at overseas box office with superb revenues in all locations.

In a tight race towards claiming the non-Baahubali spot by the end of first week in overseas , Bharat Ane Nenu has edged past Rangasthalam with a little margin in the first week gross.

While Rangasthalam collected $ 2,788K by the end of its first week, Bharat Ane Nenu managed to surpass it with $ 2,789 haul after its first week.

Both films took a solid start at the US box office with strong numbers on the first day ( including premiers). They went on to collect steady figures throughout the week and emerged as the third and fourth highest grossing films after Baahubali franchise by the end of first week.

Rangasthalam has already emerged as the highest grossing non-Baahubali film in overseas with close to $ 3.5 Million by the end of four weeks.

Meanwhile, Bharat Ane Nenu is on the verge of becoming the highest grossing film in Mahesh Babu’s career in overseas. The film is likely to surpass the full run of Srimanthudu ( $ 2,891K) by this weekend.
