TRS, Congress at loggerheads on approvals for public meetings

0

Hyderabad: At a time when political campaigning peaking, ruling TRS and Congress party are intensifying their fight to get permissions from the Police Department and the Election Commission (EC) for their public meetings, rallies and road shows.

The competition for getting such approvals is more severe than seeking votes in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to be held on April 11. With hardly a week to go for elections, both the parties have locked horns over this battle, said a senior Police official. Congress party is keen on organising road shows by Rahul Gandhi in Secunderabad, Nalgonda, Bhongir and Chevella Lok Sabha constituencies.

Congress party is criticising TRS for not practising democratic principles during the election campaign. The grand-old party said that it “couldn’t get permission for public meeting at Manneguda in Vikarabad for Soni Gandhi on April 8. We couldn’t get public meeting of Sonia Gandhiji. Because of Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s tour on the same day in Vikarabad. This shows mockery side of TRS party.”

Congess party couldn’t get public meeting permission for Konda Vishweshvar Reddy in Chevella. Mega star Chiranjeevi, who’s a relative of Konda family, was scheduled to participate in this public meeting. But, we couldn’t get the required approval, maintained a senior Congress leader.

On the other hand, the Police department cites the reason of law and order as they don’t want public meetings of TRS and Congress on same day in the same constituency.

Why TRS didn’t allocate 12% for Muslims in elections, question Congress, CPI

0

Hyderabad: As Communist Party of India (CPI) extended its support to Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who is contesting on Congress ticket in Chevella Parliamentary seat, the grand-old party has decided to highlight the pending minority issues. Both the CPI leaders agreed upon extending complete support of CPI to Konda Vishweshwar Reddy in Chevella, they will appeal to their cadre to work for him and ensure his victory. Pointing to TRS supremo K Chandrashekhara Rao’s promise of 12 per cent reservations to minorities, both the parties raise a question why TRS didn’t allocate two MP seats for Muslims accordingly.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy met with Chada Venkat Reddy, CPI State Secretary, and Aziz Pasha, former Rajya Sabha MP of CPI, at the CPI office, to discuss poll campaign plan.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said: “CPI has promised to extend its wholehearted support and we will henceforth work together on issues related to minorities, especially the ones plaguing them. Neither CPI nor Congress believe in deceptive announcements like 12 per cent reservation for minorities. We will focus on issues and measures which genuinely benefit minorities and not mere eyewash announcements to corner their votes. In this election, the support of minorities for Congress is a necessity.”

Aziz Pasha said that “I have one simple question for KCR, 12 per cent reservation for minorities is pending in Delhi with Modi, but look at your own action, out of the 16 Parliament constituencies you are contesting, at the rate of 12 per cent you should have allocated two seats to minorities or at least one seat, this is within your purview and you are not in a position to implement. This clearly indicates to public your real intentions, such dual speak of yours is not good. Communist parties are the flag bearers of secularism and we will support such candidates who work strongly for secularism.”

Facebook kills 687 fake accounts linked to Congress

0

In a startling revelation ahead of the general elections, Facebook on Monday announced it has removed 687 spam Facebook Pages and accounts connected to individuals associated with the Congress party’s IT cell.

The individuals engaging in this coordinated inauthentic behaviour used fake accounts and joined various Groups to disseminate their content and increase engagement on their own Pages, said Nathaniel Gleicher, Head of Cybersecurity Policy at Facebook.

“The Page admins and account owners typically posted about local news and political issues, including topics like the upcoming elections, candidates’ views, the INC (Indian National Congress) and criticism of political opponents including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“While the people behind this activity attempted to conceal their identities, our review found that it was connected to individuals associated with an INC IT Cell,” Gleicher said in a telephonic conversation from Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

“The majority of these accounts had already been suspended by our automated systems,” Gleicher added.

Facebook discovered the coordinated inauthentic behaviour in February this year.

The social media giant also discovered spam activities carried out by an Indian IT firm — Silver Touch which runs the pro-BJP page “The India Eye”.

It removed 15 Pages, Groups and accounts linked to the firm.

“They posted about local news and political events, including topics like the Indian government, the upcoming elections, the BJP and alleged misconduct of political opponents including the INC,” Gleicher said.

Prime Minister Modi, AICC chief Rahul Gandhi to address in Telangana

Hyderabad: Monday is a busy day for Telangana politics as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will be addressing at public meetings at different places in Telangana. Modi will take part in a public meeting at LB Stadium campaigning for Lok Sabha candidates in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Chevella and Malkajgiri constituencies. Modi will arrive Hyderabad in the evening to address the meeting at 5pm.

BJP leaders Bandaru Dattatreya, MLA Raja Singh, Secunderabad Lok Sabha candidate G Kishan Reddy, Ramachandra Rao, Laxman and other leaders are making arrangements for the public meeting and engaged in mobilizing the public in large numbers.

Rahul Gandhi arrived here from Bengaluru by a special flight on Sunday night and will address at Wanaparthy, Huzurnagar and Zahirabad. Rahul Gandhi is expected to announce highlights of Congress party manifesto at Zahirabad meeting.

Rahul Gandhi will reach Zahirabad by gelicopter from Shamshababaad airport to address a public meeting in the afternoon. Telangana Congress in-charge RC Khuntia, TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhattivikramarka, star campaigner Vijayashanti and other senior leaders will accompany Rahul Gandhi at the three public meetings.

BJP leaders are criticizing the under current agreement between TRS and Congress. “BJP is gaining the ground as its vote bank has been enhancing. Congress leaders are indirectly working for TRS because of their business interests and real estate ventures. Telangana people voted for Congress and 19 candidates won as MLAs, but 10 of them defected to TRS. That’s the reason, sincere leaders are leaving Congress. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Vijayarama Rao and other Congress leaders are joining BJP. Senior leader and former minister DK Aruna and former TRS Lok Sabha floor leader Jithender Reddy have already joined BJP. This is showing the increasing strength of BJP in Telangana,” said Dr K Laxman.

Why senior leaders leaving Congress?

0

Hyderabad: Four senior Congress leaders are leaving the grand-old party. After former minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy, it’s the turn of Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy to resign from Congress party. Another former minister G Vijayarama Rao also resigned from Congress. Further, former Congress MLA Pravin Reddy is reportedly looking to TRS as he was denied party ticket for Husnabad Assembly constituency. Ponguleti will join BJP party soon.

Explaining about the reasons that forced him to leave the Congress party in a letter addressed to AICC chief Rahul Gandhi, Reddy said: “The Telangana Congress leaders have made the party a commercial entity. The TPCC has failed to strengthen the party from gross root level in Telangana. Moreover, the ticket allocation was full of corruption and that made the party as the commercial party for rich people instead of encouraging those who have been loyal to the party for long. I worked for Congress for over 35 years, but the party didn’t recognise my commitment and contribution. I don’t see any rationale behind continuing the same TPCC office bearers after the dismal performance in Assembly elections. Further, blaming their failure on EVMs is really shameful on the part of the party.”

Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday afternoon and later in the night, he joined BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah.

On the other hand, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, after resigning from Congress, is set to join TRS on Monday.

“Few Congress leaders were trying to suppress me. There’s no discipline in the Congress party. Without asking for my explanation, how can TPCC suspend me from the party. I started my political career as MLA 20 years ago. Late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy accommodated me in the Cabinet. I have already sent my resignation letter to AICC chief Rahul Gandhi,” maintained Sunitha.

Vijayarama Rao has criticised TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy for encouraging brokers and parachute candidates, while suppressing the senior leaders. “TPCC only encourages land grabbers, brokers and those who practice illegal activities only,” remarked Rao.

Congress to file petition against 10 MLAs, who defected to TRS

0

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will file a petition before the Assembly Speaker against its 10 MLAs, defected to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). CLP has already submitted its petition, but the Assembly secretary Narasimha Charyulu didn’t accept it as he’s not competent authority.

According to the 10th Schedule, Assembly Speaker has the power to take such petitions regarding defections, said an official. The CLP has decided to submit a petition seeking disqualification of those defected MLAs to the Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who’s in Nizamabad.

The 10 defected MLAs – Rega Kantha Rao, Anthram Sakku, Chirumarthi Lingaiah, Haripriya Naik, Sabitha Indra Reddy, D Sudhir Reddy, K Upender Reddy, Vanama Venkateshwara Rao, B Harshavardhan Reddy and Jajala Surender have submitted their resignations to Congress party already.

CLP has already kept necessary documents, newspaper clippings and video footage to prove disqualification of 10 defected MLAs and will submit along with petition to the Speaker.

CLP chief Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLAs D Sridhar Babu, Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, Seethakka, Podam Veeraiah, T Jagga Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Pilot Rohit Reddy took part in the CLP meeting to decide on the future course of action.

However, TPCC chief and Huzurnagar MLA N Uttamkumar Reddy didn’t attend the meeting as he’s busy with the election campaign in Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency.

TDP, TJS & Left parties supporting Congress in Telangana

0

Hyderabad: Putting fullstop to the speculation, TDP, TJS and Left parties (CPI and CPM) have decided to extend their support to Congress party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 11 in Telangana. However, there would be no alliance on the lines of Prajakutami in Assembly elections. Despite not having alliance, the support of these parties will give extra much needed muscle to Congress to fight against TRS, said a political analyst.

The old allies of Prajakutami, which contested in Assembly elections held in December 2018 and failed to make an impact against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), are coming together again to take it on the pink party.

Congress party is contesting in all the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies, while TRS in 16 and AIMIM in Hyderabad MP seat.

TDP is for the first time, since its inception in 1982, not contesting in Telangana. “However, we’re against TRS and BJP. So, we’ll support Congress party in Telangana,” said a senior TDP leader.

Coming to Left parties, CPI and CPM are in seat-sharing agreement for four Lok Sabha constituencies. CPI is contesting from Mahbubabad and Bhongir, while CPM has fielded candidates in Khammam and Nalgonda. Both the Left parties will support Congress in the remaining 13 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Rahul promises Rs 72K minimum income to 25 cr poor

0

Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Monday that nearly 25 crore poor people in the country will get financial assistance of Rs 72,000 per annum if the party is voted to power under the ambitious minimum income guarantee scheme which the party has named “Nyay”.

Announcing the details of the party’s promised scheme at a media briefing here, Gandhi said the Congress will provide Rs 72,000 per annum to 20 per cent of the poorest families in the country. The scheme will benefit 5 crore families and 25 crore individuals directly, according to Gandhi.

He said the scheme was “unprecedented in the world”. “Nyay” (the minimum income scheme) will be the Congress’ major poll promise ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and Gandhi termed it as “a final assault on poverty”.

He said the “minimum income line” is Rs 12,000 per annum and the scheme will benefit individuals earning less than that.

“Congress guarantees that 20 per cent of the most poor families will be given Rs 72,000 crore every year. The amount will be transferred directly to the accounts of 20 per cent of the poorest families,” Gandhi said at the beginning of his press conference.

However, he subsequently clarified that the scheme will supplement the income of the poor if it is less than Rs 12,000 per month.

“The minimum income line is Rs 12,000 per month. Whatever the difference — say the income is Rs 6,000 — we will top it up. Those who earn less than Rs 12,000, we will take their earnings to Rs 12,000,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi said the scheme will be implemented in phases and there will be a pilot project.

He said the scheme was “fiscally perfectly possible” and the entire calculations have been already done. The Congress also held detailed analysis with leading economists on the matter.

“It is doable and we are going to do it,” the Congress President said.

Gandhi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the PM-KISAN scheme launched last month, saying that it hardly provides any assistance to the farmers.

“You are being misled. If Modi can provide money to the rich, the Congress can give it to the most poor. Our pockets are being cut daily,” he said.

“We have kept our promise of farm loan waiver in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh,” he added.

Gandhi also referred to the MGNREGA, the rural employment guarantee scheme introduced by the UPA government, and said that it had taken 14 crore people out of poverty in its first phase.

“This is the second and final operation. We will bring 25 crore people out of poverty. This ground-breaking idea is the final assault on poverty,” he said.

Gandhi, who addressed the media after a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), refused to take questions on other political issues.

Sources in the Congress said that party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was among the leaders who had suggested giving a Hindi name to the ambitious scheme to have better connect with the voters.

Congress to slap showcause notices on those who defect

0

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is threatening and blackmailing Congress MLAs and this is the prime reason why our MLAs are defecting, TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy voices concerns, while cautioning that party will issue showcause notices to those who leave the party. Why should people vote for TRS when KCR failed to get all the assurances mentioned in AP Reorganisation Act0-2014 for Telangana, questions Reddy.

“I question K Chandrashekhar Rao to tell the Telanganites whether he’s CM for only TRS MLAs or entire the state. Our Congress MLAs are under pressure and threat from TRS. That’s the reason, they’re joining TRS. Otherwise, the TRS government wouldn’t sanction any funds and take up any development activity in constituencies represented by Congress MLAs. Further Congress MLA role has been reduced to less than that of a village TRS worker. This situation in the constituency is putting Congress MLAs under pressure,” said Uttamkumar Reddy.

Highlighting the failures of the TRS government, Reddy said that so far assurances such as Kazipet railway coach factory, Bayyaram steel plant, tribal university, ITIR, etc, have not been fulfilled.

“Why should Telanganites vote for TRS. There’s no doubt that Rahul Gandhi will become Prime Minister of India and Congress party will implement reservations for tribals and Muslims on population ratio. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will tour Telangana and spearhead the Lok Sabha election campaign. Congress will bag majority seats of 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana,” maintained Reddy.

Why AICC didn’t approve TPCC’s list of candidates?

0

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) has ignored the list of candidates forwarded by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). This is raising many eyebrows over this as what could be the reason for discontinuing the age-old practice of approving the list putforth by the party’s states committees. The grand-old party’s high command has carried out its own private survey, based on which the list of candidates will be finalised, said a source.

Since AICC has put aside the list of Lok Sabha candidates recommended by TPCC, it’s taking time for announcing the list. The AICC was supposed to announce the list of Lok Sabha candidates on March 15. AICC has not yet taken decision on nine Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. The nine Lok Sabha constituencies are: Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Bhongir, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar and Khammam.

For instance, TPCC has recommended names including Madhu Yashki, Kodanda Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah for Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency. But, AICC is thinking of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Bhongir.

For Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency, AICC wants to field TPCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy, whereas TPCC has suggested Komatireddy Venakt Reddy for this slot.

Contrary to TPCC recommendation, AICC has favoured Revant Reddy for Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.

“The main reason for ignoring many recommendations made by TPCC is that AICC has carried out its own survey on potential candidates in every Lok Sabha constituency. Based on this survey report, AICC has arrived to a conclusion that TPCC has picked some wrong candidates. I wouldn’t be surprised if AICC announces candidates, who’re not with the party earlier,” maintained a senior Congress leader.

Congress MP ticket aspirants to join TDP?

0

Political leaders cannot stay from contesting at the time of elections. The April-May is more tempting for them considering the stiff competition between the Modi and the anti-Modi parties. But the Congress biggies like former union minister Panabaka Lakshmi cannot stay away from contesting nor can they contest on Congress ticket which brings certain defeat.

Under such circumstances, the TDP is coming to an understanding with Congress to welcome potential ticket aspirants to join their party and contest. The same formula is now placed before Panabaka Lakshmi who is thinking of getting approval from Rahul Gandhi. Panabaka is very close to the Gandhi family and she is taking all precautions before taking a decision.

The TDP wants to field Panabaka in the SC-dominated Bapatla Lok Sabha constituency where she got good political connections. Both parties think this arrangement will be a win-win situation for them.

Why T Congress senior leaders still silent over Lok Sabha polls?

0

Hyderabad: With Lok Sabha elections nearing, the Telangana Congress is yet to gear up for poll campaigning. However, many senior leaders such as S Jaipal Reddy, Revanth Reddy, DK Aruna are still silent and so far nothing materialised on the ground level, observes a political analyst.

For instance, Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha constituency, in which TRS in 2014 won with small margin as the pink party got 3.34 lakh votes as against Congress’ 3.33 lakh votes, while BJP secured 2.72 lakh votes. Jitender Reddy on TRS ticket won as Mahbubnagar MP defeating Jaipal Reddy of Congress and Nagam Janardhan Reddy of BJP.

TRS won all the seven Assembly seats in undivided Mahbubnagar district in December 2018 from Mahbubnagar, Kodangal, Jadcherla, Shadnagar, Narayanapet, Devarakadra and Makhthal. After the dismal performance in the Assembly elections, party leaders have not taken up any major programme to boost the morale of cadres across the state, said the analyst.

Mahbubnagar district has been a major bastion for Congress for decades, but still lagging in Lok Sabha election campaign. If the situation is like this in Mahbubnagar district, one can imagine what would be the situation in other districts. If the senior leaders don’t take up the crisis management to take on TRS, we have to face the same fate as it was in the Assembly polls,” said a Congress leader.

T Congress to ‘camp’ for MLC polls

0

Hyderabad: Congress party is gearing up to pool up its 19 MLAs for forthcoming MLC elections in Telangana. The camp strategy has been moved by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) over fears that some MLAs are in touch with TRS. The election for five MLCs is scheduled on March 12. TRS wants to win all the five and its votes of 21 MLAs to win each MLC.

TRS has strength of 90 MLAs including two rebels and support of one nominated member and seven AIMIM MLAs. This takes total tally to 98 for TRS as against the required 105 MLAs to win five MLCs.

“So, the ruling party is eyeing our MLAs. If TRS manages to get 13 MLAs then they wouldn’t be disqualified as per the two-third members clause. That’s the reason, TPCC wants to camp the 19 MLAs to check any defection. It’s learnt that one senior leader has proposed to take all the 19 MLAs on a tour,” said a senior leader.

Congress party has reportedly considered a plant to take the MLAs to a place, where Sabari river merges with Godavari at Kunavaram, East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. On Election day i.e. march 12, MLAs will be brought back directly to Assembly.

Congress has finalised Guduru Narayana Reddy for MLC election. With 19 MLAs, Congress is falling short of two more MLAs and looking to TDP, which has two MLAs in Telangana Assembly.

T Congress gearing up for MLC election

0

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress is confident of winning one MLC slot as it has 19 MLAs in the Assembly. TPCC is also seeking support of TDP, which has two MLAs. Who’ll be the potential MLC candidate in the Congress has become a point of discussion now. TRS has decided to field four MLC candidates and allocated one more MLC to AIMIM. Considering the TRS decision, TPCC has decided to contest in MLC elections to give a fight to the ruling party. The Congress party has already collecting signatures of its MLAs. Already 10 Congress MLAs signed the list and this confirms the election for MLC. Two TDP MLAs have reportedly signed the list of Congress MLC candidate. TPCC leaders held a meeting with TDP MLAs — Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and Mecha Nageshwara Rao.

Former minister Marri Sashidhar Reddy is trying to get party high-command approval for his MLC candidature. On the other hand, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Shabbir Ali, whose term is expiring this March, are also strong contenders. In addition these, several names are coming into light, said a source. Pradesh Election Committee meeting is scheduled on February 26 and the party will discuss on the finalising the candidate for MLC election.

After getting the approval for the candidate, TPCC may file nomination on February 27 or 28, said the source.

Priyanka Gandhi to visit AP for Congress Bharosa Yatra

0

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President Raghuveera Reddy is taking up ‘Congress Bharosa Yatra’ to cover entire Andhra Pradesh. The party has taken it as a prestigious programme. National and state level leaders are taking part in it. Star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi is also participating in Bharosa Yatra on February 27. Rahul Gandhi will address the yatra at Tirupati on February 22.

The Congress leaders are trying to highlight Rahul Gandhi’s promise on special status to AP. The party will take this slogan to the voters effectively in order to boost the party prospects in the coming election. There is still a strong anti-Congress sentiment among AP people for its role in separating their state from Hyderabad without considering its consequences. The Bharosa yatra is aimed at nullifying this factor.

Raghuveera Reddy says the Bharosa yatra will conclude on March 3 by which time it would have covered 2,251 kms across the state. Congress AP affairs incharge Oomen Chandy will inaugurate the yatra at Madkasira in Anantapur district. The Congress leaders are hopeful of improving the party image with this mass contact programme.

Congress to encourage Mandal, block level leaders

0

Hyderabad: As part of its rebuilding the party cadre across Telangana, Congress party has decided to encourage leaders and party men from block and Mandal levels. Towards this, the grand-old party will take opinions and recommendations from block level leaders on Lok Sabha ticket aspirants. Further DCC presidents will also do their bit in the opinion process about the candidates.

TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy along with senior leaders have been carrying out a series of brainstorm sessions over strengthening the party and bagging as many MP seats as possible in Telangana to enable Congress party to form UPA government at the Centre.

“We’ll educate our party cadres about failures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the TRS government. With proper awareness buildup programme, every Congress man will have total clarity about the government schemes, failures and what can Congress do. For instance, the Modi-led NDA government has miserably failed to create two crore jobs every year as it promised in the 2014 elections. Swaminathan committee has also recommended on input cost plus 50 per cent of MSP to farmers, but this was not implemented,” said Reddy.

He further said that Congress will highlight the bitter fact that not even a single family was benefited from the Modi government. Moreover, Congress will also spread awareness about the failures of Note Ban and GST as they slowed down the GDP growth, he said.

Congress action plan on anvil for Lok Sabha polls

0

Hyderabad: After suffering from a bitter defeat in Assembly elections, Congress party is gearing up for forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in Telangana in a more cautious and strategic way. Why Congress still silent on Mahakutami alliance in Lok Sabha polls

0

Hyderabad: Congress party, which headed Mahakutami alliance in the recent Assembly elections held in December 2018, is not yet confirmed its stand on whether to go alone or with allies in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Polls. On the other hand, speculation is rife over no possibility of Mahakutami in next elections as Congress wants to go alone to fight with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana. Reason is an open secret as it burnt fingers by partnering with TDP, Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and CPI parties under Mahakutami, which was later dubbed as Praja Front.

Congress high command seems to have considered the opinions put forth by party leaders and cadres that had the grand-old party gone alone in the Assembly elections, the results would have been in favour of Congress.

“Because of alliance with TDP only, we lost to TRS. Otherwise there would be a tough fight between Congress and TRS. Anyway, our party is still wants its allies not to contest in Lok Sabha polls. Winning as many MP seats as possible is very crucial for Congress to form the government at the Centre. We expect the finalisation of Lok Sabha candidates by February 20,” said a senior TPCC leader.

After appointing Priyanka Gandhi as AICC general secretary, the party high command as asked PCCs in all the states to gear up for Lok Sabha elections. TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy said that the final decision will be taken after consulting the party leaders and cadres over alliance.

Modi talks in parliament about Congress snubbing NTR

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned late NTR’s political career in parliament. While countering the allegations of Congress that , Modi is snubbing regional political parties, Narendra Modi commented that it is the culture of Congress party to snub the regional political parties and asked Congress party to recall what they have done to NTR and MGR.

It is known news that current CM Chandrababu Naidu took over the TDP party from NTR couple of decades back. The incident is always referred as “backstabbing” by the political parties. But, it seems, Modi was referring to another such backstabbing to NTR by Nadendla bhaskara Rao. Nadendla bhaskara Rao took over the party and it’s MLAs on to his side in 1983 and became chief minister. He survived in that post for a month. There were rumours that it was the Congress party that gave Nadendla Bhaskar Rao all the backend support during that time. Modi indirectly mentioned this event as he said he knows what Congress has done to NTR and MGR.

Much before this event of Nadendla Bhaskar Rao taking over the power from NTR, Congress Party led by Indira Gandhi did something similar to MGR. In fact Indira Gandhi and MGR were allies earlier. After Indira Gandhi’s emergency period, Congress party lost miserably through out country and Janata Party came into power with thumping majority. Almost all the parties that allied with Indira Gandhi and Congress in that elections also bit the dust at ballot box. However, in Tamilnadu , the situation was different and MGR led ADMK party got good number of seats despite allying with Congress, thanks to the immense popularity of the matinee Idol. But , as Congress lost the power at the centre, MGR also dumped Congress during the next state elections and that angered Indira Gandhi. So, when she came back to power after the collapse of Janata Party, she fully remembered what MGR did to her and ,as revenge, she suspended the Tamil Nadu state government by imposing president rule there.

So, Modi was referring in the parliament, these two incidents to counter the allegations of Congress Party on him about snubbing the regional parties. To be frank, when Congress was at its peak, it was very aggressive in snubbing the regional parties, especially during Indira Gandhi tenure. However, it is also true that, after Indira Gandhi, it is only Modi, who can be compared at that level in demonstrating such dictatorial style of working.

Congress wants allies to drop from Lok Sabha polls

0

Hyderabad: Will TDP, TJS and CPI contest in forthcoming Lok Sabha polls? The answer seems to be no as Congress party doesn’t want its Mahakutami friends to share seats in Lok Sabha seats. Telangana has 17 Parliamentary seats. Congress high-command is asking its alliance partners– Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and CPI– to give up their plan to contest in Lok Sabha polls to extend total support to the grand-old party. So that, Congress can bag as many Lok Sabha seats as possible enabling it to form the UPA government at the Centre. Congress is confident of winning 6-8 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, if alliance partners don’t contest. Congress party may finalise its Lok Sabha candidates by February 20.
