Darbar buyers stages protests: Rajinikanth in Silent Mode

0

Superstar Rajinikanth tested his luck during Sankranthi with Darbar and the film’s theatrical rights have been acquired for exorbitant prices all over. The film failed to impress the audience and ended up as a loss venture in Tamil Nadu along with other regions even after having a wide release during Sankranthi. It is heard that the buyers across Tamil Nadu lost close to Rs 60 crores and the producers (Lyca Productions) never responded after the release.

The distributors have been keeping their efforts to meet Superstar Rajinikanth but the actor turned unavailable. During several occasions in the past, it was Rajinikanth who stood as a support for the buyers and returned back a part from his remuneration to compensate for their losses. The production house argues that they paid a whopping amount as remuneration to Rajinikanth and they cannot compensate for the losses to the buyers.

The buyers are now worried if Rajinikanth responds about the same or ignores them like the makers of Darbar. Its high time for Rajinikanth to step out from silence and support the buyers of Darbar.

Rajini’s Darbar crushed between Telugu Biggies

0

Rajinikanth’s Darbar released on January 9th and it opened to decent footfalls across the Telugu states. Though the response has not been completely encouraging, the film managed to get a decent number of screens for the first three days. With Sarileru Neekevvaru receiving positive response and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo releasing today, there has been huge scarcity for screens during the holiday season.

Darbar projection has been interrupted today across the Telugu states across B, C centres to accommodate the shows for the Telugu biggies. The situation will continue for the entire next week and Darbar will face a tough time at the Telugu box-office. Kalyanram’s Entha Manchivaadavuraa is releasing on Wednesday and this would turn more tough for Darbar. AR Murugadoss is the director of the film and the Telugu theatrical rights are valued at Rs 15 crores.

Darbar Review – For Vintage Rajini fans

Darbar Movie Review

Darbar Review

Telugu360 Rating : 2.5/ 5

Story :

The story starts as Mumbai Commissioner Aaditya Arunasalam killing a lot of gangsters in encounters. The ruthless cop Aditya has been deployed to Mumbai to combat with Drug Lords, he goes on killing spree . There is a personal loss behind the killings and how he manages to take revenge is the crux of the film

Analysis :

After two decades , Rajinikanth dons a cop role a m he is outstanding as commissionar Aditya . He looks younger, fit and energetic. His walking style ,mannerisms are Deja vu for the audience. Coming to the script ,A R Murugadoss hasn’t shown his uniqueness but banked on Rajini’s charishma.

First half of the film has racy screenplay ,being a mad cop story the director has utilized the freedom to go all out. There is a wafer thin story , Darbar has built scene after another just to elevate Adithya Arunchalam. Drug lord Ajay Malhotra impersonation episodes are smart mostly , bit confusing at times.

Ajay Malhotra’s dad Hari Chopra role is played by Sunil Shetty. His character was introduced right before the interval , elevated through out. But when it comed to final showdown with the hero , Sunil Shetty’s character is not properly designed.

Second half slows down as sentiment takes front seat. Nivetha Thomas episodes are emotional , play key role in revenge plot. Railway station fight by Rajinikanth is a different one , entertains masses. Pre-Climax scenes are decent but climax falls flat.

Anirudh Ravichandran’s songs are decent enough and background score is outstanding. Stunts by Ram-Laxman , Peter Heins are mass appealing and few are good.

Among the supporting roles, Yogi Babu is good with his comedic timing. Nivetha Thomas performance as Aaditya’s daughter is pretty impressive. Nayanatara role is very limited , nothing worth mention about her character.

Positives :

  • Rajinikanth Swag
  • Rajini’s vintage strengths
  • Racy First half
  • Sentiment in Second half
  • Anirudh’s BGM

Negatives :

  • Weak Second half
  • Poor Climax
  • No High moments in the script
  • ARM mark is missing

Verdict :

Darbar is specially made for Rajini fans. If you are a fan of Rajini at any point of his illustrious career , then this film is for you. First half of the film is good , second half is not up to the mark for common audience.

Rajinikanth: I want to play the role of a transgender

Superstar Rajinikanth says he would love to explore the idea of playing a transgender in a film.

“I have explored almost all the genres. I have worked in 160 films and it’s been 45 years in the film industry. I want to play the role of a transgender,” said the Tamil screen idol, when asked if there still was any genre or role that he would like to explore after such a glorious innings in films.

Rajinikanth opened up at the trailer launch of his upcoming film “Darbar” in the city. Asked if he has been approached by any filmmaker to play a transgender, he said: “No, not yet. I thought about it just now and expressed my wish.”

The veteran actor also spoke of his wish to work in a Marathi film someday, since his roots belong to Maharashtra. He added that his passion for acting has been the driving factor for the last 45 years.

He said: “I do speak in Marathi in my house. Once I had an opportunity to work in a Marathi film but that didn’t worked out. I would like to work in a Marathi film. Let’s see when it happens. We have shot this film (‘Darbar’) for 90 days in Mumbai. I really love people of Mumbai.”

Rajinikanth, who was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in a Marathi family in Bangalore, plays the commissioner of Mumbai in “Darbar”.

Asked what drives him to work in films after having achieved everything, he said: “To be frank, it’s about money (laughs). I have to justify the money I get, and that is huge. No, actually it is the passion. I feel we should love the work that we do. I love acting and I love coming in front of the camera. I think the camera and the light give me energy.”

In “Darbar”, Rajinikanth will be seen playing a police officer after 27 years. “Actually, I don’t like to act as a cop because it is related with duty and all the serious aspects. I love to play happy-go-lucky and entertaining characters. In a cop film, you have to be very serious since he goes after criminals, so I used to avoid it. But (‘Darbar’ director) Murugadoss came to me with a very good subject. It is not a routine cop character. He (Murugadoss) has extracted very different kind of work from me and when you see the film, you will realise it,” said Rajinikanth.

At the trailer launch, he was accompanied by actor Suniel Shetty, who plays villain in the film, actor Prateik Babbar, cinematographer Santosh Sivan, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, singer Armaan Malik and director A.R. Murugadoss.

Rajinikanth is known for creating stylish characters onscreen in terms of action, dialogue delivery or a dance sequence. Does he give inputs while developing his characters in films? “I do give inputs but director also gives a lot of inputs when I play a certain character. I don’t exactly know what my style is. I don’t think too much about how to play a certain character. The way I am in real life, I behave similarly on screen as well. I walk and talk fast in real life and that’s what I do onscreen as well. I feel that’s bit different therefore, people appreciate it,” he said.

“Darbar” is an action thriller written and directed by “Ghajini” maker A.R. Murugadoss. The film stars Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Prateik Babbar, Jatin Sarna, Dalip Tahil, and Sunil Shetty in important roles.

The film is scheduled for a worldwide release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi on January 10, coinciding with Thai Pongal.

Sankranthi 2020 Fight: Jan 9, 11, 12 & 15

0

After ‘Venky Mama’ fixing its release date as December 13, the stress on Sankranthi movies has eased out. Furthermore, Superstar Rajinikanth has also changed the date of ‘Darbar’. According to Lyca Productions’ website, ‘Darbar’ will release on 9th January in all languages simultaneously. This decision has come as a boon to Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun’s movies.

Now, ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ can comfortably lock its release date as January 11 to avoid a direct fight with ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramlo’. The trade sources have been telling everyone that the makers of ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ and ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramlo’ have already decided to maintain a single day gap between their movies. So, Allu Arjun and Trivikram’s film will stick to its original release date – January 12, 2012.

The last film to hit the Sankranthi season would be Kalyan Ram’s ‘Entha Manchivaadavura’. This film has been fixed its date as Jan 15. No film will be directly clashing with each other on the release day. But the makers have to announce the new changed dates.
